It was nice to see ILL get a change of scenery at their new country home in Connecticut rather than that drab old NY apt. They could've had a lot of interesting storylines there but they only had about 6 or 7 episodes there at the most??

WHY didn't they move their earlier in the series or why didn't they show go on longer to have at least a couple of full season at their country home?

I seem to remember there being about 11 episodes at the end of the 6th season that took place at the Connecticut house.

I'm guessing you're not familiar with The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, which was a direct continuation of I Love Lucy that actually aired for 3 seasons (although only 13 episodes were filmed). Those 13 episodes were released on DVD as seasons 7-9 of I Love Lucy. Check out the following link for additional information:

I think I saw part of one episode once but you're saying all 13 of those episodes were at their Connecticut home? I thought some of those episodes were while they were traveling?

They don't show those episodes on TV Land do they?

For many years, NICK AT NITE ran the LUCY/DESI COMEDY HOUR
on Saturday nights - so those SAME 13 hour-long episodes
ran for several years over and over again. They were then
RE-packaged briefly under the title WE LOVE LUCY, and poorly
edited into
half-hour shows.

Well, no, not all of them were at the Connecticut house. They did do a lot of traveling in those episodes, to places like Havana and Japan, but what I was trying to point out was that there were more than just 6 or 7 episodes that took place in Connecticut, and things with the Ricardos and Mertzes didn't end as suddenly as you had originally thought.

Also, to farther complicate things, in the early sixties,
CBS took the half-hour I LOVE LUCY episodes based in
Connecticut and retitled them LUCY IN CONNECTICUT
for a summer prime-time run (sponsored by Gold Medal
Flour). These, with the LUCY IN CONNECTICUT opening
credits are very hard to find. I have only one - LUCY
AND THE TANGO.

Have they really shown all 11 of those episodes on TV Land?? Regardless they could've done more with the series if they had at least a couple of full seasons at their Connecticut home and gotten away from that drab dull apartment.

Fans of "I Love Lucy" will tell you that you're forgetting a very important factor regarding the series: The Arnaz marriage was breaking up, and had begun to deteriorate even when in full swing with "I Love Lucy". As a fan I don't find anything "drab and dull" about the NY apartment after Little Ricky was born. It was their home, after all. The move to CT was to try to add some ZING to the series with new plots and "country" type problems. Why are you so amazed that TV Land would show the LDCH? I somehow remember Nick At Night showing them, too. Maybe it was TV Land but it was a long time ago. Pretty soon TV Land will be not be showing "ILL" at all. It's moving to Hallmark Channel. Hey what's happened to Irene on here?? She doesn't post anymore. :(

I'm not saying that at all I'm saying I'd like to see it on TV Land or some channel because I've never seen it before.

I knew about Lucy's troubled marriage but most couples on TV just act and are not married so couldn't Lucy and Desi have been divorced but still had a professional relationship on TV? I recall reading somewhere that in the LDCH or maybe even the end of ILL you can actually see the remnants of tears on Lucy's face because she was crying on the set.

It's amazing Lucy even stayed with Ricky at all since he was constantly sleeping with other women. He slept with over 1000 if not thousands of women in his life. I don't know why Lucy put up with that. She was the epitome of success for so many women in America so she should've left him and moved to greener pastures long before.

The Hallmark channel??? Is that even on anymore??

So what's the real story behind Desi's womanizing and the breakup of their marriage?

What do you mean?

The question is self explanatory. What was the cause of the breakup of their marriage?

How bad was Desi's womanizing and did he really sleep with thousands of women in his life like fellow Cuban Fidel Castro? LOL!

I certainly can't give you a number! I think we all know how the media CAN and DO exagerate to get a juicy story that half of the time is filled with alot of half truths. They don't care who they hurt as long as they get their story and I'm convinced that is what they did with Lucy and Desi. They were America's favorite couple so there were people out there that had to tarnish that reputation. Now, I'm not saying that he didn't cheat, but it's entirely rediculous to believe that he cheated that much, the man was too damn busy with the show for one thing and he and Lucy's marriage wasn't ALL bad! They were human and made mistakes and the media took advantage of Desi's looks and charm and Lucy's insecurities.

Before you asked how it was that Lucy put up with his cheating? Because she was in love with him and because I think that deep down she knew that he wasn't stepping out the way it was printed. When he did cheat, he was usually so drunk he didn't know his own name. I'm not excusing his behavior, I'm just stating a fact that I have read in his book and even from close family members. I just get irritated at the Desi bashing that still happens today. Even Lucy admitted that they loved each other to the day he died and remained close. I hope this answers your questions! Oh and the cause of the break up? Yes, there was SOME cheating, but it sounded to me that she couldn't handle how bad his drinking had gotten.

Big3sCompanyFan has been a member for over five years, and is simply asking questions. That doesn't make him/her a troll. Not everyone kneels at the alter of Lucy and Desi. A person can be a fan and still find fault with the actors, characters, sets, show, etc.

Agreed. I honestly didn't see anything wrong with their posts. There's been other threads discussing why Lucy cried on set - and even pictures of her crying and we were discussing why she might have been so upset.
