New on DVD: Anne Francis stars in 'Honey West

Series Everybody's got a DVD holy grail, and this is mine! Finally, Anne Francis' sleek 1965 private-eye half-hour arrives with all its karate chopping, ocelot owning and bubble-bath taking, nicely remastered in crisp black and white. Before "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E." and "The Bionic Woman," there was Honey, judo-throwing bad guys, in a black catsuit.

Extras Dozens of original '60s commercials, including cigarette ads for people who'd "rather fight that switch," George Burns selling El Producto cigars, vintage ABC promos.

List price $40 for all 30 episodes on four discs, out today from VCI.

I have never seen this before but heard nothing but good things. I will get this sooner or later. Sooner if Amazon or deepdiscount has a sale

I just got Honeymmoners, 8 Doris Day movies, 7 discs of Harold Lloyd's greatest shorts/movies so I will be busy for a while

I had gotten it a couple of years ago when it came out in England but I re-bought the American release. The English one looks like they used 16mm prints whereas the US is off the 35s. Big difference in the look and quality.

bencasey-- which one is the better one? As long as I can see a picture almost anything works for me

If you are going to buy it now, the VCI release is far superior. They used
35mm prints, not 16s, it includes coming attractions as well as the original commercials, although I would have liked to have seen them in the body of the show. The only thing better on the British release is that it includes the pilot episode from Burke's Law. However, since VCI is also releasing that show, we should get that soon on the 2nd season BL set.
