tvtrader 08-22-2008, 07:19 PM According to VEI. I sent them an email today and surprisingly got a quick reply. I'm not sure if it's a standard reply that other people have gotten but I sure hope they keep their word. Here is my original email to them and their reply....

Subject: Gimme A Break Season 3
To Whom It May Concern:
I just wanted to send an email requesting seasons 3-6
of Gimme A Break! be released on DVD. I imagine the
reason why season 3 hasn't been released is due to the
sales of the first two seasons. I think a reason why
is that the first two seasons of Gimme A Break! are
not the Gimme A Break! most people think of. There
were drastic changes to the series after season 2,
including new writers, producers, and cast members. I
think people best remember Gimme A Break! for the
later seasons with Joey Lawrence, Thelma Hopkins and a
much better theme song. I believe if the later
seasons were released, you would see a drastic rise in
DVD sales.
VEI'S RESPONSE:
I appreciate your analysis on the show. We have every intention to
release
the remaining seasons.
It's only fair to continue the future releases. VEI is not like the
other
studios for incomplete seasons out in the marketplace.
Season 3 is scheduled for release in 2009. Please keep checking in for
any
release updates or visit www.tvshowsondvd.com.
Sincerely
VEI
Robert 13 08-25-2008, 10:06 AM I hope it's true. I'm ready to buy "The Complete Series" uncut and in high-quality right now. I hope it doesn't take too long. It would be nice if they released Seasons 3 & 4 next year. :)
Scoobiedoo30 08-25-2008, 12:35 PM this is good news Thanks for shareing the e-mail with us.
TV_Fan 08-25-2008, 01:38 PM Hmmm this certainly doesn't sound like any email I've gotten from VEI. Maybe those angry emails I sent finally got to them lol. I really hope it's true but I'm not getting my hopes up. I send an email to them myself, let's see if I get the same response.
Wildchats 08-28-2008, 10:01 AM That's amazing they are going to release all 6 seasons of the series. I'd be happy if they speed up with seasons 3 and 4. The final 2 aren't as great as those 2 were. I think seasons 3 and 4 were the best of the series.
Robert 13 08-29-2008, 09:39 AM I wish they would speed up the releases too. I, actually, like Season 6. There are a few episodes that are hysterical like when Nell is stuck outside the window and when Joey becomes a gigolo and Nell tries to please her boss by bringing his daughter and Joey together.
**UPDATE**
I also received an e-mail from VEI.
Gimme A Break S/3 will be released but not on or before the Christmas season. The projected released date for the subsequent season will be in early 2009.
So it looks like the next season is coming. Hopefully, Seasons 3 & 4 will be released in 2009. Let's all be sure to buy the next set to make the release a huge sales success.

Wow well this is a relief. I haven't gotten an email from them yet but it certainly does appear to be on their schedule. I will definitely buy S3 & plan to buy all seasons. This is one show that I would buy a complete series set of if it came out tomorrow. This is great news although I wish it were sooner. But I waited this long, right!
I have a feeling that seasons one and two actually sold pretty well for them. I think they were reluctant to release season three because of high music costs for season three (I think that's when a lot more music started being used) and they were waiting to see if Universal would release more seasons here in the States. Apparently they waited on Universal enough and feel confident that they could make enough profit on the subsequent seasons. I mean really, how much could they be making on their stupid crap shows like Cheaters that they sell?
I only hope that the episodes are complete & music better NOT be replaced or omitted. VEI's track record is good though for music on their DVD so they better not disappoint us.
Smartboy 09-03-2008, 12:11 AM Bringing this thread to the top is really just one more attempt to stiumlate some more conversation about this fine series! I too would love to see more seasons come out on DVD, but I have pretty much bleed dry what I can think of to say about them. Two episodes that I have posted quite a bit about are "Samantha's Protest" and the one in which Andy Gibb appears. However, nobody, so far, has seemed too interested in responding to my messages about any of these realities. Maybe, if more people could get aquaited with these episode, they would have more to say about them. Take care for now!

I love the Andy Gibb episode. Julie's friends in that episode are so catty but so funny. But my favorite episode from Season 3 is hands-down the New York 2-parter. I have loved that episode since I was a little kid watching on my grandparents' old console tv. The part where Nell asks the guy for a light and then a cigarette, puffs and then stomps it out and walks away is hysterical.
Smartboy 09-03-2008, 09:39 PM I too enjoyed the New York episode. Throughout the two-parter, there was the whole business about the drug traffic and the police getting caught up in the act and the whole bit. After returning to their home town, Nell says to Addie that, when you really break it down, New York is not really all that different from Glenlawn. At the point in which she says this, a robber wearing a ski mask approaches them on the poarch, holds his gun up to there faces and takes their purses! How funny!
Ron Ron 09-04-2008, 10:14 PM I can't wait for Season 3!!
Smartboy 09-06-2008, 11:51 PM I am glad to see that at least this page is getting some action! There are a lot of pages on this site in which it has been weeks if not months since anyone other than me has posted anything! When and if the third season eventually comes out on DVD that might stimulate some more conversation. On this thread, I have mentioned my fondness for "Samantha's Protest" as well as the one with Andy Gibb. Another one that I enjoy is the one in which the chief entertains the mayer in hopes of obtaining a new patrol car. There were a lot of funny lines in that one!

