The Arts and Leisure section of the 8/31 edition of the NY Times has an article on "MTM" on DVD (link not available yet; the article is at page 17 of the print edition).
The article discusses the history of the series' availability on DVD, comments received by Fox from frustrated fans and the recent Oprah Winfrey tribute to the series. According to the article: "Fox got the message and has now committed to releasing all three remaining seasons, covering episodes from the fall of 1974 to the spring of 1977." Steven Feldstein of Fox is quoted as saying "It's the right opportunity for us to come out with the full series." No release date is given; the article notes that Feldstein is "currently awaiting a full release schedule."
PS Sorry for spelling meant to say Apparently lol, was rushing :P

Kristen 08-30-2008, 04:31 PM Oh. My. God. I don't know what to say. This is the best news I've heard in a really long time. I can't wait until release dates are announced.
- Kristen
LauraNamesake 08-30-2008, 04:45 PM OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! MTM Fans did it!!! Hopefully they come out with the release dates soon!!! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JulieSomoski 08-30-2008, 04:58 PM OMG - there is no way this is happening right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously thought the fight was over. It's been years since season 4 came out, and no word, NONE, appeared from FOX. But this . . . this is just amazing. I seriously can't believe this is happening right now!!!!!! I couldn't be happier - where can I put in my preorders? :happyface
LauraNamesake 08-30-2008, 05:14 PM I know!!!! It's absolutley UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! I almost can't believe it's true!!!! I hope they get out sometime soon because I just CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
JulieSomoski 08-30-2008, 05:57 PM I know!!!! It's absolutley UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! I almost can't believe it's true!!!! I hope they get out sometime soon because I just CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
I know what you mean - waiting is gonna be the worst part right now! As long as we have their word, though, I'll wait as long as I have to for the rest of the series!!!
LauraNamesake 08-30-2008, 07:47 PM Right. I don't have THAT much patience!! I've never seen these episodes before and it's getting to me!!! Some of them I have, but not all and it's KILLING ME!!!
Kristen 08-30-2008, 08:02 PM At least there's an end in sight. I can handle the wait now, knowing that. I'm sure we'll know more very soon, when TVShowsonDVD.com makes thier announcement.
- Kristen
robyrob 08-30-2008, 08:17 PM this is AWESOME NEWS!!! :woohoo:
of course this means we will have to get everyone we know to buy their copies ASAP so they will pump them out instead of making us WAAAIIIIIITTTT
Wreckless 08-30-2008, 08:48 PM BTW, how many seasons of MTMS are their? jw....
this is great news though
Kristen 08-30-2008, 08:51 PM There are 7, and the first 4 are already availible. So this would mean we would have the complete series someday. :)
Adamantium 08-30-2008, 08:51 PM GREAT!
Whenever there's a show that's been abandoned on DVD, I can't watch the seasons I do own, just because it's too painful. That includes two of my favorite shows Taxi and Boy Meets World (though BMW finally had some good news recently). Anyways, now I can finally get back to watching Mary Tyler Moore on DVD!
I wonder if this will be a complete series set? I'd gladly buy it, though it would be nicer for most fans to just release the last three seasons individually.
Let's see, what should Oprah have a reunion of now? LOL
THANKS OPRAH!
Wreckless 08-30-2008, 09:00 PM There are 7, and the first 4 are already availible. So this would mean we would have the complete series someday. :)
Awesome! They should let everybody be able to buy the whole collection in one box, like '70s Show will have and what Twilight Zone and Full House have already had.
Kristen 08-30-2008, 09:13 PM I think they should release the last 3 seasons individually first. Because otherwise those of us who own the first 4 seasons already would have to buy them again just to get the last 3. I think a complete series would be nice later, though. I wouln't necessarily buy it, unless there were more extras than we have now.
