View Full Version : Tallest Women Ever is now gone MrCleveland 08-13-2008, 10:08 PM Sandy Allen who was 7' 7" has passed on at the age of 53. She was recorded in the Guiness Book of World Records. Stormtracker TF 08-13-2008, 10:42 PM :( Wow. Still young. :rip: Adamantium 08-13-2008, 11:26 PM I had the pleasure of meeting her back in (I'm thinking) 1995 at the Guiness Book of World Records Museum in Tennessee. She was very nice and I'm sorry to hear of her passing. And so young. I wasn't aware that she was only 53. May she rest in peace. Courtnee 08-14-2008, 12:13 AM Do you think she has to have a special coffin? Assuming she's being buried. LuLu Rogers 08-14-2008, 12:24 AM She seemed like such a sweet lady, really fun to be around. RIP Sandy :rip: http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2008-08/41599731.jpg treky 08-14-2008, 02:34 AM I saw her once, on a special on TLC about 10 or 11 years ago. Like Lauren said, she seemed really nice. Chocoholic 08-14-2008, 10:04 AM How sad. I remember reading about her somewhere. RIP Sandy. :( Schmoopie 08-24-2008, 06:11 AM My husband said that sometimes these people who are unusually tall don't live as long as others because their height is sometimes caused by a health problem. That's sad. I had never seen a picture of her, so thanks for posting it. She did look like Julia Child and at first glance she looked a little like Lucille Ball too. Andrea TripperFan 08-24-2008, 11:27 AM Your husband is right. These were caused by a tumour on the pituatory (sorry for the bad spelling) gland. It's rare now to see anyone with this condition (only usually in third world countries now) because they're able to do surgery to remove the tumours. I did see a Medical Mysteries show just last Thursday though and there's a 12 yr old in the States right now who is over 7 feet tall but his condition is caused by something else (as a matter of fact, they feel he's the only one in the world with this condition) and they're giving him testosterone to stop his growth. Furienna 08-25-2008, 06:22 PM Yeah, I read about her. RIP :( Wreckless 08-25-2008, 06:29 PM Damn, R.I.P. |
