Mike Myers has been cast as British Gen. Ed Fenech, a military mastermind who helps hatch a plot to kill Nazi leaders, in director Quentin Tarantino's WWII drama Inglorious Bastards. Brad Pitt stars in the movie as Lt. Aldo Raine, the leader of a band of Jewish-American soldiers dropped into German-occupied France on a singular mission to kill as many Nazis as they can. Eli Roth is also on board, and Tarantino is said to be courting Simon Pegg, Nastassja Kinski, David Krumholtz, and B.J. Novak for roles as well. Shooting is scheduled to start on Oct. 13 and wrap in time for Cannes 2009. (Variety)

This seems to be a new trend with actors these days. I won't say that he will or won't be good in this, but people don't take actors seriously that have only done comedy. Same goes for people who have done drama to suddenly switch to comedy, although I think that's a little easier to watch.

I think you make a good point Andrea. I see Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey doing a drama and I wince. I just can't picture them as dramatic actors.

I did like Jim Carey in "The Majestic" but I hated Adam Sandler in "Punch Drunk Love". I can take Adam Sandler's silliness in his movies but Jim Carey is a completely different story....
