I'd like to wish those starting a new school year good luck.

Many of the districts here are starting today (25th). My sister starts her first day of high school today. It doesn't seem possible that she can be starting 9th grade already. My little nephew who is 4 starts Pre-K today. My niece starts 5th grade today, my other nephew started 6th grade last Monday. My two step-nieces start 6th and 9th grade today.

On my mom's side of the family, I am grandchild #5 of 12. This year, grandchild #11 of 12 is a high school senior - hard to believe. The final grandchild is a high school sophomore this year... Grandchild #1 is one of my sibs, and he graduated in 1998. :eek:

Anyway, I hope you guys have fun in school this year!

I haven't been to school in a very long time, but I hope everyone has a wonderful school year!

Yes it is. Here, it's used to describe the levels of high school and university. Ages are inside parentheses.

Freshman - 9th grade in high school/1st year of university (usually 14-15/18-19)
Sophomore - 10th grade in high school/2nd year of university (usually 15-16/19-20)
Junior - 11th grade in high school/3rd year of university (usually 16-17/20-21)
Senior - 12th grade in high school (final year)/4th year of university (final year) (usually 17-18/21-22)

I'm a senior this year. It's really scary that in a year I'll be starting college :mrtarver:

i started my sophomore year of college a week ago. it was proven last year that i'm WAY too stupid for an associate's degree, so i'm just aiming for certificates in bookkeeping, office assistance and word processing. because of all the music classes i'm taking alongside the important ones, it will take me an extra semester (fall of 09) to finish the latter two certificates, but oh well.

I am a little jealous reading about everyone starting school this week though. Today was our ninth day of school. I barely remember summer anymore ;)

yup first year is freshman, second is sophomore, third is junior, fourth is senior

I know how some feel there first day in school when I moved down to the town that I am in in 1977, I was the new kid and had to take a couple special ed classes. anyways i hated school most kids picked on me because I weas new untill my 10th year was fine and the 11th, and 12th, but Jr high was awful for me. GOOD LUCK did not mean to scare ya lol.

Yeah...we started the 18th.


And so far this year has been a mixed bag. I seriously hate some of the people I work with. And I hate noon recess.

but Jr high was awful for me.

I think Jr. High sucks for everyone!
