I did, back in the early 90s, when my nephew was incarcerated. I went a few times with my Mother on Saturday afternoons. Naturally, it was a very depressing experience. Degrading as well, the way the guards searched us. Sitting in that big room with all the other inmates and visitors was sad. This was a minimum security prison, all small time criminals.

I know people have to pay for their crimes, but it's still sad to watch a father kiss his wife and children good-bye. I bought a lot of stuff from the vending machine, and I tried to act cheerful for my nephew, but it was difficult. I felt bad for my Mother, as this was her grandson. :(

No, but i've had people visit me. Just kidding. I've never stepped one foot in a prison or jail.

I have personally not visited anyone in jail, but back in Missouri my Dad did
some bible studying with a jail inmate named Jason Shipman. He and a friend
had kidnapped a young woman from Lindenwood University in Saint Charles
and had raped her and killed her and then decapitated her and left her head
near the university campus where police discovered it. Jason received a
sentence of life without parole and his friend got life with the possibility of
parole. Jason was eventually baptized by dad in jail shortly before he got
sent to the state prison in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Not yet but depending on the circumstances, I would. Sometimes basically good people can end up in jail but just need help. Like someone who has a drug problem who bought something from an undercover cop. I'm sure the first time I did it it might be a little unnerving, but 90% of what you need to do in life is just showing up, despite how you feel.

Thankfully I never have, and hopefully I never will. I did visit someone in a mental hospital though. That in itself, was no picnic.

The only time I remember setting foot in a jail was when my dad was a lawyer and he took my mom and I with him when he went to counsel with someone. We waited in the main area, so we didn't actually see the person. And this was so long ago, that I may not even be telling it correctly! This had to have been back in the 70's!

Never visited anyone in prison, but I have visited a couple of people in jail. You feel really sad after you leave them.

Not anyone that I knew personally, but I toured a prison with a group last year during school. It's really scary, actually. But (most) of the people are really nice. This guy I talked to who worked in the kitchen told me that he carjacked someone on his way through our town about 5 years ago. He didn't even live here! He told me that he was sorry for what he had done and he told me some advice that DARE failed to give me:

"You see Lindsay, Britney doing stupid **** all the time. Don't do drugs. They'll **** you up, kid."

He was really a nice guy. I hope everything goes well for him in the future.
