MiniCooper 09-23-2008, 06:28 PM It's odd that these movies were fresh when I was a kid. It doesn't seem like a long enough time has passed for them to remake them. And good luck with Last House On The Left. That's going to be tough to remake and not be a boring cheese fest.

VIDEO REVIEWS : UHM will now be hosting video reviews scripted, shot and edited by yet another new addition to the staff known as Slayer. He will be covering more obscure films, and all his reviews will be in video form. This is an entirely new concept for UHM, so you'll likely see changes made throughout each review, but they will definitely be for the better. Enjoy!

(4) - The Case of the Scorpion's Tale
"The movie limps around like a three legged dog. Bad acting, slow pacing, enormous amounts of dialogue, and killer that isn't worth mentioning, round out this awkward romance."

(5) - Killer Party
"A slow burning slasher film with and identity crisis that doesn't just ignite in the end, it explodes into a million pieces."
REVIEWER: John Doolan
(8) - Nekromantik (Video Review)
"While Nekromantik is a very sick and disturbing movie it truly is very artistic and beautifully made."
REVIEWER: Slayer
(6) - The Passage
"A film very similar to the disappointing Turistas that nonetheless still provides a satisfying movie experience that works as an engrossing and effective horror thriller that plays on contemporary fears of the unknown."

browneyes106 09-24-2008, 02:16 PM I hope some these of remakes are good. The Halloween remake was awful.

What ever happened to originality?
MusicJunkie 09-24-2008, 07:06 PM Remakes are an epidemic that needs to be stopped. You can count the number of remakes in all genres that are better than the original. Let's see... The Wizard Of Oz and.....?
Race's Girl 10-11-2008, 09:35 AM There's gonna be a remake of Child's Play? Sweet
Zebra 3 10-11-2008, 12:13 PM Enough already with the remakes!
LuLu Rogers 10-11-2008, 04:46 PM I CANNOT believe they're going to remake Last House On The Left! That movie is so graphic and horrible, so hard to watch, it should NEVER be remade. That's the kind of movie you watch once.
I think Friday the 13th may be good. Not happy about the Nightmare on Elm Street remake though.
People keep referring to Rob Zombie's Halloween as a remake, but it's really not. He used the story of Michael Myers, but he added his own twist to it and took it in a different direction.
Are they running out of material, is that the reason for all of these remakes?

I've actually seen the movie like five times between 2000 and 2003. It is a very difficult movie to watch. However, I really respect it's honest no holding back look at violence in our society. And it was made at a time when most movies hadn't really delt with this issue. Still, I'm pretty sure I will not be watching the movie again.

I agree, it's really a terrible movie. I'm sure the remake will be toned down quite a bit. Another movie that reminds me of Last House is If I Die Before I Wake. It's another horribly creepy movie, and I definitely don't recommend it.

I myself have watched it twice, but it's not for the faint of heart. Like you Mike, I respect the honesty there too, Wes Craven is a GENIUS! His movies are AMAZING! Just look at this one, The Hills Have Eyes, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, he's great! That's another reason they shouldn't remake this.

Definitely! To my knowledge, there was no MPAA back then, so they could get away with that much violence and gore and still maintain an R rating, now a days it would be rated NC-17 or higher, which makes most movie stores not want to carry it, which hurts sales. This remake will be toned down a WHOLE lot compaired to the original.

It's not that it's a terrible movie, it's just not meant to be watched in the same manor as most movies. When a person watches a movie it is gernerally to entertained. And hopefully, if it's a good movie, it will leave the viewer with something a little more.
The Last House On The Left was not meant to be watched as entertainment. It's more like a doumentary. There was a great deal of violence in the world when Last House was made and there really hadn't been a movie that explored the subject of violence yet. Well, except for A Clockwork Orange.
Nighthawk76 10-11-2008, 11:40 PM I myself have watched it twice, but it's not for the faint of heart. Like you Mike, I respect the honesty there too, Wes Craven is a GENIUS! His movies are AMAZING! Just look at this one, The Hills Have Eyes, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, he's great! That's another reason they shouldn't remake this.
Wes Craven is a really good horror filmmaker. My favorite would have to still be A Nightmare of Elm Street. Its a movie that's scary, funny, imaginative and fun to watch. Also, I think that Heather Langenkamp is the ultimate scream queen.
LuLu Rogers 10-11-2008, 11:42 PM I love it too, such and original idea for a film.