- Kristen
PGood97041 08-31-2008, 12:11 AM OMG, guys and girls who love the Mary Tyler Moore Show, WE DID IT!
this is the most awesome news ever!!!!
do you think steve feldstein and 20th century fox home entertainment read our emails, checked out the petition sites, maybe even ventured onto this site? whatever happened, they finally realized the love that is out there for this show! congratulations to them, and congratulations to us!!!!
i'll say this...at this point, even if they wanna put out a complete set, i'd even buy that just to have the whole series...of course, yes, it'd probably be best for most of us if they put out the remaining three seasons one at a time, but we'll see
and as long as they made this public promise, i'm not too worried about wait time
i still can't believe it!!!! if i knew how to do any of the dancing icons, i'd put one here!!!!
catlover79 08-31-2008, 12:16 AM   party: :bouncers :jig: Is it pressing our luck to request the last two seasons of The Bob Newhart Show, too? In any case, awesome news!!
PGood97041 08-31-2008, 12:45 AM OMG, I'm just reading the New York Times article now, and I think I'm the "polite" guy who called Mr. Feldstein and got the ball rolling!
I may not have done anything more important in my whole life! Well, at least I've never been more proud in my whole life!
Between the comments on our board and the amazon.com petition and Oprah, we got the ball rolling, and Mr. Feldstein and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment picked it up and are running with it!
This is almost too good to be true! Great work people!!!!
The one thing the article pointed out that I hadn't noticed was The Mary Tyler Moore Show won an Emmy each of the last three seasons, and it wasn't out on DVD! While some mediocre stuff was!
Kudos to Steve and his group for realizing this and rectifying it!!!!
Joker85 08-31-2008, 12:47 AM This is excellent news! It's about time!! It would be nice too if they'd release them all relatively close together. Maybe a season every other month until it's done. We've all waited long enough, especially those of us who have yet to see most of the last 3 seasons for the first time. I have unfortunately only seen three episodes from those seasons. Now I get to change that! :)
benjamoon 08-31-2008, 12:50 AM Hooray! I was so excited to see the news on tvshowsondvd.com!!!
PGood97041 08-31-2008, 01:16 AM I just realized...as happy as some of us old-timers are to see these shows again, some of the young 'uns are gonna be seeing them for the first time.
They'll get to experience what we did!
What a great thing!
Leigh Ann 08-31-2008, 11:24 AM This is the best news in a long time!! I hope we get some dates soon! It would be awesome if we could get Season 5 for Christmas!!!
LauraNamesake 08-31-2008, 11:28 AM LIKE MEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! Why do you think I'm so excited!! And BTW PGood97041, you ARE the "polite guy" who called!! I kinda was excited because I, never doing anything important in my life (as yet..) kinda thought that we helped, and I'm part of "sitcomsonline.com" so I thought that everyone who has sent an email, or made a call, or signed a petition has helped. It made me feel important!
I've only seen some of the later season episodes, and they all are like in my top favorites! So I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited to see the rest!!
Oh and I REALLY HOPE they don't release it as a boxed set yet, because even though we would get the last three, I'm not sure my dad would be too happy with that... I got the first 4, but then when I put them in a DVD case before my dad put them on our computer through Handbrake, someone must have kicked them out of our car, and no matter what I couldn't get them back. So, I was dying without them, so my dad went to B&N and bought me the 4th season again. He wanted to buy the rest on the internet, so he looked, and it was cheaper to buy all 4 the just 3, so he did. So now he has bought 1-3 2 times, and 4 3 times. I really hope they release them individually, but I don't think he wouldn't let me buy them if they came out in a complete set considering how excited I was when I read the post. I ran downstairs and I was like WE DID IT!! WE DID IT!! I can't WAIT for them to come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 :thanks: :clap :triplets :eat: :bouncers :rainbow1: popcorn: :mango :bump
Kristen 08-31-2008, 05:47 PM The only thing that worries me a bit is, what if Season 5 doesn't sell well enough to please Fox? Are we gonna end up right back where we were? I mean, I know they said they're committed, but it's easy to say that NOW. Don't get me wrong, I'm as ecstatic about this as anybody, but after all we've been through, I'd hate to get let down AGAIN.
- Kristen
JulieSomoski 08-31-2008, 07:18 PM I think the fact that FOX let us know personally that they are committed to finishing the show on DVD is good enough for me. Plus, I really doubt season 5 will sell badly - fans have learned that we have to buy these seasons sets no matter what! Plus, FOX said that the reason wasn't "poor sales," but a "glutted marketplace," which really doesn't make much sense, but at least its a reason.
