Life Will Go On, Eventually
A “The Division” Fan Fiction

This story takes place ten years in the future...(okay so I included Angela...is that
a big deal?) Life hadn’t changed for them except the fact that Jin and Mag got
married...Jin to Teddy (yeah they made up) and Mag to Gabriel. And Jin stopped
drinking.

It was a regular day for Inspector Angela Reide. She got up, and went to work.
Little did she know that it would be one of the worst weeks of her life. When she
walked into work she noticed everyone was there but her partner, Inspector CD
DeLorenzo, whom was always on time.
“Hey something’s wrong here...CD’s not here, but Jin is.”
“Yeah...heaven only knows where CD is.” Magda relayed to Angela.
“Ya know...her and Paul have been having more problems than usual lately.
Even though they got a divorce he’s trying to get her back.” Jinny told the two of
them.

Captain Kate McCafferty (so she’s a bit older) walked out of her office.
“Jin, Mag, and Angela...can I talk to you guys in my office.”

The three ladies got up and walked in. Angela could tell something was wrong
so she shut the door.
“Okay...so I’ll tell the whole department in about ten minutes, but you three
deserve to know ahead of time.”
“What is it Cap?” Magda asked her.
“Well, CD and Paul had a fight last night. Paul shot CD in the head. She’s in
critical condition.” Kate said, she just waited for a reaction from one of her
Inspectors. “Well, anybody got any comments?”

Everyone in the small office just stared, no one could believe something like this
could have happened to CD.

“Does anyone want to go see her? She is expected to have full recovery. And
amazingly enough she’s conscious.” Captain added, realizing that they all
though CD was going to die.
“I’m going.” Angela said, the first to speak. “She’s been my partner for ten years,
I want to see her.”
“I Think I’ll go too.” Magda told Kate.
After some thought Jinny said, “I think I’ll go too.”

The three women left the office and got their coats on. Each one got in their own
car and went to the hospital to see CD. She needed all the support and help she
could get right now.

When they got there the three of them walked to the front desk.
“Hi, we’re here to see CD DeLorenzo, it might be under the name of Candace.”
Magda told the receptionist.
“Yes, she’s in room 543 in the ICU on floor 4.” She politely told them.
“Thanks.” They said in unison as they headed for the elevator.

When they got to the fourth floor, they found room 543. No one wanted to go in,
so they decided to wait in the ICU waiting room. After about 30 minutes, Captain
Kate McCafferty came in. She looked at the three inspectors sitting there.
“Any news?” She asked.
“Not yet, we’re waiting for a doctor to tell us it’s okay to see her.” Jinny told Kate.
“All right, thanks Jinny.”

After waiting another fifteen minutes a doctor came into the room.
“DeLorenzo?”
Magda, Jinny, Angela, and Kate all stood up and looked at the doctor.
“Well, she can have visitors, but I’d recommend one person at a time.” He told
them.
“Excuse but you are?” Angela asked...she wanted to know the doctors name.
“Oh sorry, I’m Dr. Evans.”
“And will she recover?” Angela asked him.
“Yes, she is expected to have full recovery, but we cannot say that it will really
happen. With cases like these, you never know.”

The doctor walked out of the waiting room.
“So who wants to see her first?” Magda asked, looking at the other people with
her.
“I’ll Go.” Angela told them, ready to see her partner.
“Fine Angela, go ahead.” Kate told her.

As Angela neared the room, she took a deep breath, she didn’t know what she
would see, or even if CD would recognize her. She looked in the window, and
what she saw amazed her, there was her partner, laying in a bed, with a
bandage around her head, and she was hooked up to a heart monitor. Angela
entered the room and looked at CD.
“Hey CD.” Angela said, looking at her. “How ya feeling?”
CD looked at her and smiled, “Hey, okay...as good as I could be after someone
trying to kill me.”
Angela smiled, she knew CD was trying to lighten the mood. “So, Jinny, Mag,
and Cap are out in the waiting room, when we heard what had happened we
were all worried.”
CD looked at Angela, she could tell she was still worried, but decided to let her
be. She knew that she may not make it. She understood her close friends being
worried about her.

“Yeah, well Jin, Mag, and Cap all want to see ya so I’m going to go.” She told
her smiling.
“Fine.”

As Angela walked out of the room, she couldn’t help but think...’What if CD dies?
What will I do without my partner and friend?’ She got to the waiting room and
smiled.
“She knows who we are. Now who wants to go next?”
Jinny’s cell phone rang, “I can’t...got to answer this.” She answered the phone.
“Exstead”
“Hi Jin, it’s me, Theodore.” He told her.
“Hi Teddy, what’s up?”
“Well I just got a call from Dr. Right, he got the test results and needs to talk to
you, Sarah and I right away.”
“All right...well I’m already at the hospital, CD was shot by Paul last night. SO
when are we meeting him?”
“Well in about thirty minutes, I’m getting Sarah right now.”
“Fine, see you then.” She says and hangs up.

