View Full Version : Looking up Clifford Thorne
Tendervittles 09-19-2008, 04:31 PM Found several entries he wrote at genforum.com
Although nothing more recent than 2003, it does appear that he was reunited with his family - that he says he never knew about.
Apparently they are still in contact, as of then anyway. So it looks like that case was solved.
An interesting side note is he reveals that his father was abandoned as an infant, left with a foster mother and never reclaimed.
chacha6581 10-08-2008, 10:49 AM Wow. Thanks for the updates.
joshypiano 10-08-2008, 01:18 PM wait...are you talking about Clifford Sherwood who some theorized was taken by his father Edward Thorne????

I don't know if they're talking about the same thing but I found this....

Yes, the same one.
If you read through those posts at genforum, this Clifford definitely does mention Unsolved mysteries in one of his posts, as well as his mother Francis, and sister Colleen.
I believe Colleen was the sister featured in interviews along with his mother for the segment?
And THAT is a story I would definitely like to see updated if they ever brought Unsolved back into prime time.
mainly because I am curious if he really does look like that computer age progressed picture they showed at the end of the segment?
Now that does open up another unsolved mystery, since they found the two boys in the woods, one being Clifford's friend -- who really was the other boy, and who killed both??
And what a coincidence the one victim was Clifford's friend who disappeared along with him. WEIRD.
crystaldawn 10-09-2008, 03:31 PM Do you know when all of this was posted? Clifford Sherwood still seems to be listed as missing. Here are a few things I found concerning him:
http://www.freewebs.com/missingcanadians/missing2.htm
http://www.unsolvedmysteries.com/usm190511.html
I also remember seeing a post on www.unsolvedmysteries.com made by his sister where she was looking for him but couldn't find it this time.
He's also still listed on Doe Network as missing:
http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/208dmqc.html
I'm also curious how the name "Thorne" comes in as it wasn't mentioned in the UM segment.

Tendervittles, Is there any way you can send all of this to the Doe Network? Since you seem to be the most informed? And where does he mention unsolved mysteries and his mother and sister??

I seemed to remember his father went by the name Thorne for his military pension checks.

The segment never mentioned two boys' bodies being found. Has one turned up since? Also, I'd be very interested if the one set of remains which was found has ever been tested to determine whether or not they may belong to Clifford's friend Georges. The Doe Network page says Georges Gumbley has never been found and nothing further is known of him.
Questions:
1. This Clifford Thorne says his father's name was Edward Walter Thorne. What was "Tex"'s real name? (Strange that his nickname was "Tex," and this guy lives in Texas and has connections to Canada.)
2. The father's military records were due to be opened in April 2006. Were they, and what, if anything, was found?
3. This Clifford Thorne posted an email address. Does anyone want to just email him and ask if he knows anything about Clifford Sherwood?
spark19 10-18-2008, 12:41 PM So I guess that we've decided that this whole genforum thing is irrelevant?
Cori aka ChrisSCrush 10-19-2008, 12:52 AM I'd be surprised if it was relevant. I emailed the RCMP (Mounties) with these questions and no answer. Anyone have other suggestions, such as a local historical society or police department we could contact?
