"[Mackenzie] is a very good, good, sweethearted woman who obviously is going through an amazingly difficult time," ex-One Day at a Time sibling Valerie Bertinelli told Entertainment Tonight.

"She doesn't need our judgment, she just needs our prayers...I love her, I love her to death. She knows how much I love her, and I'm always there for her. Always."

What a sad, sad story. Mac is going to need all the love and support she can get right now.

Agreed, it is nice to know though that Valerie has got her back.

That's very touching and a really sweet thing for Valerie to say. I hope MacKenzie gets well soon. Today, Me-TV showed the wonderful two-parter "Jealousy" where Juiie takes the job as a lead singer in a country-rock band and falls for the piano player, who Barbara was crushing on. In the episode Mackenzie sings a few times and was terrific. :)

From reading Mac's book, it was touching to read about her decades-long friendship with Val, which continues to this day. :D

Hopefully Philips can get her life under control. She led everyone to believe she'd been clean and sober for a number of years, when apparently, she was still struggling with her addictions on some level.

Now that her book controversy has subsided somewhat, I wonder how Mac is holding up - and if she has mended fences with her family.

Well, I think coming out with the revelation of her relationship with her father has divided the family somewhat. Philips' ex-wife dismissed MacKenzie's claims, but Chynna believes her, while I believe that Bijou does not.

What a mess!

Chynna is standing by Mac - here are clips of Chynna on Oprah regarding the mess (from 9/25/09):

I think Bijou ultimately accepts that it happened, but doesn't want to believe it since that's not the man she knew. And since she didn't ever see her father in that light, she's probably livid that the public now does.

That's a good observation, Michael. If that's the case, I can't blame Bijou for feeling that way.

Mack is a very courageous woman. I admire her willingness to put herself in the line of fire in order to help and inspire other survivors. And it's very sweet that Denny's daughter is supporting Mack since Denny is no longer around to support her himself.

Looking back, what do the people reading these boards think of the old High on Arrival scandal?

Were you shocked by it? Disbelieving? Sympathetic?

Personally I thought John Phillips was the devil.

Its weird to think how when she was suffering from this sexual abuse in addition to her drug abuse, which he encouraged she was able to make it to the set at all.

Horrific.:(
