Isn't it weird watching a show when you realize the entire cast is already dead, or you find out after becoming a fan of a show that the star/s have died?

I just picked a GREAT looking (and cheap!) 10 disc set of the Courtship of Eddies Father and just realized Bill Bixby, Miyoshi Umeki, and Jame Komack are ALL dead. The only one left is Brandon Cruz.

It's just strange to me to watch shows sometimes and watch these people in their primes probably at the time thinking they too would live forever (as I suppose many think)..

Yea, maybe I think too much, lol, but it's sort of like watching ghosts..

most of the stars that I grew up watching, in the 1950s and 1960s, are all
gone now. To name just a few of my favorites:

James Stewart, Bill Bixby, Judy Garland, Tony Randall, Frank Sinatra, Jack
Benny, Buddy Ebsen, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Montgomery, Steve Allen, Dan Blocker, Perry Como, Fred Gwynne, Dean
Martin, Gene Autry, William Bendix, Edgar Bergen, Gabby Hayes, Don Knotts,
Shari Lewis, Buffalo Bob Smith, Paul Winchell .. and so many, many others.

I feel that every time another favorite dies, a small part of me dies, too.
But, through the magic of celluloid, video tape, and recordings, anyone
famous never really dies ... as long as we remember them. Still, it is sad to
realize that they're gone. But just think of all the great moments they left us.

The only one left is Brandon Cruz.

Kristina Holland is also still alive, She later starred in Wait Till Your Father Get's Home as the voice of Alice Boyle.

I'm but 10 episodes into the show and I don't think she was alive even then, lol. Just a small joke b/c honestly, whenever the show shifts back to the "office" I feel it takes a considerable nose dive.

It feels weird but I'm just thankful that the shows are preserved and available for viewing at anytime via videotape and DVD.

That is weird. Even when I'm watching some Audrey Hepburn movies (like "Roman Holiday"), I'll think about how most of the cast is gone now. It's sad, really. But the wonderful thing about people in entertainment is that their legacy lives on forever. We will always have movies and TV shows of people like Lucille Ball and there are so many great ones that I don't think there will ever be a time when people will get tired of seeing them.

yea, I'm currently watching "BONANZA" on DVD ("THE BEST OF BONANZA-VOLUME 1" containg 8 early episodes with BEUATIFUL audio & video AND they're UNCUT!!!:dance: :dance: ) and it's strange when you realize almost all the Cartwrights are dead-with the exeption of Pernell Roberts.

I don't feel weird about watching shows where most of the cast are gone. I feel lucky to have the dvds to enjoy and to think of happy times in my life brought by these great tv shows.

I think about that a lot when i'm watching I Love Lucy, knowing that all four stars are no longer alive.

I also think that when I watch Three's Company and about John's sudden passing. :( Also with The Ropers and Mr. Furley. :(

But, as cheesy as this is going to sound, watching those shows and appreciating all those actors' and actresses' talents keeps their memory alive!! They will be around for generations to enjoy thanks to the gifts they left us! :)

One of the first things I remember watching in the 70s was the Three Stooges so I got used to that situation early.

What's also strange is when you realize that a more modern show like Cheers started 26 years ago.

I watch home inprovment. did you know that the guy that plays wilson died in real life.? i also like billy bixy. i watch him on the incdabile hulk and my favroti mratian. I also watch i love lucy and the hooney mooner. Jackie Gleason and art is dead. i also watch red foxx in sanford and son.

I get like that (sad) whenever Bonanza is on. I immediately change the channel. This is the only show that I do this to.

Most of the time I feel joy basking in their glow but sometimes when I am really depressed and feeling morbid I get upset, especially when I think that their memory is dying too, then I just get angry at those that allowed it to happen.

I bought from this guy... AMAZING quality!! 9 out of 10 for sure. I was skeptical sure, a LONG time ago my friend bought an X Men animated series set from some over seas company and the quality was AWFUL!! However there was no "feedback" rating in place... it makes a big difference when people are able to SAY what the quality is instead of the company just saying "oh it's an 8 out of 10" when it's really a 3.

$16, $6 shipping for all 3 seasons? Slam dunk. No box or case but a pretty nice sheet that has all the particulars very nicely laid out. Get this!! I'm this person on the feedbacks "From Currently offline krknspock (1)" at first I said an 8 out of 10, but I need to revise it. The first two episodes had some VERY LIGHT haloing here and there but I didn't know it would disappear after the first two eppies. The rest are amazing!

Next I want the Big Valley and Six Million Dollar Man of which I do have seasons 1 and 2 of "legit" but it looks like they are stalled forever.. so what the hell???

That's where I got my Courtship of Eddie's Father from. I figure it will hold me over until the real thing gets released, if they ever get released that is.

I usually feel a brief sense of sadness when watching shows such as I Love Lucy, Bewitched, Bonanza and a few others. The onces that really bring me down are Three's Company, seeing John Ritter so alive, young and handsome. Also, when I watch The Steve Harvey Show, I get sad seeing Merlin Santana who played Romeo. He was murdered months after the show finished its 6th season in 2002. Senseless, and he was only 26. I have to make an attempt to push those out of my mind, John Ritter and Merlin Santana.

It is weird considering that pretty much all of the cast of 'Bewitched' are deceased: Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York, Dick Sargent, David White, Agnes Moorehead, Alice Pearce, Sandra Gould, George Tobias, Alice Ghostley, Marion Lorne, Maurice Evans, Roy Roberts, Robert F. Simon, Mabel Albertson, Paul Lynde, Irene Vernon, Kasey Rogers, etc.

Every once in a while I think about it as I'm watching a show and when I do, it does leaving me feeling kind of sad.

Probably the worst thing about getting into a show/actor after the actor has died is the simple fact that you can't write to that star and tell them how much you appreciate him/her. That just happened to me with a particular movie, actually, and I feel a little "ripped off", but that's just the way it goes. :(

I used to with Sanford and Son but not much anymore

I get a little heartbroken when I watch "8 Simple Rules" episodes that John Ritter is in, but mainly it's hard for me to watch episodes of "Monk" knowing that Stanley Kammel is gone. He was my favorite actor on that show... and a very nice man!:(