I'm hoping its not a complete series set yet, though, I'd rather just get the seasons sets out first. I wouldn't mind if FOX released the last 3 seasons at the same time, though - that would be the best thing, IMO.
LauraNamesake 08-31-2008, 08:36 PM Definatley. I'm out of watching them in order. So the best thing would be to release 5-7 as a set.
MTM fan - Holly 08-31-2008, 09:24 PM I am thrilled to hear this news!
I also think “glutted market” makes sense. There were too many old TV shows released at once. Offering too many shows from the same era forced consumers to choose between shows available. This will give everyone the chance to see the release in its own light and appreciate it.
This was the best present this weekend.
Thanks for all the efforts that everyone put into getting this message across to the appropriate authority.
PGood97041 09-01-2008, 01:53 AM maybe our next group project can be a telethon so LauraNamesake can get Seasons 5-7!
Kristen 09-01-2008, 03:22 AM maybe our next group project can be a telethon so LauraNamesake can get Seasons 5-7!
Haha, count me in! I'm really excited for those of you who haven't seen these eps. yet. Believe me, it's going to be worth the wait! Season 4 barely scratches the surface of Sue Ann....she's got a LOT of classic eps. later on. Can't wait to hear what some of our younger members think of them!
- Kristen
Mrs. Roper 09-01-2008, 08:59 AM I am SOOOOOOOOO excited that Fox FINALLY announced they will be releasing these 3 seasons!!! Hopefully season 5 will release before Christmas. What a great way to help boost sales for it!!!!
LauraNamesake 09-01-2008, 09:30 AM I have seen some of the later episodes because of VHS tapes I've bought and Kristen who has sent me some of the ones from the later season (Thanks again!!!!) and I can't waitto see all of them. From what I've seen, the later seasons 4-7 were better than the earlier ones. I want to see Murray In Love because I still can't believe what I've read about it.
JMFabiano524 09-01-2008, 12:43 PM This is awesome. I was ready to accept otherwise, to tell you the truth, but a part of me never stopped believing. It'll be great to have all the episodes hopefully...even if it'll be weird to see no more Rhoda or Phyllis. (hint, hint on your next mission Fox :-))
Benno123 09-01-2008, 02:42 PM I hope that "The Last Show" will feature the original ending credits with the cast bow and the final curtain call. I think that should be included, atleast as bonus feature. And since there has been such a long delay, some bonus features could be the reunion special from 1991 or 1992, as well as the one from a few years back, and even the Inside TV Land feature would be nice.
Just my suggestions .... but the release of the final 3 seasons is the best news I have heard in a long time!
TV DVD Fan 09-01-2008, 03:01 PM This is indeed great news... but I'll believe it when I see it. Fox has made empty promises before. I wish they were more committed to the good shows. "Son of the Beach" and "Stacked" became bigger priorties to them than one of the most successful shows of all time. I know we prob. won't get any, but special features would soften the blow.
JulieSomoski 09-01-2008, 05:07 PM At this point, I could care less about special features. The ones were got were excellent, and since there hasn't been any on the last 2 releases, they'll probably continue with that pattern. As long as we get the episodes out onto DVD, I couldn't be happier!
ClassicTVGal 09-01-2008, 05:21 PM Yes, I heard about this. Got in several E-mails over it.
I believe a GREAT 'thank you' goes out to the gentleman who helped with these releases. *smiles*
Wonderful news, guys!
PGood97041 09-02-2008, 02:53 AM That WOULD be great if Season 5 came out right around Christmas!
I could sneak out and purchase it in between many viewings of "Christmas and the Hard Luck Kid II"!
PGood97041 09-04-2008, 08:33 PM Oh, I forgot to ask...are any of you going to do a "Season 5 Marathon" when it comes out, as in watch all the episodes straight through?
Has anybody ever done that with any of the earlier releases of a season on DVD?
