Daniel Craig Stars in Mystery-Thriller Set in Contemporary Russia


WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. & NEW YORK, Thursday, September 18, 2008 -- ION Television, the “Positively Entertaining” general entertainment network available to over 94 million homes, and RHI Entertainment, the leader in the production and distribution of groundbreaking movies, miniseries and series for television, proudly announce the U.S. television premiere of Archangel, debuting Friday, October 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The three-hour mystery-thriller stars Daniel Craig, best known for his title role as the fictional secret agent James Bond in Casino Royale and in the soon-to-be-released 22nd Bond movie Quantum of Solace. Fans of the actor will be treated to an early glimpse at “the-actor-who-would-be-Bond” in this British import, which was adapted from author Robert Harris’ novel of the same name. Mr. Craig’s credits also include Steven Spielberg's Munich (2005) and British film Enduring Love (2004). Archangel also stars Gabriel Macht (Because I Said So, The Good Shepherd) and Harry Ditson (De-Lovely, The Tailor of Panama). The project, which was filmed on location in Russia and Latvia, also features an all-star Russian cast.

Set in contemporary Moscow and the frozen northern town of Archangel, the movie revisits the stark landscape of Communist Russia and takes place over four days in the life of a dissipated former Oxford historian Fluke Kelso (Daniel Craig). His fateful meeting with a former Stalinist bodyguard leads to the uncovering of one of the worlds most dangerous and best kept secrets. He is led unwittingly through murder and intrigue across night-time Moscow and up to northern Russia toward his own personal "Holy Grail" - Joseph Stalin's secret legacy - a legacy that could change the face of Russian history forever. Will Kelso unravel the final secret of Josef Stalin or will he meet his own untimely end?

Archangel is a Power/BBC co-production. The screenplay, by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, is adapted from a novel of the same title by Robert Harris. The movie was produced by Christopher Hall and directed by Jon Jones. Jessica Pope and Laura Mackie serve as executive producers, while Justin Bodle claims the executive producer representative role for Power. RHI Entertainment has U.S. distribution rights for the movie.

I'm not a Boston Legal fan but I do enjoy NCIS. Why don't they expand NCIS to Wed-Thur seeing as how it's doing well for them.

With their contract, I believe they can only air it once a week.

They should do better with more Boston Legal. It seems to be doing well so far, and should give ratings a bit of a boost.

I wish they'd find different sitcoms for the lineup. I think it's time for Steve Harvey to take a break by now - I like the show, but it's been on enough already. And I'm really glad to see that they haven't given up on Drew Carey completely yet. Even if they are only airing it twice a month, it's better than nothing. Now if we could only get it a nice afternoon slot . . .

Just to clarify, BL expansion replacing certain ER slots was scheduled long before BL started airing. ER was always intended to just be Mon-Wed at 10.

Know before 3pm would be good at only one expisode of each would be good but TBS and Nick doesn't even do that.
I would like to see Family Tiles,Growing Plains back,Major Dad,Dave's World,Classira Explains it All,S. Ward Show,Game Shows other then Family Fued on here.
More Orgional Program or it's own would be good to.

Boston Legal is obviously doing well, and they're really taking advantage of the Warner movie deal already. Glad to see Drew Carey on a Friday - that's a great time to watch it, and at least they're still using it.

Ratings did pick up a bit, but still, are they really happy with that? Don't you think a network like ION should be getting at least a million viewers or more weekly? I just don't see how they can surivive with getting just under 500,000 viewers every week.

Lots of changes for RHI weekend. See first post. Flash Gordon is officially gone on Fridays. Some Warner movie changes also.

Also, on Monday, October 13, an episode of 48 Hours will replace ER on this date only at 10pm.

No ER at all next week now. Tuesday and Wednesday of next week at 10PM will be Boston Legal instead of ER.

Also on Friday, October 17 from 4-6pm will be the Warner movie Grumpier Old Men.

ER is definitely a bomb - it'll be gone completely by Novemeber. 48 Hours is kind of random - they should have just aired Boston Legal at 10pm on Mondays as well.

