This is a fan fiction that I have been working on and Jin said it was really good and I should post it so here goes. I am not promising that it is good. But I thought I would at least post and see what you all think. I also wanted to say Thanks Jin for reading it Without farther delay here it is:

After the Intervention: The Healing Process

Jinny’s car

Jinny left her father’s house and got in her car. She started the car and started driving with no destination in mind. She was thinking about all that just happened at the intervention. Today had been a bad day all around. She had gotten suspended for 90 days and then went over to her father’s house to be ambushed by everyone. She thought about all that had been said at the intervention. Everything kept running thru her head from all the people at the intervention that apparently cared about her to every word that had been said there. She looked at her surroundings and knew she wasn’t far from The Anchorside; she was tempted to head the car in that direction and forget about everything that had happened. After all that was what her life had been to drink to forget everything that happened when she had found her mother. She had always thought if she had been a little bit better her mom would have loved her and never would have committed suicide. That is what she had thought all her life since that day she found her mom laying in the bathroom. What the people at her father’s house did not know was that every night when she shut her eyes she saw that image. That is where the drinking came in, for when she drank she didn’t see the image that was before her when she was 14 years old. What they also didn’t know was that when Theodore had said he loved her and backed out on the weekend in Napa that she felt like that helpless little girl again when she was 14 and had found her mother. She really did care for Theodore more than she had every cared for anyone else. She had felt closer to Theodore and she had blown that one to. She wondered if she would ever get it right. Maybe she had jumped to conclusions when Teddy had said that he had been given the chance to be second chair, after all that was an honor for and ADA and maybe he didn’t just want to back out. Everything was spinning out of control. She looked at her surroundings and realized that she was near the bay so she turned her car in the direction of the bay. She might be able to come to terms with everything that had gone wrong in her life recently.

John Exstead House

Everyone was still there talking about what they could do to help Jinny. Sandra Fogelson was telling everyone “That until Jinny was ready to get help then you really can’t do anything to force her into rehab. You all tried your best tonight to convince Jinny that she was loved and you wanted to see her get the help that she desperately needs at rehab but tonight proved one thing she listened she is just not ready to take that step yet. Jinny hasn’t come to terms yet with her drinking cause if she had she would have gone to King’s Point Rehabilitation Center tonight. Hopefully she will think about all that was said tonight in this room and choose to go the King’s Point anyway. But you can’t force her to go to rehab because then it won’t do any good. She will go through rehab and come out and more than likely go back to her old ways and then you have to start all over again and no one wants that.” Magda replied “So basically what you are saying in order for rehab to work for Jinny she has to want to go and get better herself, and us forcing her to would be like forcing someone to do something they don’t want to do and when she gets out she would return to her old ways right?” Sandra replied, “That is basically the just of it. Until Jinny is willing to go get the help then the rehab won’t work, actually it might work for a while but until she is the one that says I am ready to get the help I need to quit drinking then the program won’t be successful.” CD asked, “Is there anything we can do to help Jinny?” Sandra responded, “One thing is you can’t do is enable her to continue drinking. What I mean by that is you can’t give into Jinny’s requests no matter how much you want to. You have to stand your ground and basically not be there to help her to keep drinking. As long as you stand by and watch and do nothing you are enabling her to drink. She doesn’t need that she needs you to be strong and not help her with her drinking. It is called tough love and that is what it is, it is hard to do when you care about someone like you all care about Jinny but if you can do it, then it will help Jinny in the long run.” Angela asks, “So you are telling us to turn our backs on Jinny and not give her any support at all?” Sandra replies, “No I am telling you that you can’t be an enabler to her drinking. She may tell you she has it under control, but unless she is working a program than that is just a line. You have to be strong enough not to go to the bars with her or give her any alcohol at all. Or you will be part of the problem.” Casey asks, “Do you think that Jinny will ever be ready to admit that she needs help?” Sandra replied, “Casey, Jinny is just not ready at this time it doesn’t mean that she won’t be ready to get help soon. She might think about what was said tonight and decide she needs help or she might not. I know she is your sister and you want to help her get help but only Jinny can decide when the time is right.”

