I'm proud to debut my first avatar.....the picture is of the actual "Ozzie Nelson Drive" street sign located 5 minutes from my home in Ozzie's boyhood hometown of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. In the early 1990's this street was officially named after their home son. Gunner, Matthew and Don Nelson all attended the Saturday afternoon dedication ceremony which I attended. Within walking distance of this street, the home where Ozzie and family lived is still standing on Teaneck Road.

That was probably a very nice and expensive house back in Ozzie's day.

I know home prices vary across the country, here in NJ that house today is worth a minimum of $425,000

Hmmmmm, is this the same house based on shots used on the opening credits for the early seasons of O&H?

The photo is the actual house Ozzie Nelson spent most of his childhood and college years....the house that was shown in the opening credits was modeled after the home Ozzie & Harriet actually lived in at the time of the series.

Ozzie went to college in Rutgers, so it was not a far drive from Ridgefield Park. It amazes me how many things Ozzie was good at, law, music, writing, directing, acting, sports, etc.

Great avatar and thanks for the neat photo!

Wasn't Ozzie also a very high achieving Boy Scout as a youth?

"Wasn't Ozzie also a very high achieving Boy Scout as a youth?"

Yes, he was one of the youngest to become an Eagle Scout at age 13.

I think Ozzie is an example of your classic overachiever. What it was that he set out to do he gave it his all and set out to be the best.

And everything he did, he did well. A very sucessful person all through his life and he truly cared for his family. He had many family members employed in his shows for years.

He was conscientious and a rock all right....and one tiny step away from being an actual lawyer...he would have been one probably had his band not taken off!

And I remember Dave saying at some point that Ozzie couldn't even read music!! Imagine that and being a successful band leader!

Thanks for the pictures, Tee Vee! And I love your avatar! You're lucky to be able to drive down that street! I'd feel honored every time I turned on it!

I think being just a few steps away from a law degree helped Ozzie a lot in his business negotiations too.

They claim he was a very tough man to negotiate with and usually got his way. American Bandstand wanted Rick on the show many times but Ozzie would not permit it.

That's exactly the impression I got from Ricky's bios too!
