I'm watching the 1995 Cowboys and I saw he was the coach to 97 and at the time I was in college and didn't follow sports news. What happened?

The Cowboys basically collapsed in 1997. They finished with a 6-10 record and he lost control of the team. I think Aikman and Switzer never really got along either. Looking back The Cowboys might have been better if they would have stayed with him instead of hiring Chan Gailey who was really just a puppet for Jerry. Even though The Cowboys made the playoffs twice with him as coach, you could just tell that the team was in decline.

I never thought Switzer was that good, as a coach.. hell, I could have coached that team and won a super bowl with all the talent they had at the time.

I'm still mad over that 1994 NFC Championship game. We gave the 49ers a 21 point lead in the first few minutes of the first quarter and then outplayed them for the rest of the game but we couldn't overcome those earlier mistakes. That '94 team was better than the '95 one that won the SB. I think if JJ was still there the Cowboys would have won 3 straight titles. I guess at least BS did redeem himself the next year but he was no JJ.

I went to bed at halftime. lol And I didn't enjoy the '95 SB either. After the Cowboys got ahead early the Steelers really outplayed them the rest of the day. If it wasn't for Larry Brown I think we would have lost. Then afterward all I heard was how the Steelers blew the game not how the Cowboys had won their 3rd title in 4 years. I definately enjoyed the Buffalo SB's better. lol

It was a case of Jerry Jones wanting to have a "name" as head coach while also making sure that said head coach wouldn't get more attention then Jones did. Switzer wasn't the best choice, but turned out to be the only one who would take the job.

Switzer wasn't the only one who would take the job. Jerry wanted him as head coach right from the beginning. Jerry even brought his name up while Jimmy was still coaching the team. As for the rest of your coments, it's great having a Cowboys expert on the boards. :lol:
