I noticed in Philadelphia that for some strange reason when a pedestrian has the right of way, once they start crossing the street it seems like they are taking their TIME on purpose while a car is sitting there trying to make a TURN-lol I thought people knew to have a little pep in their step when they know someone is trying to make a turn.

Does that go on anywhere else? So damm annoying.

They do that in MA too. They'll also cross the street or parking lot without even looking, causing the driver to have to slam on the brakes. And if one of these morons is hit, you can bet they'll be suing the driver

That's why I never understood how a GROWN PERSON can get hit by a car. As an adult, i thought that you are watching everything that is going on in the street which is letting you know when you can cross and if you can't cross. So I just don;t see a how a SOBER ADULT can get hit by a car. Before I enter the street I watch everything because thats' what you have to do

Yes, they do that up here too. About 4 or 5 years ago, I was driving down the street doing about 30-35 mph. I see a group of girls crossing at a non-intersection taking their time. As I approached them, I beeped my horn letting them know to get across that street. Then one of them just looked at me while she was crossing, and her body language was saying, "I dare you to hit me!" It's attitudes like that that really causes accidents and conflicts. Next time, I won't take any of that sh*it from a pedestrian who didn't have the right of way anyway crossing the street.

I know what you mean. In California, which tends to have considerate drivers and pedestrians, it does happen. And when it does happen, I hate it. I mean, you (as the driver) are polite enough to let the people cross; then, not only do they not give you even a perfunctory "thank-you" wave (as George says on Seinfeld), they take their sweet time--often on purpose--like you owe them a living. P***** me off.

Yep. They do that here too. Probably about 50% of the time and mostly by teenagers.

I think they don't acknowledge the drivers because they're so traumatized that they're just thankful they made it across alive. I know that's how it is at least where I live. Just today i saw someone almost get ran over by a speeding suv.

Yes, people do that all the time in Milwaukee. It's so annoying. It bothers me when people cross where they're not evening supposed to be crossing. I'm driving my car and suddenly someone walking across in front of you. OK, it would be fine if they moved faster, but then they're walking SO FREAKIN' SLOWLY!! Then I'M the one who has to slow down. I swear one day I'm not going to slow down. That'll show them. Of course I can't because then they'll sue. Whenever I cross the road (if I can't get near a crosswalk) I run or go really fast across. There's a lot of crazy drivers out there and you never know when someone could be going way over the speed limit (or worst, drunk) and you'll get hit.

Same here, Solomon. Pedestrians act like they own the streets here. My husband wants to run them down. Off topic, but....Once, we were at a red light, and a guy was crossing the street in front of us. He wasn't doing anything wrong, but he was wearing a real goofball hat. My husband was driving, and he said, "I should run him over just for wearing that hat."

Yes we have those idiots here in Nashville as well, and like GARFIELDKOOL said, they dare you to hit them.

What bothers me is the cluck that walks diagonaly across the street. Bad enought they stroll out to cross but to take so long to cross while I wait drives me nuts.

It's actually very easy to get hit cause of those damn morons who think they own the freaking road. I personally have to walk everywhere I go, I don't have a car, and there's been many a times I've gone through a crosswalk having the right of way and some stupid idiot started to go just because he/she had a cellphone in their ear or something.

I mean hello pay attention, it's a crossWALK for a reason.

I try to hurry through a crosswalk, but there are people who barely give you time to get started walking before they're trying to go

I was thinking the same thing the other day. When you pull into my school's campus, you have to drive past the senior parking lot to get to your parking place and they always take their sweet time walking by. Sometimes they decide at the last minute that they want to cross the parking lot, so you have to slam on your brakes a lot.
