View Full Version : So how many Cosby show fans are going to pay $94 for season 1 UNCUT?
TVFactFan 08-17-2008, 01:58 PM The only way I can see myself doing it is if I was to hit the lottery for $500 but without any unexpected money coming in I just don't see myself ever watching UNCUT eps of season 1.
Anyone else besides me who paid for all the individual seasons feel like a FOOL right now?
Pavan 08-17-2008, 02:56 PM Unlike the Sony complete series sets, this set will have NEW extras even, in addition to the extras already from the season sets. So it is just not season one having unedited episodes...it is more than that (plus First Look Studios could release a re-release of Season 1 unedited on its own, but no plans yet). This is one complete series set worth the buy.

Well I would really like to see what extras could make me pay $94 for the one season I have yet to see. And a Interview with Bill Cosby is a SAD EXTRA
I think I will be purchasing the set, and I have all 8 seasons on DVD. The only reason I am is because I've only opened two sets (seasons 2 and 3), and I have friends and family who love the show and I can give the remainders to them for Christmas or sell them since they are unopened.
Besides, I paid between $12 and $15 for 6 of the sets, and I got seasons 7 and 8 for just ten bucks each. I hate the cover art for all of them, including the complete series set.
A review of the show mentioned how, in watching the show as its aged, that most of Cliff's "wisdom" can now be interpreted as pomposity, and I cannot agree more with that comment.

A list of special features is posted here: http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Cosby-25th-Anniversary-Commecmorative-Edition/10305
The special features seem pretty substantial to me. My only problem is that I have a HDTV and Blu-ray player and standard DVD looks terrible on it, depending on the compression.

I never paid a $100 for a DVD set so I think it would have to be some powerful extras for me to do it. Especially since I just bought 7 and 8 two months ago

I'm confused by the season 1 statement. That there are no plans to release as a single DVD at this time but maybe in the future. So I;m wondering if they are saying that they stilll haven't got around to releasing the uncut eps of season 1 since they want to focus on releasing series set first so they can have it out by holiday time.
You know how advertising can be so i guess it would be confirmed iof season 1 is uncut once sitcoms online review staff reviews the set.
I ended up doing the same for "I Love Lucy". I purchased the entire series, but then they released the complete series set and I ended up buying it as well. The initial seasons that I bought are still wrapped :) I buy my favorites on DVD, but rarely do I have time to watch them.
I was able to get the complete Lucy set for $60 at Barnes & Noble online last year, so that was a great deal!

I hope that when they release the series set in November that they drop Cosby and move on A Different World. I wish they'd release a complete series set for that one as well...

I just wish I had seen this day coming 3 years ago

Maybe it wasn't coming three years ago. Consistent sales probably led to this release [including your purchases].
Kind of off topic, but I despise the menus on these sets. I hate having to use the choose episode option.

The eps opttion never bothered me because I like to watch the eps in airplay order.

That's never been me. If I dislike an episode, I dislike it and would never sit through it wasting time when I know I don't like it.

Even with the eps I don' like that much, I still watching to see the scenes i never saw before. I mean to me eps on a DVD is all about new discoveries
Ron Ron 08-17-2008, 05:16 PM I am one who has all 8 seasons even season 1 which is edited. I bought the season not knowing it was edited. Whether I am going to buy the complete series...well thats up in the air right now. i sure would love to get the Season 1 unedited version. I could easily sell off my 8 seasons and from that money get the whole collection.
As for I Love Lucy...I have season 1, 2 and 5. I still want 4 and 6. I had considered buying the whole collection but didnt have the money at the time for it. It's pretty costly too at over 120 dollars.
Jman4200 08-17-2008, 10:43 PM Im going to purchase the set, and I will just give my mother the individual seasons since she doesn't have any of them.
bluthree 08-20-2008, 09:01 AM I only have season 2-4 so I will purchase the complete box set.I already have my order in at Amazon. Also by the time we get close to release date I will take a bunch of coins down to the supermarket and dump them into a Coin Star Machine and purchase an Amazon Gift Certificate and use that for The Cosby Show so I dont have to use a credit card.
I did the same thing when The Andy Griffith Show box set came out. Yeah I paid over a $100 just to get The Return To Mayberry Movie-Nice!
Deep Discount currently has the set priced at $86.09. They usually have a 20% off sale in November (around the time this title will be released) and that would bring the price down to $69. That's probably about as good as its going to get.
I was definitely thinking about buying the individual season sets of "The Cosby Show" myself, but when I heard that the COMPLETE series was going to be on DVD, I said "to heck with the season sets, give me the whole enchilada (so to speak)". I'm saving up money to buy the complete series set now, so i think it will be a great investment. Plus, it's a LOT cheaper than having to pay $16-20 or $30 dollars for a season. Hopefully come Christmas, I'll be laughing it up with the 8 seasons of the Cosby Show in one.

Better wait and make sure season 1 is unedited first and read the review
Schmoopie 09-04-2008, 10:27 PM Yeah, they did this with Seinfeld as well. I kind of like having the seasons individual, but I am curious to see what kind of extras are on the BIG set!
