Well, sort of....

I am probably going ballistic over this for nothing, but I was so freaking mad:angryfire when I saw this!!!

I was watching the University of Washington Huskies play the Oklahoma Sooners yesterday on ESPN, and toward the end of the game, they flashed this on the screen....

The State of Seattle Sports

Huskies-No Bowl Game Since 2002
Mariners-Will miss postseason for 7th straight year
Seahawks-lost 34-10 to Bills in season opener
Sonics-moved to Oklahoma City

Okay, now you're probably wondering why I was so mad. Well for one thing I found it insulting. Yes, the Mariners are terrible and yes, the Huskies are beyond terrible (0-2), but it looked to me like ESPN was deliberately trying to make Seattle look bad. I mean, the thing about the Seahawks really got to me because give me a break! They've played ONE game! ESPN must be assuming that all of our teams are going to suck this year! I think they have forgotten that the Seahawks won both pre-season games (too bad they didn't count)... one in overtime!
As for the Sonics? Well, I got the impression that they wanted to leave Seattle anyway!

I'm not defending any of the teams (okay, maybe I am), but I've never seen a TV station 'promote' an entire city's "bad" teams like that!

The UW Huskies were awesome back in 2000 when Rick Neuheisel was the coach. They went to the Rose Bowl that year.

UW hasn't been good since, really. There has been so much crap going on with that school's athletic department, it's not even funny!
Here's a link to the Seattle Times article if you want to read it...

It's very sad, but I was so mad at ESPN for flashing that on the screen that I was going to email them and complain! And I may still do it!

Of course, I doubt that anyone else in Seattle will care-or even knew about it. At that point the score was 55-14 which was the final (OUCH!!), and I'm sure any Husky fans would have turned off the TV in disgust!!!

I won't stoop to ESPN's level and say something bad about Oklahoma. That's tacky!!! However, it was hilarious reading the Seattle Times blogs online about the Sonics going to Oklahoma City. The responses just about killed me! One person actually said that the Emerald City is where the Munchkins live! I think he means "Munchkin Land"! :brent The "Great and Powerful OZ" lives in the Emerald City!!! I think those idiots need to watch "The Wizard of Oz" again! If they are going to insult Seattle, they should at least get their facts straight!:rofl:

Don't feel bad- a lot of analyists, channels etc. banish Philadelphia, even though the Cubs haven't won it in 100 years, Cleveland hasn't won many championships as a franchise and etc. etc. I don't think Seattle is that bad- Seahawks are a good team at least.

That's because the People who work for ESPN behind scenes are from the Philly/south jersey area

Half of the staff. It was mentioned 4 years ago when they did the behind sportscenter thing.

Well I was hoping that the Seahawks would win today so that I could tell ESPN off, but oh well... I figured they had to be biased!
