Does anyone else think that it would have been a better idea to just end the show after John died instead of continuing it?

Well, I can see where you are coming from. Yet, I think it was great for the shows character. It allowed the kids and even the wife to be a little more stronger mentally and emotionally. Just look at the kids from season 1 to the kids they turned into when the show ended to see what I mean.