At the Bay

Jinny had been staring out at the water for a while not even knowing how long she had been there. She had been going over and over everything that had happened to her today. She didn’t know what to make of it. She knew that she drank too much and she knew why she drank but could she do this all by herself like she had said earlier or did she need help. She didn’t have any answers yet after thinking about this for how long she didn’t know. She knew one thing it was late and she didn’t know which way to turn to anymore. Jinny looked back out to the water for some reason the water seemed to calm her and helped her think rationally. Jinny heard a noise and noticed someone approaching, she could make out a figure but the person was to far away for her to see who was approaching. Jinny watched as the figure kept coming closer, she could now make out that the person was of the male gender but that was about all. As the person got closer Jinny saw that it was someone she knew. She thought to herself what did Magda do now call Theodore and ask him to come looking for me. I can take care of myself whether they believe it or not.

Theodore saw a shadow standing up against the wall and decided to continue. He had come here a lot lately since that night in The Anchorside when he had saw Jinny with that other man. He had come to a place they had come to together as a couple for he was having trouble letting go of Jinny even though he knew that it was the right thing to do. How could she do that to me was the question that he had kept asking himself. That and I thought we had something special; I am in love with her. I guess she didn’t feel the same way. Theodore kept his head down as he continued to walk to the place that Jinny had took him to see the view of the bay. He hated to admit it but he had been here every night since that night, this was the only place that he felt close to Jinny at and she was right when she had told him it is a great place to think about anything that is bothering you. He glanced up and continued walking towards the place Jinny had shown him.