I'm so eager, I'm thinking about it. Although in general I was only watching one every Saturday night (just like the old days) since I got my DVD player a year and a half ago, to stretch them out until S5 got here.
shipoopi 09-05-2008, 06:16 PM When my brother told me this news it made mowing the lawn in the heat seem like it was like a Minnesota winter-break. The BEST news in years!
The neighbors must think I'm crazy doing my "gonna make it after all" hat toss in the yard!!!
Now if Sony would just release the final three seasons of "All in the Family", I'd have the perfect Saturday night viewing again.
JulieSomoski 09-05-2008, 07:56 PM So, according to TSOD, the remaining 3 seasons may be released as a complete series set. It's just a rumor, though, which they got from out of a column at Movie Unlimited. I'm really hoping for individual season sets of the last 3 seasons.
I think it's a blow to fans who have bought the first 4 seasons eagerly waiting for season 5. Why waste money on more than half the series of which we already own an a complete series set? I'm hoping it isn't true, though, and that we do get season sets. I think I'm going to email FOX once again to give them my imput. It couldn't help but try!
Kristen 09-05-2008, 09:24 PM I'm with you, Julie. I REALLY don't want a complete series yet. I think it would be totally unfair to the fans to release it now. Unless they still do individual seasons at the same time, or something. I just hope we get some concrete answers from Fox soon.
LauraNamesake 09-05-2008, 10:12 PM I know!! When I see the release date, I'll be better, but waiting until then is killing me!! And I am so excited for season 5, but I love watching new episodes, and since I have never seen most of the rest f the show before, it's like a new show to me, so I don't want to blow it in one day. (Although I make take a sick day from school to do some watching...maybe one of those days where you have a big assembly with no importance and you have like 15 min. class periods so you are bored to death the whole day...that would cure it!!)
Leigh Ann 09-06-2008, 10:37 AM It would be a bad thing to release a complete series set, now. I hope it doesn't happen!! I have no idea what I'd do with my Seasons 1-4 that I already have. And a complete series set would probably cost more than the individual ones. I just hope we hear a date soon. Like other people, I'd feel better if we knew when Season 5 was coming.
JulieSomoski 09-06-2008, 03:21 PM I'm with you, Julie. I REALLY don't want a complete series yet. I think it would be totally unfair to the fans to release it now. Unless they still do individual seasons at the same time, or something. I just hope we get some concrete answers from Fox soon.
I'm not a fan at all of complete series set, so it definitely would be unfair to us who bought the first 4 seasons. I wouldn't mind seeing the last 3 seasons come out at the same time, but I'm hoping their individually boxed so at least they'll match on my shelf. FOX really needs to come out and tell us their exact plans with this show.
MTMUKFan 09-06-2008, 04:15 PM To be honest I would probably prefer a complete series set, at least this eliminates the risk of them not releasing seasons 6 & 7 after 5
LauraNamesake 09-06-2008, 07:37 PM I would LOVE a set of 5-7!!! That would be THE best because then I could stop recording them by VCR into my computer, which usually ends up taking like 5 tries, and you can't find out if it's good until the end, so it takes forever, so it would be GREAT for a 5-7 because then I wouldn't have to burn them to DVD.
Joker85 09-06-2008, 11:06 PM I'm with you, Julie. I REALLY don't want a complete series yet. I think it would be totally unfair to the fans to release it now. Unless they still do individual seasons at the same time, or something. I just hope we get some concrete answers from Fox soon.
I agree Kristen! I don't think it would be fair to release 5-7 ONLY in a complete series set. Now if they wanted to release 5-7 as one set I would be fine with that, but it would be ridiculous to have to buy seasons 1-4 again just to see the last three seasons. sigh. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
PGood97041 09-07-2008, 12:10 AM wow, i just read the story about the theory that it's going to be a complete set
that wouldn't bother me, because i could afford it, and i agree: "just get all the seasons out!"...if only five comes out, there's still the possibility they could hold out six and seven
but i can see where others would be upset about already having bought 1-4
TV DVD Fan 09-07-2008, 12:52 AM If I had to, to get the last three seasons, I would buy the complete series set. But they better make it affordable for those of us who've shelled out over 120 dollars so far for seasons one through four. But I would really rather them to be released individually. It doesn't pay anymore to be an avid DVD collector... we're always the ones to get screwed.
