Watched a couple episodes of Seinfeld this week and there was Gordon Jump -- he played George's boss for two episodes of the final season -- I loved watching these two actors play off of each other -- the episodes were hilarious!!

Gordon was a great comedic actor. He could also play creepy very well aka The Bicycle Man on Diff'rent Strokes.

I loved him as the Big Guy, loved him as the Maytag Man, loved him as Maggie's dad on Growing Pains. Plus, he hailed from my home state of Ohio. What's not to love?

Well, other than that. I've never seen much of Diff'rent Strokes, including that episode. Thank goodness.

I don't remember seeing the Bicycle Man episode of Diffrent Strokes when ITV ran the series from 1980, and I think I'd remember seeing Big Guy (or at least Gordon Jump) being radically different. I know that there is a "highlights" clip of that episode on youtube, but I can't bring myself to look at it, as it'd feel wrong, having got used to seeing Mr Jump as the lovable buffoon in WKRP. Does that make sense to anyone out there? I know that he took the role on purpose and it did seem to hurt his career for a while - as mentioned in America's Favourite Radio Station - and that he felt that people would accept that he was an actor playing a different role, but it'd seem wrong, as I said. Maybe I'm being a bit wooly-headed...

I had forgotten about him being on Seinfeld, but I do remember him as Maggie's father on "Growing Pains".

I had forgotten that he was on Seinfeld! Those episodes with Jason were a riot! I loved him on Growing Pains and you are right... he was the Maytag Man! I didn't know that he was from Ohio, though. That's cool!

Yes, he and Gary Sandy both hailed from Ohio (from the Dayton area, I believe).

The Bicycle Man! ;)

Was that the ep where he played that sick and creepy child molester (a redundancy of terms I know).

I loved him on both WKRP and as Maggie's dad. But I have to say, I'll always remember him as Chief of Police Tinkler on Soap, and thank god not as the bicycle man. I have never seen that and I never want to. I'm sorry, but I just can't see Gordon Jump in a role like that.

On Bewitchedin the episode where Serena goes back to the 14 century and turns Darin's ancestor into a warlock(thus turning Darin into a warlock), Gordon Jump is in the episode. He plays a bartender.

That's right - I think he was also a guest star on The Mary Tyler Moore Show at one point.

In season 7 of Bewitched, Gordon popps up again in the episode, Money happy returns. He is playing a cop.

I was watching Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, and was surprised to see Gordon Jump as an auctioneer. He also turns up in the pilot movie of Starsky & Hutch as the owner of a gym, and in The Incredible Hulk episode Ricky as a mechanic.