At the Bay

Jinny was furious that Magda would pull this stunt also. How dare she Jinny thought. Theodore was closing the gap between the two. Jinny knew he was close enough now to hear her, but for some odd reason he wasn’t looking up he had his head down. Theodore was about 10 feet away from Jinny when she spoke. “Who sent you out to find me?” Theodore glanced up and saw Jinny standing against the wall. “What are you talking about?” Theodore questioned. “Don’t play that game with me Teddy, like you stumbled out here on accident. How did you know where to find me? Oh yeah I forget I showed you this place when we were dating.” Jinny stated. “Well if you must know I came out here to think Jin, I have been doing that a lot lately if you must know. Although I didn’t expect to run into you here.” Theodore stated bluntly. “Teddy don’t tell me Magda didn’t call you and ask you to come looking for me cause she was worried?” Jinny asked. “What are you talking about, I haven’t talked to Magda in a while. In fact I haven’t been over to the Division in a while. In case you hadn’t noticed. I have asked for some time off for personal reasons so I have not been to work for a while.” Theodore stated. “You are telling me you haven’t heard what happened today?” Jinny asked. “Well I wouldn’t ask what you are talking about if I knew now would I?” Theodore said. “My mistake Theodore, sorry to have bothered you.” “Whatever Jin, you know I should be the one asking you questions here, I mean after all you have a lot of explaining to do.” Theodore said. “What are you talking about Theodore?” Jinny asked. “You know what I am talking about Jinny, don’t act like you don’t.” Theodore said. “No Teddy I don’t otherwise I wouldn’t have asked.” Jinny said. “So you are denying that after we have the discussion in the parking lot at The Division you were at The Anchorside with another guy?” Theodore asked. “How did you know?” Jinny asked. “Oh great Jin, answer a question with another question. Are you admitting you were with that other guy that night at the bar.” Theodore said. “Yes I was kissing another guy at the Anchorside. Now answer my question. How did you know?” Jinny said. “Well after the misunderstanding in the parking lot I came looking for you and I saw you kissing that guy and then I left. You know Jinny I told you I loved you that day and you go do that why?” Theodore asked. “I really don’t know Teddy, I really don’t know. I thought, I don’t know what I thought Theodore, except that you deserve someone better than me.” Jinny said quietly. “What is that suppose to mean Jinny? Are you telling me that you decided for me that you were not good enough for me? What gives you that right Jin to decide who I am and not supposed to love? It doesn’t work that way Jinny, I can’t help it who I fall in love with and for your information, I fell in love with you regardless of anything you say I love you, God help me I still love you even after seeing you with that guy in the bar. I can’t get you out of my head or my heart and God knows I have tried. But that is why I am here I come out here to the place you brought me to feel closer to you. You do not have the right to tell me Jin that I can’t love you. These are my feelings and I can love who ever I choose. Don’t you think I have asked myself what I did wrong for you to turn to the other guy in the bar? I have asked myself that question every day since Jin. I thought we had something special?” Theodore said. “I wanted to make it work Teddy, I really did in fact that day in the parking lot I was going to tell you that I was going away with you for the weekend, then you dropped the news on me that you had to work all weekend and I don’t know I thought you had decided that we were not worth trying.” Jin said. “Jinny, I told you I loved you that day and you thought that I would say that to you and then decide that it wasn’t worth it, come on. I thought you knew me better than that?” Theodore said. “You just don’t understand, I thought you were deserting me like my mother did.” Jinny said quietly. “What are you talking about deserting you?” Theodore asked. “It is a long story and I don’t know if I have the strength to go thru it again tonight.” Jinny said. “What are you talking about Jinny?” Theodore asked. “Oh that’s right you don’t know do you? Well let’s just say that I have been suspended for 90 days and tonight my friends and family decided I needed an intervention at my father’s house. I l drove here afterwards and I have been here ever since.” Jinny said. “You’re saying that everyone told you about your drinking and everything?” Theodore asked. “Yep, that is about the just of it, Teddy. I told them I could do this on my own. Now I am not so sure.” Jinny replied. “You admitted that you drink to much tonight?” Theodore questioned. “Yes, I said I drink to much tonight Teddy, I also said why I drink in the first place, maybe you should have been there to give me a piece of your mind also and to let everyone else know that I am not worthy of your love.” Jinny stated. “I never said that Jin, you did. I just thought we had something good going on and I wanted to shout to the whole world that I was in love with you and yes we needed to go away for the weekend to talk about everything and go forward from there. I said I was asked to be second chair and you thought I was deserting you, I still don’t understand that one. But I wasn’t if you had given me a chance I would have said that we could go away as soon as the case was over and I wasn’t need to prep the 6 witnesses. But you never gave me that chance did you? I wish you would explain why you felt I was deserting you also.” Theodore said. “Well at tonight’s intervention I was asked why I liked to drink and I said who says I like it. I don’t like it you know Teddy, I never have. I drink to forget about.” Jinny stopped for a minute. “Don’t you know you can tell me anything Jin, I will never condemn you for it?” Theodore stated. “Alright if you want to know you see I told you my mother blew her brains out. Well what I didn’t tell you I was the one that came home from school and found her in her bathroom that day Theodore. That is why I drink to forget about it. You see every night when I close my eyes I can still see everything like it was yesterday. It is always with me and I felt that if I had been a little bit better she could have loved me and maybe she wouldn’t have committed suicide that day. There you have it Theodore all wrapped up as to why I drink to get drunk every night. So when you said that you had to work that weekend when you had been persistent about us going away, I took that as you were deserting me also.” Jinny said. “Oh Jin, if I had only known sweetheart, I wouldn’t have got your hopes up then. I should have known something was bothering you in the parking lot when you said run as fast as you can. But I didn’t know what was bothering you, I did come and try to find you to talk about it though, and that is when I saw you kissing that guy. You hurt me Jinny I had taken the chance and told you how I really felt knowing that you could reject me or say that you didn’t feel the same or anything like that and then I see you kissing him and I knew you didn’t feel the same way about me as I felt about you or why else could you have been with him?” Theodore said. “It isn’t that I didn’t feel the same way, it was just that I was hurt and wanted to forget all the pain that I was feeling Teddy, when I feel like that I get drunk and go with anyone who is around to try to feel loved I guess is the best word to describe why I do what I do. I felt that you just said that you loved me and that you thought about it and had changed your mind, and you don’t know how bad that hurt me. I had told Magda that I was going away with you cause I really wanted this to work. I never got the chance to tell you that. I am sorry Theodore I really am. I turned to the only thing that I knew that would erase the feelings I was having. I should have talked to you and I didn’t. I basically thought you were blowing me off as a lost cause. I don’t know what else I can say.” Jinny said. “I don’t either Jin, I wished you had come to me also, maybe then I wouldn’t be in the pain that I have been in for the last 2 weeks. I was committed to you entirely Jinny more that you will ever know.” Theodore said as he started to turn to walk off. Jinny said, “What is that last comment supposed to mean Teddy?” Theodore turned back around and looked at Jinny with the pain showing in his eyes. “I don’t think I can do this right now Jin, I am just so tired of hurting, I don’t want to hurt anymore. You know when I saw you here all I wanted to do was to take you in my arms and hold you and kiss you, God Jin you made me feel complete when I was with you. I have never felt that with anyone else do you know that. I just can’t do this right now.” Theodore responded. “I guess that I deserve everything that I have coming to me. I am truly sorry you don’t have to believe me but I am. One thing though before you go Teddy, I want you to know that you were the best thing in my life, and I threw it away.” Jinny said and turned to go to her car.
Theodore watched as Jinny walked out of his life again.