LauraNamesake 09-07-2008, 08:39 AM My mom said that she will force my dad to buy the set if it comes out like that. He's not happy that he might be buying them a third time...but my mom says I've waited too long and it's not fair so...
PGood97041 09-08-2008, 01:56 AM sounds like it's two against one, so dad may have no choice!
LauraNamesake 09-08-2008, 06:27 PM Hehehe.... When it comes to a decision like that, Mom is the boss!! (I also think that she wants to see them again because she secretly watches them on the apple tv, even though she claims that she doesn't I know she does... but hey that's in my favor right!!??)
Kristen 09-08-2008, 09:38 PM I think if your mom hadn't taken your side, the rest of us here would've had to take up a collection to get you a set! LOL There's no way we could have one of our regulars be deprived. :)
If they do a complete series (which I hope they won't!!), I think I know a couple people I could give S1-4 to.
- Kristen
JMFabiano524 09-08-2008, 10:55 PM I agree that we need to wait and see, but it depresses me to think we'll get the rest of MTM but there's still something to get upset about nonetheless.
As always, I say your best chance is to write to Fox with your suggestions about this! (If there's a Complete Set, what I'd do is make a "rest of it" mini-set of 5-7) But they have not said anything either way yet, remember that. So in the interim, tell them what you'd like to see.
Oh and put in a good word for a certain two of Mary's friends :-)
Kristen 09-09-2008, 12:57 AM Yeah, I've been thinking about writing to Fox again. But I don't want to sound like I'm bugging them (although I sort of am, hehe!). I just hope they have the sense to know that the fans are not going to want to buy S1-4 all over again. The NYT article said the fans were a factor, so they should do what's right for us.
- Kristen
LauraNamesake 09-09-2008, 04:21 PM I think if your mom hadn't taken your side, the rest of us here would've had to take up a collection to get you a set! LOL There's no way we could have one of our regulars be deprived. :)
If they do a complete series (which I hope they won't!!), I think I know a couple people I could give S1-4 to.
- Kristen
Hehe!! Thanks!! But I don't think there are any worries...
If they did I would either keep 1-4 in the car, which I already have my one extra 4 in the car, so I would then give the other season 4 to my aunt who loves the show but can't afford to buy the series.
JulieSomoski 09-09-2008, 06:05 PM I wrote to FOX with my thoughts. I didn't want to sound naggy or anything (LOL), but I thought that if they are releasing the remaining seasons, we should give them our imput!
PGood97041 09-10-2008, 03:19 AM I'm not going to write them again, for fear of the nag factor causing them to change their minds on releasing all the seasons. But if a few of you have sent those concerns along about people already having bought 1-4, that's certainly a legitimate point, and maybe they do listen to the fans.
I hate to be cynical, but my guess is they're going to do what they want and put out a complete set. If so, I do rather like the idea of giving our old 1-4s to family, friends, heck, even complete strangers. That way more people can enjoy the show, or some people who haven't seen it can experience its greatness.
I wonder if libraries would take them too; don't they all do CDs and DVDs now?
Kristen 09-10-2008, 04:37 AM I sent an email earlier. I was worried about the so-called "nag factor," but we're real fans, and I think we have a right to let the studio know what we want to see. At least then we know we tried. I also made sure to mention that they should try to include as much of the original music as possible. I would hate for us to lose out on classic moments such as Mary singing (or, rather, attempting to sing, hehe) "One for My Baby," simply because the song couldn't be obtained.
Guess now all we can do is wait and see. Hopefully our patience will pay off. :)
LauraNamesake 09-10-2008, 05:57 PM OH MY GOSH I will be so upset if they take out "One For My Baby" by Mary. That's GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT!!
MTM fan - Holly 09-11-2008, 11:06 PM To: PGood97041
Libraries do take them. If they have enough copies of it, they will sell them during their fundraiser. Also, the hospice centers for sick and elderly might take them too.
That is exactly what I planned on doing, if they come out with the entire season set. I am sure there are many out there who, given the chance, would enjoy watching this show.
