View Full Version : Need Help With Sound On My Laptop Comp...
Wreckless 08-30-2008, 05:42 PM Ok so a couple weeks back I deleted my sound drivers for my comp, the sound drivers I originally had for the laptop somehow got messed up so earlier this year I had to install new sound drivers, which are the ones I just deleted. I have a Sony VAIO laptop, model PCG-7Z1L and it runs on Windows Vista. I need new sound drivers because the old ones weren't compatible with my computer and the headphone jack wasn't working at all. Can somebody please help me? Links to sites I can dl for my specific comp. would be perfect. Thanks!
robyrob 08-30-2008, 06:28 PM go to the Sony site (http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-system.pl?PRODTYPE=1,24,26,66,9,70,5,72) and let it auto-detect your model and it should take you to the right page to download them
it doesn't list that particular model on SONY's site, are you sure about the model #? what does it say on the sticker on the bottom (http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/support-info.pl?info_id=265)?
.
Wreckless 08-30-2008, 06:37 PM I went to site's before and had it detect my model and it said it couldn't be found, I wonder if it has to do with my comp. being a laptop? Yes it's the right model, I checked several places on my comp. and the only place I found the model was on the very bottom, I googled it and it is a correct model, I found pictures of the exact computer I have...I can even post them if necessary..is there any other site I can go to, to dl drivers for Sony Computers? Thanks though rob..

Wreckless 08-30-2008, 07:12 PM I don't think it came with disks...the box it was in is at my Mom's house so I can't search that for manuals etc..
Wreckless 08-30-2008, 07:15 PM the computer is pretty new, i got it january 08, like right after christmas- before New Years
Wreckless 08-30-2008, 07:17 PM Rob, here is an exact pic of what my computer/laptop looks like, I googled the model number I found and went to images:

Wreckless 08-30-2008, 09:38 PM Ok I looked this question up on yahooanswers.com and found this program called SIS I downloaded. Basically, after you download the program, it tells you all the information about your computer. It says the product name of my computer is VGN-NR160E. Is the product name the same thing as the model number/model name or whatever?

apparently it is... the Software Download page for your computer is here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNNR160E
and the Realtek Audio Driver is here:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNNR160E&upd_id=3188&os_id=28
Wreckless 08-30-2008, 11:04 PM Rob, thanks but I tried that link already...I downloaded the Realtek player that's listed there, for downloading the sound drivers, then when I double clicked the icon on my desktop and was installing it, it said "this update is not intended for use with your computer model." But on the system info program I dled, that's the product name it listed my comp. is, what should I do?
