I have seasons 1-7 and I'm wondering which episode had Harriet needing an operation for her appendix and she was dead set against until she was talked into it, she almost died.

Sorry, don't know what the episode is called, but it is the one where Red Skelton comes to town with his sideshow wagon, his "Kongorilla", and his "magic powders". At first O'Hara(Skelton) gives Harriet his powders, but then Doc Baker tells Charles to make him tell her they are fake and to have the operation. O'Hara finally gets Harriet to have the operation by telling her that the Queen of England(or somewhere) had the same operation and she would have the same prestigious scar.
Hope that helps you remember which one it is.

Hi Comeyfreak & Sterling. Yes I remember this one - just saw it a few weeks ago. It's from Season 1 & here's a summary I found on it:

19. Circus Man

review
First aired: 1/29/1975 Production Code: 1018

The Ingalls receive a midnight visit from Will O'Hara, a traveling circusman who, with his irresistably charming demeanor, persuades Charles to let him set up in front of their home. Whether he's pulling eggs out of people's ears or proudly toting around his congrilla, O'Hara's tricks are all in good fun--until he introduces a slew of "magic powders" that supposedly heal a variety of illnesses. When O'Hara's little theory nearly costs an appendicitis-stricken Mrs. Oleson her life, Charles asks him to leave town--only to track him down again in the wake of a family crisis.
Writer: Ward Hawkins, Preston Wood, Ward Hawkins
Director: Michael Landon
Guest star: Red Buttons (O'Hara)

What's so odd is that on my DVD sets they don't list the guest stars so I had an inkling it was Red Buttons but wasn't sure. I know Forest Tucker was the crackerjack logger in Founder's Day from Season #1.

BTW, do you have a lot of the series?

Me? No, I have a few episodes on video that I taped years ago, but mainly I have just watched the show wherever it shows up on tv. Of course, right now I am watching it on Hallmark.
I can't remember when it hasn't been on tv somewhere. And that's a good thing.:)

Yes, I'm very fond of the show too (obviously!). I only had about 10 eps until I got a free membership to a buyer's club with outlets right accross the river. So I went there and they had all the LHOP series for $19 a season - which was an amazing price since the cheapest I saw it anywhere else was $38 a season. So I figured it was a sign and bought the entire series. And am having A BLAST watching it!!!
