I'm very excited about this! I wasn't sure if CBS would put out a DVD, but they did, so no more worrying! It's supposed to come out on December 16, just in time for the holidays! Like other CBS DVD's, the SRP is $40.99, discounted of course. I hope we get tons of bonus features - I heard that they were recording some commentary, so hopefully we'll see those included, with all the original music (which I'm not sure about with CBS).

Wow, already?
I know - the show's still got 3 episodes to air, and I was afraid we wouldn't see a release at all!
You'd think the original music would be on it since it looks like CBS is cross promoting Swingtown with the music cds from the 70s during the show.

Yeah, so CBS should be getting a pretty fair deal on music rights. Not only that, but CBS should already have the rights - they are the ones airing the show AND putting out the DVD. Since this is the case, how hard could it be to include the original music?
The past few weeks I've noticed that even with the condensed time of the episodes(its been like 57 minutes with commercials) and Numb3rs ending late CBS still had time to put in the mini-infomercial with Peter Fonda pushing the sounds of the 70s on CD.

I don't understand why CBS has been starting the episodes at like 5 minutes past 10:00. I'd say because they want Number's ratings at 9pm to spill into Swingtown's ratings at 10pm, but if that's the case, why are they starting Numbers 5 minutes past 9pm as well?

Thought I'd update this thread!
The set will be 4 discs with all 13 episodes from the first season. Video will be widescreen, and audio will be 5.1 Surround Sound. Extras as of now include "Audio Commentaries and Featurettes about the music, clothes, and sets."
You can go to TVShowsonDVD.com for a look at the early cover art. I don't like it that much - I hate the white logo and the photo. They need to add the green logo that's associated with the show, and maybe a better cast pic (although Trina is looking gorgeous in the one they have).
^ Thanks for the update! Can't wait to check it out!

Final cover art has been released, which you can see at this link:

I really love it - I've been staring at it for 5 minutes straight-LOL. It really fits the tone of the show, IMO - not all about swinging, but more about relationships and living in the 70's. And better yet, the cover art doesn't have the clear edges around it, meaning it'll be an actual "Box Set" and not one of the amaray cases they've been using lately.
I'm very impressed - CBS is obviously going all out for this set. I just hope all the music is intact!
