I don't know if this has been discussed before...
Were there any musical clearence problems when the show was put on DVD?
Like songs that they couldn't secure the rights to it being on DVD?

Was that the only song that they couldn't clear the rights for the DVD?
Do you remember what episode it was originally in?

I mostly got to know the show on DVD as I missed most of the episodes when they originally aired.
So I'm used to that episode on DVD. Although it would be interesting seeing that episode with different music.

I hope not. I like as much original music put on the DVDs as possible, even if clearences are hard to get by.

I've just completed collecting all 8 seasons, and am now really getting into this show. So I too, wouldn't notice music replacements, although I wouldn't like to know there were alot.
I wouldn't think there would be as many issues with music clearances with more contempary shows as there would be with older shows. Wouldn't they have taken into consideration dvd production during the run of the show?

Actually, pretty much every piece of music that wasn't integral to the episodes plot was replaced in reruns and on the DVDs. So, basically, unless the characters acknowledged or started singing the song playing, it was replaced. It sucks, I know. Also, episode 25 of season 5 is missing about four minutes from it's original broadcast.

I would not have thought that a (relatively) contemporary show would have such issues with musical clearance. Wasn't eventual home video production for this show considered the first time around?
