I am wondering if anyone knows the best way to try to find a good counselor/therapist. Things have gotten very stressful and hard for me. Anyone know of any online support groups or a way to find out of one that would be in my area that I could go and attend? I think that plus individual counseling would be both helpful. My mother was very upset with me Friday evening. She said I need to get some help to deal with the traumas I have suffered both as a child and as an adult. She said some things that I won't go into that hurt. She mentioned that my progblem is not getting better, it's getting worse. I'm having nightmares again. :( Having symptoms of PTSD (Post Trauma Stress Disorder) is hard. My insurance doesn't cover counseling as far as I know. I will have to do research and in recent years benefits have been cut drastically due to some people who fraudulently use the system. It makes those who need the system for legitimate reasons suffer. I'm not crazy, I've just been through a lot in my life.
Thanks.

Well Jenny, first off I think an online support group is probably not the direction to go in. I think that it would be best for you to see someone in person. Participating in group threapy with people who have also gone through tramatic events could also provide some comfort. I think you should talk your doctor and see if he/she can suggest a good therapist to see. Also, as I've said before, getting out of your house on a more regular basis will be good for you too. I think being stuck in the house all day would make all of us depressed. I think having a job will help build up your confidence level. I think you just need to sit down and tell your mother that she will need to find someone else to watch your sister. Good luck. :bighug:

Well, since I don't have any insurance, I went to the county hospital and they hooked me up. Granted, I think my psychiatrist is a jerk and not at all helpful, but I see him just 3x a year so I can get meds. My therapist is much nicer. Does your county have a hospital/clinic for people who don't have any insurance or not enough that has a psych dept?
