View Full Version : These DVD Series Sets are nothing but scams
TVFactFan 08-04-2008, 03:03 PM Received a email today from tvshowsondvd.com about sanford and son and I thought it was about the spinoffs and it was about the new series set coming out with all six seasons in one set
same thing with the cosby show, another set that was released, nothing but a RE-RELEASE of the Same SH*T-lol
I hate this so much
Jude The Obscure 08-04-2008, 03:12 PM These sets are really a slap in the face to all the fans who bought individual season sets.

A slap in the face and a knee to the stomach-lol
robyrob 08-04-2008, 05:19 PM they should start doing something where you can send in the proof of purchases from the season sets so you can get the bonus disk(s)/ series set packaging for a nominal fee plus shipping.
build some customer loyalty instead of continually crapping on them.
JulieSomoski 08-04-2008, 06:12 PM Yeah, I hate complete series sets. I hate it even more if they contain new bonus material. For The Cosby Show set, there is actually a new interview with Bill Cosby included, and you can just tell they were saving that interview just for this set. I don't understand why they couldn't have included it in the season 8 set instead.
The Sony sets are the same thing, although they are muc hmore affordable. Like with the NewsRadio complete series set, it only costs $59.95 SRP - all 4 season sets combined would cost about $160 SRP, both discounted, of course. That's a huge savings, with all the original episodes and bonus material from the season sets included. The only downfall is the horrible packaging they give us. I"m still deciding if I want it or not.
Benny JR 08-04-2008, 06:54 PM Wasn't something like this done with "The Brady Bunch"? They released all Five Season's separately, then released the whole series, plus some new material.

Yeah, they did it with The Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy and The Andy Griffith Show to name a few. But the Sony sets are just repackaged discs...nothing new.
JulieSomoski 08-05-2008, 07:47 PM The Cosby Show complete series set supposedly includes "every episode uncut", which means they're fixing the season 1 edits and are packaging them in with the series set instead of its own set. It also includes a new Bill Cosby interview, the pilot script, photo gallery, discography, and more.
That really makes me angry, because as a loyal fan, I went out and bought all 8 seasons, and now they do this, and it pisses me off. I could care less about the extra bonus stuff - what I do want is the unedited episodes of season 1. Wouldn't it be muych more logical to put those episode in their own set? There is no way I'm spending $130 on a complete series set when I own all 8 seasons already.

It appears like it's going to be uncut. I'm not really surprised. The studios don't care about the fans that buy all these season sets. All they care about is money .

Casey and Werner can kiss my A$$
JulieSomoski 08-06-2008, 12:35 PM Of course, they spend their money to get unedited prints just for the complete series set. If they were smart, they'd make an individual "Unedited Season 1" set, but I doubt they'd be that smart.
Corizzle 08-06-2008, 01:30 PM This should be nothing new, if there is a show you guys really like then just don't buy the individual seasons. I only bought Veronica Mars Season 1 but not S2 and S3 in hopes of a Complete Series release down the line.

They should put UNCUT on the every seasons they put out on DVD.

Usually when you see COMPLETE SEASON on a DVD cover that means it's UNCUT

Not always. Remember the first season's worth of "Roseanne" from Anchor Bay? All of the component episodes were syndicated cuts, and a lot of people, upon purchase of this release, cried foul about that. They said something to the effect that it was called "The Complete First Season," and they expected complete episodes as advertised, not syndicated cuts. The same thing happened with the first season's worth of "Mama's Family", from Warner Bros., which was also called "complete." All of the episodes were syndicated cuts on that too. Generally, based on what I've read here, television disc purchasers have not taken kindly to syndicated cuts in the releases that they have purchased. They want it the way it really was back then, not the way that a DVD releaser wants to present it. The way that we remember the series is oftentimes a lot different from how a lot of DVD companies present the series, what with syndication cuts, music replacement, and other bad things.

Well I can see them saying that it was complete because all 24 eps are on the Discs from that particular season-lol
