Hi everyone, thought I might start posting around here. Here's a question I'm curious about: what do you think is the best season? In other words, which season features the best characters and best writing, given that the performances are pretty consistent from season to season?

My favorite season is Season 1. My favorite episode is in Season 3.

I don't think they really hit their stride until Season 3. Then in Season 4 there was the addition of Tracy Pollan/Ellen Reed, which just made a good thing better (just ask Michael J. Fox ;)).

I like that the best Season is probably Season 5. Cause they had some really great writing in that season and some really great episodes.

I'd say 4 because of Ellen and Nick. Plus some really good side-stories.

I agree that the show started getting good w/ season 3, which is why I started buying the DVDs at season 3. But, I think seasons 4 & 5 were the best that I can recall...then again, I haven't seen the show in yrs (except for season 3 this past weekend).

I find that the very last season or two of most/any show isn't as good because the writers are thinking of what storyline they could do that hasn't already been done yet, so the show isn't quite as great anymore before it finally comes to an end.
