I Hope You Dance (Jinny/Teddy FanFic)
The song ‘I Hope You Dance’ by Lee Ann Womack inspired this fan fiction. I don’t own this song or ‘The Division’ so don’t try to sue. I’m completely blocked on all my other fics, and I’m in the mood to write something lovey dovey and Jinny/Teddyish. So, if this totally sucks, I really don’t care. It’s 88 degrees in MY ROOM so I’m, like, really hot and claustrophobic. So here’s my attempt at a Jin/Teddy fic...
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
Get your fill to eat, but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
G** forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
When one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance...
Jinny turned the glass and propped her head in her other hand. She stared at the people in Anchorside that night. People that had come to forget about life for awhile. Though she hated to admit it, she was one of them. She turned her glass up to her mouth and swallowed the last mouth full of the beer in her glass. Tears stung at her eyes as she remembered what her mother had said about alcohol. ’It’s bad, Jinny. It can destroy families and lives. Promise me that you’ll never ever drink this stuff.’
Jinny had nodded and hugged her mother, yet, 20 years later, here she was sitting in a bar, drinking the forbidden drink. She chuckled and motioned for another beer.
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
Theodore stared out the window of his apartment. Her threw the manila envelope containing the case he was currently working on, and just watched it rain.
Rain relaxed Teddy. He didn’t know why, but it reminded him of Jinny. The one he had let slip away.
Even though he wouldn’t admit it, he really missed her.
‘I wonder where she is?’ he thought. ‘You’re a fool, Blumenthal. What was the first thing they taught you in law school? Examine the evidence. She’s at Anchorside. I can feel it.’
Without letting his ‘other side’ answer back, Theodore threw on his coat, grabbed his car keys, and headed out to find Jinny.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they’re worth takin’
Lovin’ might be a mistake, but it’s worth makin’
Don’t let some h*** bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to sellin’ out, reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the chance to sit it out or dance...
Jinny stared at the last drop of alcohol in her glass. She had been staring at it for the last 15 minutes, yet she couldn’t bring herself to drink it. ‘Oh, what the h***?” she thought as she drank the last of it.
She needed to go home. She needed too, but she wouldn’t. She couldn’t bear to go back to that mess alone.
Jinny pondered calling Theodore. Telling him that she missed him and that her life hadn’t been the same since they had broken up. She swallowed the lump that had risen in her throat. She pulled out her cell phone and dialed the number.
I hope you dance... I hope you dance
I hope you dance... I hope you dance
Teddy walked into Anchorside and spotted Jinny almost right away. She sat chin in hands with an empty glass in front of her, obviously lost in her thoughts. He sat down in a booth across the room and just watched her. He saw her take out her cell phone and dial a number. After a few rings, she pressed end and dialed another number.
‘No doubt calling Magda,’ Theodore thought.
His cell phone started to ring.
“Hello?” he asked tenderly.
“Teddy?” came Jinny’s voice from across the room. “Teddy, where are you? I called your--”
“Shh! Jin, believe it or not, I’m closer than you think,” Theodore replied and pressed end before Jinny could say another word. He came up behind her and kissed her cheek.
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance...
“Theodore Blumenthal! What are you doing here?”
Teddy sat down on the stool next to her. “I’m looking for you.”
“Me? Why?” Jinny asked.
“Because, I love you and I need you in my life. Jin, I’m sorry if I ever made you feel like you weren’t loved by me. Well, I’m telling you now, you are, and--”
“Teddy,” Jinny cut him off. “Shut up. I understand... Now, whadd’ya say that we go back to my apartment and make up?” She smiled.
Theodore nodded, took Jinny’s hand, and led her out into the night air.
Dance... I hope you dance
I hope you dance... I hope you dance
I hope you dance... I hope you dance

Okay, there are a few things that I'd like to make clear:
1.The Facts of Life, THe Division, and Designing Women rock forever!!!
2. I am a Kana. Do not put down The Facts of Life, The Division, or Designing Women, or I will be forced to summon the evil bats and their sidekicks, the evil polar bears, on you.
I'm glad we had this conversation.
Y'all have a nice day!
