Do you like Steven and Elyse equally or do you prefer one over the other?
Do you like Steven's or Elyse's parenting styles best? Or do you like their parenting styles combined best?
I like both Steven and Elyse. If I were to pick I would say I like Elyse a little more. Both have good parenting styles, imo.

They are both really terrific parents. They are both loving and understanding. As far as their parenting skills are concerned, I think Steven and Elyse are equals. If I had to pick a favorite, I would pick Steven because he has a great sense of humor and that great beard. :D

I like them both equally, but I think Steven is so funny. They were both great parents too.

I can't choose between the two. They're both great parents, and they're both funny.

They both clearly have their ups and downs as parents. The most recent DVD release demonstrates as surely as ever Steven's tendency toward over-protectiveness with regard to his daughters (the show's writers no doubt influenced by Michael Gross' strengths in broad comedy). And one can't help thinking that the two of them could be a little less laissez-faire between crises with regard to Mallory's academic underachieving. Still, overall I appreciate their warmth, their commitment, and their openness.

i liked them both equally (although, Meredith looked a lot better in a skirt than Mike Gross :p )

The episode where Elyse stood out as a parent was Alex's 18th birthday episode when her and Alex had it out in the kitchen. That was powerful when she let him know she was a real person with real feelings. Meredith Baxter Birney turned in a powerful performance in that episode.

I liked them both equally and they were likable people. Watching Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter Birney in those roles looked believable as though they could be married to each other in real life. They were the Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore of the 80s in terms of a TV married couple.

I was never into the parents when I was a kid at all and found them to be rather irritating, but going back now and watching through them over again, I have grown to really appreciate the comic timing and delivery of Michael Gross...
I liked Elyse okay, but I just didn't find her as funny as Steven. The episode where Alex and the kids turn the house into a hotel and Steven returns home to find a kangaroo in his living room had me laughing out loud, which I rarely do...and then a subtle moment when Elyse tells him that Skippy knew about the baby and he just nods his head as says "Of course" still has me laughing just thinking about it. The guy was underrated as a comic actor, but it probably had to do with Michael J. Fox being just as good if not better...