PGood97041 09-12-2008, 01:06 AM yes, the hospice idea is another good one
if my local library doesn't need them, i'm sure i can find a hospice/elderly care center
doing something nice with seasons 1-4 and helping to keep TMTMS out there will sort of take the sting out of having to buy them "twice", which the cynic in me doesn't realistically see any way we can avoid
PGood97041 09-16-2008, 10:15 PM Just wondering...do we think they'll keep all the extras we've already been given on a complete set, if they do go the complete set route?
Kristen 09-16-2008, 11:25 PM I think it would be pretty stupid for them not to. I think if anything, they'll put MORE stuff on S1-4, to get those of us who might be reluctant to buy them over again. Usually with complete series, they use bonus material to "force" fans to go out and buy the series instead of individual seasons. I guess right now all we can do is wait.
PGood97041 09-17-2008, 12:09 AM You're probably right Kristen.
Well at least that would ease the sting a bit for those who wouldn't be happy at having to buy 1-4 again to get the whole set.
Hey, maybe they'll include the famous "alternate ending" when Mr. Grant brings Mary to the bedroom, and then all you can hear is "Oh, Mr. Grant!" If it really exists.
Too bad there's not some previously unreleased episode of TMTMS that they could put out. I'm sure THAT would draw some interest.
At the very least, I still would love them to include the bloopers. A couple of those are priceless!
Kristen 09-17-2008, 12:33 AM I don't think that alternate ending exists. But I would LOVE to see the curtain call from "The Last Show." Bloopers would be nice, too. I think they def. should get the surviving cast members to do commentary on a few of the memorable eps. *cough*Chuckles*cough* ;)
catlover79 09-17-2008, 12:59 AM I don't think that alternate ending exists. But I would LOVE to see the curtain call from "The Last Show." Bloopers would be nice, too. I think they def. should get the surviving cast members to do commentary on a few of the memorable eps. *cough*Chuckles*cough* ;)
:yeahthat
PGood97041 09-27-2008, 11:24 PM Anybody hear anything? Anything at all????
Kristen 09-28-2008, 01:37 AM No, and I'm getting impatient, too. (Well, "getting" may not be the right word - I've been impatient all along! hehe) I hope we get more info soon! It'd be nice tok know what Fox's plans are. Why not give them a call again? ;) J/k, of course!
PGood97041 09-28-2008, 02:12 AM Ha ha...I'm tempted, but that may be counterproductive at this point...I'm sure it'll be out sometime. It's just that for that last year or so I've watched one or two eps every Saturday night, and now I'm caught up...when I SHOULD have Seasons 5-7! Oh well...we've been patient, a little more couldn't hurt.
Kristen 09-28-2008, 04:31 AM Well, if it helps anybody, as practically the only one here with clear memories of S5 +, I can say that these eps. ARE worth waiting for. I know that's prob. not much of a consolation, but it's the best I can do. At least we're all in the same boat.
- Kristen
JulieSomoski 09-28-2008, 04:48 PM I'm getting very impatient myself. Haven't seen the last 3 seasons' episodes in years, so I really want these DVD sets to come out soon. I can't wait much longer. Too bad they couldn't have put 1 out before Christmas.
LauraNamesake 09-28-2008, 05:54 PM Yeah I was hoping for that. I have never seen these and I'm losing hope as if I will ever see them all. :( :( :( :(
HURRY FOX!!!!!! AT LEAST GIVE US A RELEASE DATE!!!!!!
PGood97041 10-30-2008, 01:16 AM so, gang, are we thinking there's any chance they release a boxed set, or even one season, before Christmas?
Kristen 10-30-2008, 11:16 AM I doubt it. At this point, I'm thinking the best we'll get is a release date by then. This "no news" thing is really getting to me. I'd take anything at all - even an update to say "we're working on it." LOL I've thought about emailing TSOD, but I figure they're not going to tell me anything we don't know. *Shrugs*

MTMUKFan 10-30-2008, 03:14 PM We definately wont get anything by Christmas, they are announcing sets now coming out in Feb 09 so if anything it will probably be a march/april release *if anything*...
PGood97041 10-30-2008, 04:53 PM Interesting.
All right, I won't get my hopes up for TMTMS for Christmas.
