View Full Version : the 80s or the present? waichingliu81 08-22-2008, 08:42 AM taking into consideration everything- political, social, cultural, personal- if you had the choice to live life in the 1980s or remain in the present day, 00s, which one would you opt for and why? tv star collector 08-22-2008, 08:57 AM Hard to say. In the 1980's, I had a much better job than the one I have now. On the other hand, I didn't have "the love of my life" (my dog). So, would I rather be rich and lonely or poor but happy? I think I'd choose the latter! PunkyP0WER 08-22-2008, 09:00 AM the 80's - the best toys, my most fav. tv shows, actors who i love were still living on this earth, the clothes were cool, the music was awesome, and most of all my mom was alive and happy. definately the 80's for me - the only thing i'd miss would be SOME of the technology of modern day. The biggies being dvd's - I hate rewinding and fast forwarding tapes and the internet to access ebay. Chocoholic 08-22-2008, 11:43 AM The 1980's. Of course, I'd like to be old enough to actually appreciate them :D EmoJoe 08-22-2008, 11:55 AM considering i wasnt alive in the 80s, id have to choose the present. :) Hollow 08-22-2008, 02:16 PM today is ****, but we have internet and certain shows. MonarC 08-22-2008, 02:32 PM Present. Nighthawk76 08-23-2008, 12:24 AM the Present The 1980's were a lot of fun, but since I already experienced the 80's I would know what was going to happen. That would take all the mystery and excitment out of life. Being in the here and now, and not knowing what is around the corner, not knowing what is going to happen is what makes life interesting. Schmoopie 08-23-2008, 02:59 AM I'd say a combination of the two. I never thought about the fact that there was no Internet! Yikes! Andrea Brieannas21 08-23-2008, 03:16 AM I pick the 80's hands down, I had no bills, no worries, I played all day, had wonderful cartoons and regular TV shows to watch, the music was great. I'm not really into my looks so I could care less about clothing styles. I could live without internet and DVD's and CD's had just come then. [-Kelsey-] 08-23-2008, 03:40 AM I lived for 32 days in the 80's... BUT I do love the 80's, the movies, the TV , the music, the video games. Just amazing. I did vote for the 80's but I do like it now because I have a computer and a nice TV.... :D MrRetro_08 08-23-2008, 08:23 AM The 1980s for me, the films, TV Shows and some of the music back then. Dude111 03-07-2026, 06:17 PM Def the 1980s!!!!! Screw the world now and whats its become.... A pile of crap with mean people  stevea 03-07-2026, 06:37 PM The voting was 17 years ago, and I'll agree with them: the 1980s. A couple of examples: Music was from talented musicians, not a computer generated beat or a possibly AI altered voice. We communicated with our friends face to face more than now; now we seem to communicate more by texting. Dude111 03-07-2026, 06:46 PM People were much nicer Stevie!! Race's Girl 03-09-2026, 07:49 AM today is ****, but we have internet and certain shows. I totally agree Dude111 03-09-2026, 10:47 AM we have internet and certain shows.Yes but not like we had them then.... In the 80s we could see them in analogue :) Its just not the same....... stevea 03-09-2026, 01:37 PM Yes but not like we had them then.... In the 80s we could see them in analogue :) Its just not the same....... Nothing is the same. It's not good to be so obsessed about how things were in the past. We all need to be able to adapt to change. Dude111 03-09-2026, 04:57 PM But its worse buddy and its sad how most ppl cant see that :( dakert 03-09-2026, 05:18 PM Present--This is the most exciting time to be alive even though the entertainment (music, movies and tv) pretty much blows. stevea 03-09-2026, 05:26 PM But its worse buddy and its sad how most ppl cant see that :( The world is the world. You can continue to obsess about it and complain about it; it's a free country. You say the M&Ms are bad, the Oreos are bad, Big Mac is bad, HD TV is bad, CDs are bad, countless other things are bad. It would help to try to see something, anything positive. Most people don't want to live their lives seeing everything -- everything -- as bad. If you want to live your life seeing everything as sad and bad, like I said, that's your right. But don't expect others to agree and live a sad, depressing life, complaining about everything. Dude111 03-10-2026, 12:42 AM :( MrCleveland 03-15-2026, 10:10 AM The 1980's of course! Dude111 03-15-2026, 04:46 PM I just picked the 80s on the poll..... (Thank you Todd for opening it (The OP accidently put a time limit on it)) |