Mean time they had decided that Kate was going to go see CD. She was already
nearing the room. She entered.
“Hey CD,” She started, “How are you feeling?”
“Fine, I mean as good as I could be.”
“Good, because we’ll need you back as soon as possible! Not having you
around will not only be hard on everyone...it’ll be hard because you’re a good
cop, and we need you around. So get better soon.”
“Geeze, fine...I’ll try!” CD said sarcastically...she knew that Kate didn’t mean to
lecture her...it just sounded that way!
“Well, Jinny I think wanted to see you, Sarah had some tests, and the Doctor
needed to see them as soon as possible.”
“Oh, well I hope everything is okay. I’ll see you later.” CD told her.

Kate headed out to the waiting room after spending about ten minutes with CD.

“Hey Jin...go see CD, then meet with the doctor about Sarah.” Kate said as she
walked back in the waiting room.
“Thanks.” Jinny walked to room 534, looked in the window and saw CD. She
walked in the room, “Hey, having fun?”
“Not really...ya know the food here really sucks!”
“Why do you say that?”
“I don’t know...I’m just bored. Hey I heard something may be up with Sarah.”
“Yeah, she’s 8 years old, I have no clue what could be up.”
“So you’re going to talk to a doctor about it.”
“Yeah, it’s her pediatrician, Dr. Shawn Evens. He called Theodore and told him
he needed to see us and Sarah as soon as possible.”
“Do you know what it’s about?”
“Nope...no clue.”
“Well good luck.”
“Thanks.” Jinny told her, “And get wall soon...I need to go meet Teddy and
Sarah.”
“Great, see you later.” CD told her.

Jinny walked out the door and looked at Magda. “Hey go in...I’ve got to go meet
Teddy and Sarah.”

Jinny continued walking until she reached Dr. Shawn Evens office. Teddy and
Sarah were already there. She went in and sat next to Theodore.
“Jinny, good to see you.” Dr. Evens started, “So I wanted to talk to all of you.
Something very serious came up in Sarah’s tests, you had brought her in
because she was complaining she was always tired, had unexplained cuts and
bruises, different reasons. Just not herself.”
“So your saying...”Jinny jumped in.
“So I’m saying, that after running tests we found that Sarah has lymphatic
leukemia. A very common type of cancer for children.”
“Wait a minute, Sarah’s eight years old. How can this be.” Theodore asked as
Sarah was squeezing his hand trying hard not to cry.
“It can happen in kids of all ages. There’s no telling who it will happen to.”
“What will happen to me from here?” Sarah got the nerve up to ask.
“Well Sarah, what normally happens is you will start your chemotherapy today.
You’ll be staying in the children’s ward here.”
“You’ll still be my doctor, right?” She asked, with a slight tremble in her voice.
“No Sarah. You’ll need specialists for this. Doctors who always treat patients
with cancer.”
Sarah started to cry quietly.
“DR. What if we decide against treatments?” Theodore asked him.
“She would die within one year, most likely. We can get her settled in, then one
of you could go get her things, bring them to her and then do whatever.”
Jinny just stared, while Sarah cried, and Teddy was feeding this information
through his brain.

Okay...now ya know what Sarah has...do you still like?

Meanwhile Magda had just finished visiting CD. They were all going to leave to
go back to work, but Magda wanted to wait for Jinny, she had given her a ride.
“You guys can go ahead, I’m going to wait for Jinny so she has a ride back.”
Magda had told them.
“Fine.” Angela told her as her and Kate left.

Now it’s kind of scary...but the children’s ward is one floor above the floor CD
was on, and Jinny had decided to take the stairs. So when she was heading up
she saw Magda.
“Hey Jinny, is Sarah okay?”
“Uh no, not really.”
“Jinny what happened?”
“Sarah has cancer, Magda my little girl has cancer.” Jinny wanted to cry, but she
knew she couldn’t. She had to be strong for Sarah right now. “Look, go back to
the station, I’m going to call Captain and tell her I can’t come to work today.
Teddy and I are planning On staying with Sarah.”
“Oh Jin, I’m so sorry. Is it a brain tumor? What kind of cancer?”
“Lymphatic Leukemia.” Jinny said as she started back up the stairs.

When she reached the room she noticed Sarah had a roommate, of whom she
wasn’t getting along very well with.
“Sarah, I’m going to go with Daddy to get your stuff. Do you want us to bring
anything special?”
“Yeah, could you bring Mr. Quiggles?”
Jinny smiled and looked at her little girl, “Yes, I’ll bring Mr. Quiggles.”
“Thanks Mom.” Sarah said.
“I’ll be back soon honey.” Theodore said, while Jinny nodded in agreement.
“By sweetie.”

They left the room, as they were heading toward the elevator Jinny looked at
Teddy.
“Hey, could we stop by the station on the way...I’ve got to tell Cap that I won’t be
at work today. I’m going to stay with Sarah most of the day, and the rest of the
day I’ll either stop by and see CD, or sit at home and do nothing.”
“Sure. I’m going to call in to stay home too.” He told her. They finished walking to
the car in silence.

By the time they got to the station, reality had hit Jinny. She was worried about
Sarah. She headed in to Kate’s office.
“Captain.” Jinny said, attempting to get her attention.
“Jinny, how’s Sarah?”
“She has lymphatic leukemia. I was wondering if I could have the rest of the day
off?”
“Yeah, take off as long as you need.”

Do you guys want me to continue?