In fact, maybe I'll aim towards getting The Dick Van Dyke Show. At least that's a lot of Mary!

April would be good! Right near my bday (April 5 ;) ). I just keep thinking I could relax a bit if I at least had some clear idea from Fox of when it's coming. I wonder if they know how frustrating this is for fans. And if they do, do they care?

MTMUKFan 11-01-2008, 03:11 PM I know its fustrating, really hope something will happen soon...
It's worse for us Bob Newhart Show fans too because nothing has been said about this, and according to Bob Newhart, amazon is urging FOX to release seasons 5 and 6
PGood97041 11-02-2008, 12:43 AM kristen, at least you have the episodes on tape...some of us didn't have such foresight!
and MTMUK fan, that's unbelievable about the bob newhart show!
so much dreck out there, and we can't get classic series released!!!!
MTMUKFan 12-01-2008, 02:19 PM Just got this back:
We do not have an exact date when we will have season 5 of Mary Tyler Moore available. You can check back with us after the new year or go to www.foxstore.com website for any future releases.
Thank you,
Fox Consumer
Wrote to them after seeing a review on amazon.com for MTM season 5 stating that it was coming out in Febuary, so that doesnt seem likely...
Kristen 12-02-2008, 01:37 AM Yeah, I've heard of other people getting emails like that. :( I went to foxstore.com just now and searched around. They have a 1-800 number you can call. I wonder if that would be a more direct way to contact Fox than the famous foxdrop email address. If I weren't so chicken about making phone calls, I'd prob. try it just to see! LOL

I doubt it, Kristen. :(
PGood97041 12-02-2008, 03:43 AM Well, they made the announcement at the end of August, so it did seem kind of iffy to me that it'd be here for Christmas, and now it's looking like it's going to be after February.
My thinking continues to be that after February, if we haven't heard anything, that'll be six months, which is enough time that we should have gotten some word. So by then, I'll be ringing up Steve Feldstein, the head honcho, myself!
But, thinking positively, at least when they say the don't have an EXACT date, to me that at least indicates there IS going to be a date. Let's keep our hopes up!
Kristen 12-02-2008, 03:48 AM Yeah, PGood, sounds like we're on the same page here. (We seem to do that a lot! hehe) Wasn't there a time when an email to the foxdrop address would get a reply saying they had "no plans"? So that's def. a step in the right direction. At least we know it's still on their radar. I wish there was something more concrete, but I'll take what I can get!

Lee G 01-07-2009, 04:21 PM I've never really been a fan of this show, but I have an open mind about it. If the whole series comes out on DVD, perhaps I'll buy it. I'll be checking the TV DVD news for any announcement.
PGood97041 01-08-2009, 12:48 AM OK, here's something interesting, even though I don't know how accurate this is.
I hadn't been on amazon.com in a month, and in the interim, under the TMTMS season 5 page, somebody posted this:
Hi all. I just spoke with some at the foxstore.com customer service office. He said that they all received an email from corporate advising that Season 5 (only) will be released in February; no word on the remaining seasons.
So if you believe that, season 5 will be out in february, and they'll probably release all the seasons individually!!!!
catlover79 01-08-2009, 12:49 AM We can only hope!! Thanks for passing that along.
MTMUKFan 01-09-2009, 05:11 PM We can only hope!! Thanks for passing that along.
Unfortunately that is a load of rubbish. It's not true at all I'm afraid, email foxdrop if you dont believe me...
Sorry folks as much as I hate it its just not true
JMFabiano524 01-09-2009, 07:53 PM And so the mystery continues...
Here's something I wondered: with "Rhoda" being released through Shout! Factory, is Fox giving the MTM shows to them, and THAT'S who will release the remainder of TMTMS?
Kristen 01-09-2009, 10:22 PM I don't think they will, b/c when I emailed Foxdrop recently, they said they didn't have a release date yet, which sounded to me like they were still planning to release it themselves, they just don't know when. Plus if Shout! were planning to release TMTMS, I think they'd have announced it along with Rhoda, if not before.
robyrob 01-09-2009, 10:24 PM man, they need to just set a date already