Magda’s car

She was driving home after that draining intervention thinking about all that had transpired tonight. At least they all knew why Jinny drinks now. But she wished that Jinny had agreed to go to King’s Point. She had meant what she said to Jinny that she wanted her back as a partner. Although Jinny may not believe that at this point and time it was true. Jinny was her best friend and she didn’t want to see her going under. That is why she had done what she did by staging the intervention with all the people that care about Jinny. As she was driving she thought I wonder if I had called Theodore if he may have been able to get thru to Jin? I mean after all Jinny seemed to open up to Theodore more than she had to anyone else she had ever dated. Jinny had said herself that she felt closer to Theodore than she had any of the others. Magda looked at the time and thought I can’t solve this tonight tomorrow is another day and maybe after a night’s sleep I can have a fresh perspective. Magda turned the corner that took her to her apartment and was glad to be going home.


CD’s car

CD was driving towards home and thought why should she go home no one is there. Jinny had said some harsh things about my personal life in there and even though CD hated to admit it Jinny was right. Why had she stayed with Paul when he had been cheating on her? She didn’t have an answer to that. But damnit Jinny should have never brought that up tonight. CD smiled although Jinny was just being tough and not taking everyone’s crap what I said that I admired about her. I guess I can see how she felt. I mean after all everyone was coming down on her and it is Jinny’s nature to fight back. Although Jinny had some pretty harsh things basically everything Jinny said about me was the truth. I had chosen to stay with Paul when I didn’t believe in what he was doing to me. That is something I have no answer for why I did. Jinny has made me think tonight.

Angela’s car

Angela thought about the events of the evening at Jinny’s father’s house. I wish I had known that Jinny had found her mother I would have never brought up about losing my mother and missing her everyday. I can’t imagine what Jinny is feeling coming home and to find your mother like that at the age of fourteen. No one should see their mother that way. I feel so bad that I mentioned that Jinny losing her mother and me losing my mother was something we had in common. I wish I had known the circumstances. I can see when Jinny is as sarcastic as she is now. She is afraid to let anyone in cause she is afraid that she will lose them like she lost her mother.

John Exstead House

“Casey, thanks for helping me clean up. Do you think that Jinny girl will get the help that she needs? I meant it when I told her I was so proud of her the day she made inspector you know.” John said. “Dad, we just have to be hope that what was said tonight will get thru to Jinny. She has always been there for me dad, why won’t she let me be there for her?” Casey asked. “I don’t know son. I just don’t know.” John replied. “Are you okay dad? Do you want me to stay here tonight?” Casey asked. “I am just tired, but if you wouldn’t mind it would be nice to have you in the house tonight.” John said. “Sure dad I can stay.” Casey said.

The Bay
Theodore watched, as Jinny was about to walk out of his life again. He didn’t know if he wanted to lose her all over again. He was still in love with her after everything that had happened. He knew that if he didn’t say anything to stop her then she would walk out of his life for good and he didn’t want that. Jinny was approaching her car when Theodore said “Jinny, wait please.” Theodore started walking towards Jinny.

