LP does mean record, yeah. I think if you are listening to a CD that was once a record, LP version would probably mean the original album cut of a song that was probably released as an edited single. For example, in 1967 "Light My Fire" by The Doors was released as a single with the long insturmental portion in the middle edited out. That would be called the single version. The song as it appears on the album would be referred to as the album version or LP version.
