I DID find a picture: WOW, Ripple is gone forever-lol Big Fred Fan 09-03-2008, 07:05 PM Ripple: (unavailable for purchase) The wine that made Gallo blush. Gallo Wineries of California produced this ultra affordable table wine through the 1970’s. Gallo discontinued making the product to coincide with their efforts at capturing a more upscale portion of the drinking market. All that remains of Ripple are the pop culture references from “Sanford & Son,” to the Grateful Dead to the inimitable Gordon Lightfoot’s thought of “Georgia pine and Ripple wine.” This wine has, thankfully, left the pantheon of American liquors. Only the dark cloud of Gallo’s cynicism remains to hang over an otherwise enjoyable pastime – gettin’ lit up. You learn something new every day...;) FredScuttle 09-04-2008, 01:48 AM http://www.bumwine.com/others.html There's a little bit there on Ripple, although the guy doesn't really know anything about it other than being mentioned on S&S. They even have a link to an audio file of a Rollo scene mentioned in another thread, about Rollo not liking Ripple, and the two girls glad to see it. catlover79 11-10-2008, 08:10 PM The many combinations of Ripple and other drinks (cripple, champipple, mintjipple and my personal favorite, manischipple) is in my Top 3 of all-time favorite running gags on TV. (The others would be the constant mispronounciation/misspelling of Det. Wojciehowicz's last name on Barney Miller, and Endora's referring to her son-in-law as Darwin, Durwood, Dumbo, etc.) |