Jinny’s car

Jinny had just about reached her car when she heard Teddy. “Jinny, wait please.” Theodore said. Jinny turned around to see that Theodore was walking towards her. I wonder if there is something else he would like to add, Jinny thought as she reached up and wiped her eyes before he reached her. Theodore reached Jinny and stood there looking at her. Jinny said, “What did you want Teddy?” Theodore replied, “I don’t want you to walk out of my life, Jin. I love you and I don’t want us to be apart. I mean that it will take some work to build the trust back but if you are willing to try then so am I.” Jinny just stood there looking at Theodore wondering if she had heard him correctly, if she was willing to try so was he. Jinny looked bewildered did he actually say that or did I just hear what I wanted to hear? Theodore finally spoke up and said, “Aren’t you going to say anything?” Jinny replied, “Did you say what I think you said or am I hearing things?” “If you mean did you hear that if you are willing to try then so am I, yes that is what I said.” Theodore stated. Jinny couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. “Yes Teddy I am willing to try, but only if that is what you truly want, I don’t want to hurt you again and I can’t promise anything more than I will try to get my drinking under control and I will try to not jump to conclusion without talking them out with you first.” Jinny said. “Jinny if you need help getting your drinking under control, know one thing I will gladly help you cause I love you more than I even realized. These past 2 weeks have been hell without you in my life. I am here for you anytime you need me. I do want us to try again, I want to spend my life making you happy Jinny, I will also promise to not get your hopes up and to discuss everything with you so you know I am not deserting you.” Theodore replied. Theodore walked up to Jinny and put his arms around her. He said, “God Jin, it feels good to hold you in my arms again.” Jinny replied, “It feels good to be in your arms Teddy. But you know I don’t know if I can quit drinking by myself. I just don’t know if I can. I want to try I really do, but I am afraid that I don’t have the strength to quit drinking.” Theodore said, “I have an idea Jinny, I don ‘t know if you want to try it or not, that is your call.” Jinny asked, “What is your idea?” “Well I am off for personal time why don’t you and I go away to Napa and talk things thru and I will help you through everything. I will be there every step of the way. Like I said though it is up to you.” Theodore said. “I don’t know if it will work, but I would like to try if you really want to I say let’s go for it.” Jinny said. “Good Jin, Why don’t I follow you to your apartment so you can pack and then we can go in my car to my apartment and pack and then take the first plane out of here. Sound like a plan.” Theodore suggested. “You want to leave tonight? Right this minute?” Jinny asked. “Why put it off? We should get started right away. The sooner the better, hey I am making you an offer you can’t refuse.” Theodore said. Jinny smiled at Teddy’s comment. “Fine lets do it. We can call everyone that needs to be called before we leave so no one worries about where we are. Do we have to tell them exactly where we are going though?” Jinny said. “We don’t have to tell them anything you don’t want to Jinny. We can just say we are going away for a vacation or something like that okay?” Theodore said. “I like that, I just don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up if I can’t quit on my own, you know.” Jinny said. “I understand Jin, but I have faith in you that you can do it, and like I said I will be there to help you every step of the way.” Theodore said. “You are to good to me Teddy.” Jinny said. “I love you Jin, I just want to make you happy that is all. But we should get going if we are going to catch a plane to Napa. I will see you at your apartment.” Theodore said as he leaned down and kissed Jinny before he went to his car.

I wonder how the intervention is going thought Kate. I know I shouldn’t have gone. I knew Jinny wouldn’t want me there. I mean after all I wouldn’t have wanted me there either if it was me and you see the person that had just suspended you for 90 days with no pay. But at least I did get to tell Jinny that she needs help. She is a good cop and I want her back on the force, she just has to make an attempt to get help and I will lower her suspension. I know Jinny thinks I am on her case or out to get her but I not. I see the potential that Jinny has and I am only trying to help her. I really do want Jinny to get the help that she needs.

