View Full Version : A Thread For the Women: Do you Like Guys With Beards?
Nighthawk76 08-15-2008, 01:11 AM This is a question for the women here. Do you think a guy looks good with a beard, yes or not?
Here's a picture of Barry Gibb circa 1979 looking all suave with a beard.
Nighthawk76 08-15-2008, 01:21 AM No. I like guys that are clean shaven. I think a beard makes a guy look very ugly. Even Dean Cain and Hugh Grant can't pull off having beards, and they are really good looking (clean shaven). A beard is a major turn off.
So I could not pull of having a beard?
catlover79 08-15-2008, 01:27 AM Depends on the guy. Some can pull it off, some can't.
Nighthawk76 08-15-2008, 01:30 AM I can't think of anyone who could. I also think gotees make guys look unattractive.
Okay, there is a reason I started this thread. Last April I went a week and a half without shaving. Therefor, I ended up with a beard. Hair has a way of growing like that. When I was at work, there were people working in other departments who would see me and say, "Hello, Professor". They actually thought I was a professor. Also, most of the history professors I had did infact have beards. So I thought if I wanted to someday be a history professor, I should probably look the part. Anyway, I kept the beard. Last week, I was thinking of shaving it off, but while watching the Family Ties DVD and seeing how dignified Mr. Keaton looked with a beard, I decided to keep it.
catlover79 08-15-2008, 01:32 AM ^ Are you also going to start carrying a pipe with you and wearing jackets with the patched sleeves? Just kidding.
Nighthawk76 08-15-2008, 01:34 AM ^ Are you also going to start carrying a pipe with you and wearing jackets with the patched sleeves? Just kidding.
No, but when I am a professor I'm going to wear a suit everyday. One of my history professors, Mr. Harkins (I had him for four courses in the past and a fifth this fall), a man I really admire, wears a suit everyday.
Nighthawk76 08-15-2008, 01:47 AM You would never see Alex Keaton with a beard. I remember the episode where he tried to grow a mustache and no one believed that it was a mustache, lol.
No, I can't see Alex with a beard.
Nighthawk76 08-15-2008, 01:48 AM Depends on the guy. Some can pull it off, some can't.
Could Gregory Sierra pull it off? ;)
Jo_Luvs_Ketchup 08-15-2008, 02:31 AM Well, my first bf Andy, had facial hair. It drove me crazy. I'd have to go into my bathroom after we'd kiss to make sure I didn't get scratched lol. But now my recent ex, we were a on/off status for a while. When I first met him, cleanly shaven. Then he comes over one day with that..ummm..goatee (sp) and wow! The difference. He looked better with the facial and I his didnt hurt my face so much.
Hollow 08-15-2008, 04:29 AM i prefer clean-shaven. kind of feels nice on the face while kissing.
PZelda 08-15-2008, 05:15 AM Well, I'm somewhere in the middle. I like my guys to have face stubble. Not clean-shaven, but not a full-grown beard. Just stubbly, like House.
All the guys I've been intimate with have had some degree of stubble on their faces. Trufax. Lol.
waichingliu81 08-15-2008, 06:16 AM no- i prefer guys who are clean shaven- i think they look better that way. i don't mind a bit of stubble but otherwise definitely not
ponytail 08-15-2008, 06:30 AM I don't like goatee's but I don't mind a well kept groomed beard.
catlover79 08-15-2008, 11:37 AM Could Gregory Sierra pull it off? ;)
He's one of the few guys who looked good both with facial hair and clean-shaven. :eyes:
Number 9 Dream 08-15-2008, 01:47 PM Nope, I definitely like guys who are clean shaven...beards just aren't attractive to me.
BarneyFife 08-15-2008, 02:47 PM I like my ladies clean shaven. Just sayin.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 08-15-2008, 03:38 PM Noooo. Not a fan of facial hair, this one.
Depends on the beard, I like a neatly groomed short haired beard, don't care for the long ZZ Top beard.
dawsongirl 08-15-2008, 10:35 PM I don't exactly like full beards. Ick. A short goatee is okay on some men, but others need to stay hair-free.
catlover79 08-15-2008, 10:40 PM Like Ann was saying, this is not the look we ladies go for:
LuLu Rogers 08-16-2008, 01:29 AM I prefer clean shaven guys. I'm not into guys who are hairy, LOL
Wayne Rogers tried the stuble thing once, yikes!

dawsongirl 08-16-2008, 02:07 AM That doesn't even look like Wayne!
LuLu Rogers 08-16-2008, 02:17 AM That doesn't even look like Wayne!
The pic with the stuble? Yeah, he looked a lot different.
dawsongirl 08-16-2008, 02:47 AM The pic with the stuble? Yeah, he looked a lot different.
Yep, that one. What was that from?
LuLu Rogers 08-16-2008, 02:58 AM Yep, that one. What was that from?
A movie called The Goodbye Bird, made in 1993.
PZelda 08-16-2008, 04:00 AM All I'm goin' to say is - MMMMMMM stubble. :D
No beards. Clean-shaven or stubble, plz. It doesn't even bug me if I kiss a guy with stubble. I think it's hot. :)
Nighthawk76 08-17-2008, 11:40 PM Like Ann was saying, this is not the look we ladies go for:
How did you ever get a hold of my work ID picture? ;)
PunkyP0WER 08-18-2008, 11:15 AM i'm on the fence with this one. i generally like the clean shaven baby face look but i don't mind a goatee (on some men). i'm not into full grown beards though especially long zz top/santa claus types, it makes me think things are living in them. yuck!
Nighthawk76 08-18-2008, 01:06 PM Maybe I should post a picture of myself with my new look.
Nighthawk76 08-19-2008, 12:02 AM That's just nasty! That guy needs a weedwacker.
A weekwacker, that's a good one.
catlover79 08-19-2008, 12:06 AM That's just nasty! That guy needs a weedwacker.
Forget a weedwacker - he needs a lawn mower!!!!
Nighthawk76 08-19-2008, 12:10 AM I think I'd better not post a picture after all.
Dude111 05-23-2026, 01:36 AM Depends on the guy. Some can pull it off, some can't.
Ya most cannot.. I do not like beards or any facial hair to be honest!!
icecream 05-23-2026, 01:46 AM Men were meant to grow beards. I'm pretty sure Jesus had one.
Bonniegirl 05-23-2026, 02:59 AM Men were meant to grow beards. I'm pretty sure Jesus had one.
Yes. :) I like beards as long as they aren't as long as a ZZTop beard. But it also depends on the man. Some look good with facial hair, some look better clean shaven . ;)
Bonniegirl 05-23-2026, 03:01 AM And Santa Claus. I cannot imagine him without a beard!!:D
biffbronson 05-23-2026, 04:47 AM I've had a beard at times, it's received positive responses from my ladyfriends.
I remember the comment "give it a chance" while it was starting once. Another time I hadn't seen my friend from Kentucky in a long while; she knew me as only clean-shaven, and right away when she saw me with facial hair she said "I like that!"
I have a lot of grey now though, so I don't know how well that would go over, unless the lady is looking for a "father figure" - !
Dude111 05-24-2026, 11:54 PM Men were meant to grow beards. I'm pretty sure Jesus had one.