They're obvioiusly taking advantage of the Warner movie deals. They must be doing well for them so far.

Does anyone know who the person was who played a waiter who was featured in maybe the Lucy Shows in the 50's - 60's from that period who after one of the other actors would say a line to him he would reply..."yessssssssssss"? Also was he the same waiter who would take the plam of his hand and strike his open mouth to make a pop sound?

ER and some RHI films are dragging the numbers down. Everything else is fine. Boston Legal and NCIS have done well. They have gone up slightly the last 3 weeks. So something is working. And the ratings will go higher for this week...no ER at all.

I'm just not seeing this big rating's bounce. 500,000 viewers is nothing to brag about. Even if BL and NCIS are doing well, they should be doing a big better. ER is obviously dragging it down, but I doubt 48 Hours did any better last night. ION needs RHI gone - I bet they're counting down the days until they're contract expires.

And hopefully they won't get into another contract to let an outside company program three nights!! Dig into those libraries--air classic movies and TV shows from the library deals.

Yeah, the whole RHI deal was probably a mistake in the first place. They were doing well in the beginning, but now they've been rerunning the same movies for a long time now.

I don't know why they're not taking advantage of the library deals. There are so many shows to choose from. They're probably make more money sticking with the library shows, because they wouldn't cost anything to air other than what they already paid. And, they're probably do better than what's airing right now.

Is there anyword on how their daytime schedule is doing? We've been focused on primetime, but there's no word on daytime. I'm particularly interested in seeing how well MASH is doing.

Oh, there are so many RHI movies that have been beaten to death. Killer Wave is another one of them - I can't even imagine who would watch it after its 10th time airing - just imagine how small the audience must be for it.

I can't believe its airing on Hallmark now. When will they stop? :lol:

I'm getting a little tired of these movie marathons. There's movies Thursdays-Sundays now - I wouldn't be surprised to make Fridays a permanent movie marathon.

ION had a pretty good week 4, hitting a season high with its new line-up:

0.4HH/1%, 0.20 A18-49 (200,000), 580,000 P2+ viewers, 380,000 non A18-49

The last time ION reached a 0.2 A18-49 was Week 18 (Jan.21-27, 2008) of the 2007-8 season when it rated:

0.4HH/1%, 0.20 A18-49 (210,000), 630,000 P2+ viewers, 420,000 non A18-49

They need to get about anywhere between 350k-500k more viewers then they'll be getting somewhere.

With all of the money they've been dishing out to get some of these shows, one would wonder how their revenue is, especially with our nation's faltering economy.

And that was without ER, right?

I have not doubt ER will be off the lineup permanently soon.

I agree - they're getting higher ratings without it, so instead of annoucing these changes week to week, they should have just made them permanent.

I'm slowly enjoying BL on ION - I watch it whenever I have nothing else to watch. I'm hoping for November, we get a new show to come in and replace ER. I'd love for it to be a sitcom.

They should really add at least 3pm to the schedule by the end of the year. Then they could get a nice block of sitcoms in daytime, which is long overdue IMO.

Yeah, definitely overdue - they should really be airing on a 12pm-12am schedule, IMO. Why they keep the infomercials around, I don't know.

They really do need Mama back - I know they don't want to be known as the Mama network, but the show consistently brought in the best ratings. They could air it at 8pm, with NCIS at 9pm and Boston Legal at 10pm (or visa versa).

According to the newest alert, ION is getting old McBride movies. Awesome. Now I wish that Hallmark would announce some new McBrides. I'd like to see a few new ones possibly with some new partners/sidekicks since the original storyline with Roberta and Phil ended a while ago (At least Requiem made it seem that way). :D Wishful thinking, I suppose.

No - NCIS is airing Mondays at 10pm instead, and Boston Legal is airing Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10pm.

But, a new show with a consistent schedule would be best for ION right now. There are only 2 shows airing in primetime right now, plus the movies. They need more variety. I'm honestly surprised Mama hasn't come back. It did so well for them - if it would air at 8pm, it would most likely get both NCIS and Boston Legal up to its levels. They're at the point where they have to stop being so stubborn, and just put it back on.
