View Full Version : WGN Bozo Show Bumper?
EighteenMinutes 08-02-2008, 11:45 PM Anyone know where I might find a copy of the bumpers WGN used for the Bozo Show back in the 80's: "Kids in Chicago...having a good time...they're all watching...Channel 9!"
Maybe some episodes from that era?

Scoobiedoo30 08-03-2008, 01:02 AM what do yall mean Bozo Show Bumper?
MikeLutton 08-03-2008, 02:49 AM this makes no sense what so ever
Schmoopie 08-03-2008, 03:51 AM Maybe they are referring to bumper stickers? Actually, they might mean promos...

A commercial bumper is "a brief announcement, usually two to 15 seconds, placed between a pause in the program and its commercial break" (and vice versa). (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commercial_bumper)
During morning kids programs back in the 80's, WGN would use a bumper with the jingle: "Kids in Chicago...having a good time...they're all watching...Channel 9!"
In particular, I remember seeing this bumper repeatedly while we watched the Bozo Show.

No. More like a quick commercial/station ID. Sometimes they use a jingle. Sometimes it's just a graphic with a voiceover that says "NBC" or something.
Anyway....
...if anyone knows where I can get an audio or video copy of that WGN bumper I originally mentioned, I'd love to get ahold of it.
EighteenMinutes 08-03-2008, 09:58 PM For anyone still confused by this post, here's an example of an NBC bumper from 1988:

Okay, thanks. Now I feel a bit silly for asking but I had no idea that's what they were called. I had a thought that you might have been talking about a promo.

I have exactly what you are looking for, a complete 90 minute episode with original commercials from WGN from around 1986....it contains the little bumper with children playing and the song "having a good time watching Channel 9" thoughout the show. email direct to: teeveecloset@aol.com
storrs19 08-18-2008, 06:59 AM I remember watching Bozo on WGN in the late 1970s and early 1980s. We got cable in 1977 and WGN was a channel I watched quite a bit. That slogan "Kids in Chicago having a good time their all watching Channe 9" sure brings back memories. Back then WGN was a local station in Chicago that was piped to cable stations around the country and all times given were Central time. Much different (and of course better) than the current WGN...but then the same can be said for almost every channel on cable now.
Doodyville10019 10-10-2008, 08:34 PM Check out www.fuzzymemories.tv - it's a Chicago TV history website and they've got at least 2 or 3 of those bumpers (if WGN did not taken them off) Good luck my friend! Living in Chicago, I remember them well.