Magda’s apartment

Magda opened her door to the apartment and there was Gabriel waiting for her. “Hi, It has been a long night and I am going to go check on Ben.” Magda said. “Okay he went to bed on time and he told me to give Mommy this.” Gabriel said. “What did Ben want you to give me?” Magda asked. Gabriel leaned forward and kissed Magda on the check. “Ben said to give Mommy a kiss from him. And this is from me.” Gabriel said as he leaned down again and kissed Magda on the lips this time. “That was nice Gabriel, I will be right back okay?” Magda said. Magda headed towards Ben’s room to check on him. Magda looks at her son sleeping peacefully. She thinks that she is lucky to have Ben in her life. Her life is going good and she is thankfully for that. And Ben has his dad in his life. She wondered where Jinny was and if she was at the bar or not. She hoped that something that was said tonight got thru to Jin. Magda leaned down and kissed Ben on the forehead and pulled the covers up to make sure that Ben was warm enough for the night. Magda went back into the living room to talk to Gabriel. “Was Ben any trouble tonight?” Magda asked. “No not at all. But I have something I want to ask you could you please sit down Mag.” Gabriel said. Magda does as Gabriel asks her and sits down in the chair in the living room. Gabriel walks over to the chair and gets down on one knee while looking at Magda he takes a ring box out of his coat pocket and looks at Magda and says “Magda, will you marry me?” Magda looks shocked from Gabriel’s marriage proposal and doesn’t know what to say to Gabriel. She just sits there and looks from the ring to Gabriel.

CD’s apartment

CD unlocks the door to her apartment and expecting to hear Paul’s voice remembers that he no longer lives there. She thought that this should be getting easier but it wasn’t. Every night was the same thing she came home to a dark empty apartment expecting to hear Paul’s voice call out to her “Candy Cane is that you?” But instead all she heard when she opened the door was silence. That is all there was anymore so much silence. She had went to their anniversary dinner expecting to tell Paul she was willing to try if he was, boy did she get a surprise. Paul is the one that called it off. After 8 years of marriage this was all that was left, silence. She remembered the day that they had moved into this apartment, back then the place was a home and filled with laughter. Now all that it was is a place to come to sleep, eat and listen to all the deadly silence. Jinny was right she needed to quit this mourning over Paul, they had decided to divorce; it is not like he died. Starting tomorrow CD was going to get on with her life, she guess she could start dating again, although it had been a while since she had been out looking, anything was better than this silence that she came home to night after night. So starting tomorrow she was going to get a new lease on life. That settled CD walked into the kitchen to get some water to drink before going to take her a nice long bubble bath to forget the worries of today. She really hoped that Jinny was serious about doing this on her own. Jinny really needed to get it under control. CD closed the refrigerator and walked towards the bathroom to wash her worries of the day away.

Angela’s apartment

Angela fished for her keys in her purse but before she could get them out Daniel opened the door for his wife. Angela said, “I thought you had to work tonight?” Daniel replied, “I got some one to cover for me Angie, after what you said about going to an intervention for Jinny I thought you might just need me tonight.” “I am glad that you are here. Could you just hold me Daniel?” Angela asked. “Always Angie always.” Daniel replied. Angela walked into the protective arms of Daniel and leaned her head on his shoulders as he held her tight. After a few minutes like this Daniel finally said, “Anything you want to talk about Angie?” “I didn’t know Jinny had it so hard, you know I didn’t know that she was the one that found her mom when she committed suicide. That had to be a shock to a fourteen year old girl coming home from school to find her mother dead like that. I can understand a little bit better why she drinks so much and is so sarcastic all the time. She has had to deal with this memory her whole life and that is sad. Her father also gave Jinny her first beer when she was just 11 years old. I wish I had known earlier, and then maybe I would have understood why she was not as friendly with me as she was with CD & Magda. She saw me as a person that had everything in my life that she had wanted. She had even said tonight and you with your doctor for a husband and a general for a father. Jinny just wanted someone to love her all her life since her mother’s death. I am glad that I went I know understand what makes Jinny do what she does and why Daniel.” Angela said. “That is sad to know that a fourteen year old comes home and finds her mother dead. I know you lost your mother at 18 from breast cancer but it had to affect Jinny more finding her dead in their home. So what happens from here Angela with Jinny?” Daniel asked. “Jinny said she was going to quit on her own, that she doesn’t need rehab. So I guess we will have to wait and see. That is all that we can do.” Angela said. “Well how about a nice hot bath to relax you Angie and then we can go to bed.” Daniel commented raising his eyebrows to Angela. “That would be nice Daniel.” Angela said.

