Has anyone seen this episode? It's the very first TV episode. I would think it would be about Ricky and David, but I really don't know. If anyone has it or has seen it, maybe they could give a description.

View Full Version : The Rivals honeybea 09-02-2008, 06:04 PM Has anyone seen this episode? It's the very first TV episode. I would think it would be about Ricky and David, but I really don't know. If I remember correctly David brings a girl he likes to the house and Ricky, through his natural charm, becomes a rival for the girl's attention. honeybea 09-03-2008, 10:15 AM Thanks for the info! I don't remember it being on any of the many DVD's I have so I guess it's never been "out there" yet to purchase. ILUVO&H 09-03-2008, 03:43 PM I remember seeing this episode at least once. Long long itme ago on Disney. Nancy Baker comes over to invite David to a dance where the girls invite the boys. years ago I could have sworn I had it taped, but I didn't. I do remember seeing it though. Harriet was baking Toll House cookies. I have seen a few clips of it shown in various places. One is the opening of the episode, David and Ricky throwing a football in the house, one misses and it sails across the room and his Ozzie in the gut as he walks in the front door. Another clip commonly used is of Nancy and Dave on the couch talking with Ricky keep coming in interupting them. He's eating a banana. He offers to tap dance for Nancy. She asks if he can really tap dance. He says sure I can sing too! You ought to come listen to me in the bath tub sometime. then Dave asks Harriet to call Ricky, she does, she asks him to come in the kitchen he says what for? Harriet says for about 15 minutes. Ricky comes back a couple minutes later with ice cream this time. Dave calls Mom again. Mom calls Ricky back to kitchen. I'd like to see that one again. honeybea 09-03-2008, 06:34 PM "Another clip commonly used is of Nancy and Dave on the couch talking with Ricky keep coming in interupting them. He's eating a banana. I remember this scene, but I thought it was from another episode, maybe David's 17th Birthday? I'm not positive of that title though. I'm watching DVD's I have of Petticoat Junction now, but when I'm finished, I may start watching my Ozzie and Harriet set and write small descriptions of each title. Since there's so many, I just keep confusing titles. ILUVO&H 09-03-2008, 08:53 PM You probably have seen that scene. It is used as a flashback with Hariret introducing it in at least one episode. It could be the 17th birthday episode that it is in. One of my favorites from the first season is whatever the correct name for it is, but Ricky goes to a Dance with Thorny's daughter Julie Thornberry. She actually sends him an invitation in the mail to go to the dance with her. Ricky gets it in the morning mail. Harriet tells him to write her a response so he can send it back and she can get it in the afternoon mail. Now I wasn't around back then, but did people really get their mail more than once a day? The letter from Julie starts out with .. How are you today Loverboy? honeybea 09-04-2008, 10:28 AM That sounds like a fun episode! I have very few from the first season. I've heard the same thing about morning and afternoon mail. We lived in the country when I was small, and only had one mail delivery a day. Maybe in the bigger cities they did have two deliveries a day. We hardly get mail delivered once a day now since it can be 5 pm or later on some days. In the world of O&H, anything was possible. LOL. |
