View Full Version : How does PayPal Work?
Wreckless 09-17-2008, 01:55 PM I never understood Paypal and everytime people would explain it to me, I still didn't get it and they didn't explain it well enough. I mainly just want to know everything about it and how it would work, setting it up for payments on E-bay, sites like that etc. Do you go to your bank and send money from your savings, checking account(s) to the user's account? Somebody please explain it to me in laments, so I have a better and more thorough understanding of it. Thanks.
InspectorExstead 09-17-2008, 02:56 PM you can enter your credit card/debit number and it saves it on the site. and anytime you purchase something & want to pay with paypal, you just log in to paypal & purchase it through there. it's an easier & faster way to pay for things online since you don't need to write your credit card number everytime. hope that makes it easier to understand.
Wreckless 09-17-2008, 04:38 PM Ok I understand that, thanks. But what if you want to pay through your savings account at a bank, would that work and if so, how would it work?
treky 09-18-2008, 02:24 AM the site also has an option where you give them the number of your checking/savings account, and they'll take the money directly from there, so there's no need for you to go to your bank.
Zoneboy 09-18-2008, 02:32 AM After setting up your bank account through Paypal, You'll need to verify it before using it. Once you submit the info, Paypal will make 2 small deposits into your account. These usually range from 10-20 cents. Once you confirm the deposits, You're account will be ready to use. Paypal does this to verify that you're the owner of the account.
Wreckless 09-18-2008, 03:20 AM So what do you do to verify that it's your account, after they deposit the 10 cents in there?

When you login to Paypal, You'll be asked to enter the amounts of each deposit. This is the last step of the verification process and once completed the account will be ready to use.
Wreckless 09-18-2008, 03:30 AM Oh ok, so when you sign up and after you put in your account info, it tells you the amount that they send to you, then you have to confirm it when you sign back on again? cause how would you confirm it at a bank? it's not like a checking account where people can send you checks towards your checking account if you have one, and you don't have to be there.

No, Paypal doesn't tell you the amounts, You have to get them from your statement or by phone if your bank offers that service. Paypal does this regardless of whether it's a checking or savings account that is being linked to.
Wreckless 09-18-2008, 03:43 AM Oh alright. So when they send the amount to my account, I should get it in my monthly statement from Commerce, then I can verify right?
Wreckless 09-18-2008, 03:48 AM Should I sign up for a personal or premier account?

If you're only using it for purchases then a personal account will suffice.

Correct
Wreckless 09-18-2008, 04:11 AM Thanks. One more thing, how would the buyer get the money? Does it send the money from your account to there's?