Jinny’s apartment

Jinny pulled up outside her apartment building and looked in her rearview mirror in time to see Theodore pulling in behind her. She turned off the ignition and opened the door to get out. Theodore had gotten out of his car and walked up to Jinny’s car as Jinny was removing anything she might need out of her car since they were going away. Theodore asked, “Anything you need me to carry Jin?” “I think that I can fit everything I need out of her in this bag Teddy.” Jinny said. “If not I can help you with anything your little heart desire’s Jinny.” Theodore stated. Jinny straightened up and looked at Theodore with a smile on her face before saying, “Anything huh, what does that pertain to Teddy anything at all or just certain things?” Theodore replied, “Let’s find out.” As he leaned down to give Jinny a kiss
As the kiss started to turn passionate Theodore pulled away and Jinny just looked up at him confused. Jinny finally said, “What is the matter Teddy?” Teddy said, “I have to ask you this Jin, before we go any farther, I need to know. Did you leave the bar with that guy that night?” Jinny looked at him and wished she could tell him she hadn’t left with him but the truth was she had, but she wondered if he would believe her when she told him that she couldn’t go thru with it once they got to his place. It was the truth but how could she convince Theodore of it when she didn’t want to cause any more pain in those loving eyes of his. Jinny finally said. “Yes I left with him, but please let me finish before you look at me like that. I left the bar with him and went to his place but once I got there and we started kissing I couldn’t go thru with it Teddy. I told him that I couldn’t do this; I then proceeded to tell him there was someone else in my life that I couldn’t hurt like that. Then I got up and left him at his place and came home and drank myself to sleep. That is the whole truth and I hope you believe me and not want to change your mind about us trying all over again Teddy?” Theodore looked into Jinny’s eyes and saw that there was pain in her eyes also and that it must have taken everything she had to admit this to him. She could have lied but instead she opted to tell him the whole truth and that had to be hard for her when she knew it could cost her everything that had just transpired at the bay between them. Theodore looked at Jinny and said, “I am not changing my mind Jinny, I want us to start over and I am here for the long haul Jinny no matter what it takes. In fact I think that took a lot fro you to tell me everything when you thought it could cost you us starting over again. I am glad that you didn’t sleep with him Jin.” “How could I when deep down I was in love with you I just couldn’t admit it to myself or to you. I was afraid that you would desert me like my mother had so I just didn’t want to admit it to myself. But I realized tonight when I was at the bay staring out at the water that I love you Teddy, I had for a while and I was stupid for not seeing what you had to say before I left that parking lot. Instead I jumped to the conclusion that you had changed your mind about us. I am sorry.” Jinny said. “Did you just say that you loved me Jin?” Theodore asked. “Yes Teddy that is what I said.” Jinny replied. Theodore leaned down to kiss Jinny again and this time the kiss turned very passionate. Theodore and Jinny stood outside Jinny’s car with their arms wrapped around each other and getting to know one another again. Finally Jinny pulled back from Theodore and said “Maybe we should go inside.” Theodore looked at Jinny and said, “I agree.” Theodore leaned down inside Jinny’s car and picked up Jinny’s bag and wrapped his other arm around Jinny as they walked into Jinny’s apartment building. They arrived at Jinny’s door and Jinny unlocked the door and they went inside. Theodore put Jinny’s bag down on the chair just inside the door. Theodore then walked over to where Jinny stood and leaned down to kiss her, Jinny returned the kiss and soon they were passionately kissing again standing in Jinny’s living room. Theodore’s hand went up to caress Jinny’s face as he deepened the kiss. Jinny’s hands went to Theodore’s chest as they stood there getting acquainted again. Theodore pulled back and looked at Jinny and finally said, “If you want we can stay here tonight get reacquainted and leave for Napa tomorrow, its up to you?” Jinny said, “Would you be disappointed if I said I wanted to leave tonight for Napa?” Theodore said, “No I wouldn’t after all we have the rest of our lives.” Jinny just looked at Theodore and said, “I guess I should go pack