Full House star Dave Coulier is finally speaking out about inspiring Alanis Morissette's bitter, break-out hit "You Oughta Know."

The comedian told the Calgary Herald that he dated the much-younger singer-songwriter – but that he had no idea she planned to take their breakup public.

When he first heard the song, "I said, 'Wow, this girl is angry,' " he recalled. "And then I said, 'Oh man, I think it's Alanis.' ... I listened to the song over and over again, and I said, 'I think I have really hurt this person.' "

But there's no lasting animosity, he said – adding that the exes even decided to meet up once.

"We saw each other and hung out for an entire day," he said. "And it was beautiful. It was one of those things where it was kind of like, 'We're good.' "

Still one of my favorite Alanis songs!!!

I wonder if "Hands Clean" from Under Rug Swept was also about him?

I vaguely remember hearing about this! I just can't picture the two of them as a couple! I like that song, but I can't understand half the words she says!

DANNY, JOEY, JESSE, DJ, STEPH, AND MICHELE ARE HAVING DINNER. THE TELEPHONE RINGS.

DJ - I'll get it. It's probably for me since I'm the oldest girl and I'm popular because I like boys and shopping.

DJ PICKS UP THE PHONE.

DJ - Hello? Um, hold on a minute, I'll see if he's Home. Joey? It's for you, some girl named Alana?

JOEY - Alanis?

DJ - Yeah, that's it.

JOEY- Never heard of her.

AUDIENCE LAUGHS LIKE FREAKING CRAZY.

JESSE - Alanis? Who's Alanis?

STEPH - She's the long haired scary girl who followed us home from the park yesterday. She was screaming something about what she did to Uncle Joey in a movie theater...

JOEY - I've never heard of her! Who wants more corn?

JESSE - Wait, I'm the only one in this house who's supposed to be getting some. You trying to steal my bit?

DANNY - Calm down Jesse. DJ, just take a message.

DJ (into phone) - I'm sorry, he's not here now, can I take a message? Okay, Bye. (hangs up) She said she'll call back later. She didn't mean to bug Joey in the middle of dinner.

JOEY - Whew, that was close. Now, who wants to hear my impression of a cartoon character none of you kids have ever heard of?

MICHELLE - You got it dude!