Now I really can't wait for them to release Season 3. I just realized it also contains another favorite episode of mine "Herbie". When the storm comes and Nell is standing in the doorway, I burst out laughing. Love that episode!
tvshowsrock.5 09-07-2008, 02:37 PM Believe it or not her name is Telma Hopkins there was n h in the word.

I also like the "Herbie" episode. I especially like the way that Katie's hair is styled in this episode. She looks really nice in curls! Also, I always thought that her character looked nice with a purse over her shoulder. In the scene in which she and Julie go to the corner store, she is carrying a pretty purse. I thought that in this scene, she looked really decent!
Scoobiedoo30 09-08-2008, 11:55 PM is there any cover art for season 3 yet
Smartboy 09-12-2008, 09:30 PM I would like to make a suggestion of what I think might make good cover art for the Season 3 DVDs. That is, if they ever decide to release them! Like I have mentioned a bunch of times, my favorite episode of this season is "Samantha's Protest". I think that maybe, on the cover of the set, they should show the chain of protesters at the mission school. I would pay top dollars to have my very own picture of Julie in that long blue skirt! In my opinion, she looked like an angle! Throughout the episode, I thought that she acted like an angle too! God bless you Lauri Hendler!
Wildchats 09-14-2008, 04:27 AM I bet they will mess up the cover art, using cast pics from like season 4 or something. They did that with season 2, using a pic of Lara from season 3. They like to mess things up. But as long as we get the DVDs uncut episodes with scene selections and great audio and video, that's all that matters.
I hope they use a bonus episode as well for season 4. My bet is they will use "Baby Of The Family" which was probably one of the most talked about episodes of the entire series.

The "Baby of the Family" episode is also my prediction as a Season 4 bonus episode on the upcoming Season 3 set, as a clip from that episode was shown during the "TV's Top 100 Most Unexpected Moments", aired by TV Land in 2005.

rockchic 09-18-2008, 08:19 AM I Love When Samatha got her first Boyfriend Episode Jeff I think was in the 4 Season. But he was using her and her Family by Bribing them for money, he is the bully in the Kirate kid Movie.:)

I like that episode too. I especially like the scene at the end when Nell tries to give Samantha a "special talk" and orders something to eat at the snack shack on the beach.
Robert 13 09-26-2008, 10:37 AM It's great to see today's news post at tsod.com. I can't wait to buy Season 3 on dvd!!! :happyface
TV_Fan 09-26-2008, 02:08 PM Me too! Let's just hope they're unedited episodes! VEI has a chance to finally do right!
Brieannas21 09-26-2008, 02:37 PM At this point in time I'll even take edited episodes LOL, I just want all of the seasons released already. Lets just hope that it's released sometime in January or Feb.
MusicJunkie 09-26-2008, 06:24 PM yay!! Season 3 is where the show gets great IMO
Wildchats 09-27-2008, 03:19 AM I hope they do season 3 DVDs the way they did season 2. Chapters after every opening credit and commercial break and ending credit. The first season just goes to every opening credit, which is horrible and the only thing different there are subtitles which aren't on season 2, I believe.
Season 3 should have the bonus episode of Baby Of The Family for sure for season 4 preview bonus episode. It's the most talked about one of that season.
For season 4 DVD, if they actually go that far, they should use Joey's Train as the bonus episode for the season 5 preview, and for the season 5 DVD the episode The Apartment or I Love New York for the 6th season promo to show how the show changed in the final season with the move to NY...or even the Christmas In New York for that season would be good for the bonus episode.
MusicJunkie 10-01-2008, 03:47 PM I think Baby Of The Family would be a mistake as a bonus episode. That is the best known episode of that season and would be a major selling point, if they added it to season 3, some people might pass on 4.
An 80s Guy 10-02-2008, 03:49 PM Gosh, I need to catch up!I haven't even gotten season 2 yet.I'll probably order it soon.
TV_Fan 10-02-2008, 06:20 PM The season 1 & 2 bundle is sold out on amazon.ca. Does anyone know if it was ever not sold out? Maybe this is a good sign.
Smartboy 10-02-2008, 10:04 PM I did not even know that they ever went ahead and released the season one and two bundle set! The last that I heard, season two had only ever been released in Canada. Because of how badly I wanted to see Julie in her designer boots, I ended up ordering it from Canada! If anyone reading this has bought the bundle set, please let me know if it comes from the United States or Canada! How does this set compare with the two seasons sold seperately? Are there any bonus features or anything?
TV_Fan 10-02-2008, 10:15 PM It's only available through Canada or amazon.ca. No special fatures, just a cheaper re-issue.
Dwaynew 10-05-2008, 12:33 AM Excellent! It's been worth the wait. I would like to purchase the entire boxed 3-6 seasons, if made available.
Smartboy 10-05-2008, 01:31 AM I am more than willing to agree that "Gimme a Break!" is very much worth waiting for! However, I have not heard anything recently about any plans to release any more seasons on DVD. Does anyone reading this know if this is anywhere in the works?