then, huh?” Theodore said, “Yes that would be a good idea, while you are packing I am going to call my parents and let them know I am going on a vacation okay?” “Sure go ahead. Then when we go to your apartment I will call everyone and tell them I am going away on a vacation, since I have nothing but time on my hands.” Jinny said. Jinny leaned up and kissed Theodore before turning to go to her room as Theodore walked towards the phone. Theodore dialed his parents number not realizing what time it was. His father picked up the phone on the fourth ring and said “Hello” Theodore said “Sorry to wake you dad but I just wanted to let you know that I have decided to take a vacation and I didn’t want you to worry when you called me at home or work and I wasn’t there.” “So you have decided to take time to get away, I think that is a good idea son. Where are you going anyway?” Mr. Blumenthal said. “Well Dad I was thinking about going down to Napa and just enjoy myself for a much needed vacation.” Theodore replied. “If you are going to Napa why don’t you call your Uncle Patrick in London and see if you can stay at his house in Napa, I am sure he would like the idea that someone was there watching over it.” Mr. Blumenthal said. “I never thought of that dad, I think I might do that thanks for the suggestion. Do you happen to have Uncle Patrick’s phone number over in London?” Theodore asked. “Just a minute son and I will get it out of the address book.” Mr. Blumenthal said. Theodore had just finished talking to his dad when Jinny called out to him, “How long should I pack for Teddy?” Theodore grabbed the bag he had carried in for Jinny and walked back to Jinny’s bedroom and said, “I have 2 months off, so however long you want is fine with me. We could always stay a couple of weeks and come back and stay either here or at my place to Jin, it just a thought.” Theodore said as he sit Jinny’s bag down on her bed. “Well I can pack for 2 or 3 weeks and we can decide when we are down there how long to stay okay?” Jinny asked. “That is fine, like I said I have the next 2 months off we can spend time together if that is what you want Jinny?” Theodore said. “Yes Teddy I would like that.” Jinny replied. Theodore said, “Dad also said I should call Uncle Patrick in London and see if I can stay at his house in Napa. Is that okay with you Jin?” Jinny replied, “Would there be anyone else there?” “No they are all in London for the summer. They go there every summer cause that is where his wife Aunt Miranda is from.” Theodore said. “As long as no one else would be around then that is fine with me.” Jinny said. Theodore walked over to the phone on the nightstand and took out the number his father had given him and called London. The phone rang two times when someone picked up “Hello” Uncle Patrick said. “Uncle Patrick is that you?” Theodore asked. “Yes is this Teddy?” Uncle Patrick said. “Yes it is. I was talking to Dad tonight about going to Napa and he suggested I call you and see if I could stay at your house. So that is why I was calling.” Theodore said. “Why of course Teddy, like I have said before anytime you want to come down and stay is fine with me. Will it just be you or is someone going?” Uncle Patrick asked. “Well I am taking my girlfriend with me if that isn’t a problem Uncle Patrick.” Theodore stated. “No Teddy that is not a problem. You will need the combination to the garage and there is a spare key to the house in the top drawer of my toolbox in there. So help yourself to anything you that is there. The combination is 9521 and that will get you into the garage. Have fun and stay as long as you like Theodore.” Uncle Patrick said. “Thank you Uncle Patrick for everything, but I need to get going if I am going to catch a plane out of here tonight.” Theodore said. “Okay Teddy goodbye.” Uncle Patrick said. “Bye Uncle Patrick.” Theodore said. Theodore put the phone down and turned around towards Jinny to find her staring at him. “What?” Theodore asks. “Did your Uncle Patrick mind that you were bringing me Teddy?” Jinny asked. Theodore walked over to Jinny and leaned down and kissed her and said, “Uncle Patrick said that was no problem. If we are going to catch a plane we should get going though.” Theodore said as he walked over to Jinny. “I am all packed all we need to do is take my suitcase and my bag down to the car.” Jinny replied. Theodore picked up Jinny’s suitcase as Jinny grabbed her bag and followed Theodore out to the living room. Theodore opened the door and walked into the hall as Jinny turned out the living room light and closed the door to her apartment, and took a step towards her future.
