ABC's "Welcome to the Neighborhood" never made it to air and is one of the few shows to officially be canceled before airing time.
The show was a contest in which the winner will win a luxury home in Texas. The winner will be decided by the families competing which ranged from different religions, ethnics, politics, and sexual orientations.
The show's contestants were:
The Crenshaws - A religious African American family
The Eckharts - A Caucasian pagan family
The Gonzalezes - A Hispanic family
The Lees - A Korean family
The Morgans - A Caucasian family with a stripper mother
The Sheets - A heavily-tattooed Republican Caucasian family
The Wrights - A Caucasian homosexual family with an adopted African- American son
The first two episodes were screened for critics and it became lambasted for the perceived prejudices of its judges. ABC in light of the controversy decided not to air it and canceled it from their summer 2005 line-up.
The Wrights, the gay family with the adopted African-American son wound up winning the show however. To date the show hasn't aired and ABC denies anyone who asks for the rights to have it aired.