Yes, VEI will be releasing season 3 sometime in 2009.
Smartboy 10-05-2008, 10:17 PM I am very excited about the news that I just read and I would really like to thank the last poster for sharing it with us!
dpags 11-13-2008, 05:40 PM Wow, this is awesome news! Please let it come to fruition!
Scoobiedoo30 11-13-2008, 05:55 PM I wonder what The Cover Art will look like.
Smartboy 11-13-2008, 09:20 PM Even though my threads are still not getting responses, I am happy to see that the board as a whole is getting some action! Maybe if Season 3 eventually gets released, that will help to stimulate even more conversation. If you look down a few threads, you will come to one by me called "Monica and Pheobe". As of now it has twenty-one views and zero responses. This could be because it had to do with an episode from Season 3 and to most people those episodes are out of site, out of mind! However, if the DVD finely comes out, maybe more people will be refreshed about this and other episodes and will want to tell us what they think!
Smartboy 02-10-2009, 03:12 AM According to VEI. I sent them an email today and surprisingly got a quick reply. I'm not sure if it's a standard reply that other people have gotten but I sure hope they keep their word. Here is my original email to them and their reply....

In the recent past, I have not heard any news about any more seasons of this series being released on DVD. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who knows something that I do not! Also, I do not know of any cable or sattelite networks that show syndicated episodes of this series. Bummer!
Robert 13 02-13-2009, 01:37 PM I thought we would hear an announcement at the beginning of the year. We're now in February and I haven't heard any more news on Season 3 coming to dvd. It is THE prime season of the show, in my opinion. It includes the introduction of Addy and Joey. And contains my FAVORITE episode where Nell & Addy go to New York after winning on Wheel Of Fortune. Really wish it would be released soon. :)

Oh ya the New York episodes (part 1 and 2) are classics
ps At least we dont have "Helen Sherman" in the episodes for you know who to post about it:crazy:

After reading your first sentence, I thought that I was finaly seeing something sensable posted by you! But sure enough, in your second and last sentence, you reverted back to you old ways! Typical and highly predictable!

Yep kinda thought Helen Sherman would make a college degree comment like that:lol:
Smartboy 03-05-2009, 02:39 AM I am bringing this thread to the top just for one reason! I would like to know who besides me is very anxious for more seasons to come to DVD?
Robert 13 03-05-2009, 11:32 AM Definitely me! I want the rest of the series on DVD. I have the series recorded from reruns. But I'd love the complete episodes in DVD quality. Plus, I love Andy Gibb so I'll be so excited to have Season 3 on dvd for the episode where Julie stalks Andy Gibb. He was so cute! :)
UPDATE: I just checked amazon.ca and it seems both the first and second seasons are no longer in stock. I wish VEI would at the very least give some sort of explanation as to what happened with the show on dvd. We've waited a long time and have supported both releases.
Brieannas21 03-05-2009, 07:28 PM It is sad that it takes this long to release GAB on DVD. TV shows that has come out in the 90's and 2000's has their whole box set and every season out and GAB only has 2 seasons out. I'm beginning to think that VEI has no plans on releasing the rest of GAB.
Smartboy 03-05-2009, 11:53 PM Once upon a time, I started a thread called "A Male Nurse". Later I followed it up with one called "Another Male Nurse". Neither one ever generated a response. However, now that it seems that more people frequent this page, I think that discussion of this topic deserves a third chance! The topic at had has to do with the first-season episode knowns as the "Emergency". In this episode, there were supposedly some deleted scenes with a male nurse. I do not know if they needed more time for commercials or they ran out of time altogether or what. All I know is that I am very curious as to what these scenes were all about! I think that, if they made some new DVDs with bonus features, this would be a good thing to include! What do other fans think?
