It needs to be said this is one amazing show that lasted all of 14 episodes, even less if you just considered the ones that aired. Sometimes I don't even want to watch this box set I have because it's almost too PAINFUL to know how long (short) it is.... if you are the fence about getting this show, don't be, the make-up may not always be up to snuff but the main characters (Burke, Virdon, and Galen) and even the random guest stars are as good as anything you'd see on the Big Valley or Star Trek, imo.

I love this show and I understand your feelings. It's hard to watch a great show and know there's only 14 episodes and was considered a failure.

Funny thing is, I'm not a big fan of the movies. But I really got into the TV show.

The Planet of the Apes was my favorite TV show when I was a little kid. It was always sad to me that it only lasted half of a season. :(

Adam, I LOVE the first movie ('68) and the TV Show... but I DETEST all the other movies. The sequels were near garbage IMO.

well, you're all entitled to your opinions, but from whatI remember about the show when I was growing up, it was AWFUL!!!

(whats sad is, it replaced a show by Gene Rodenberry that sounds like it would have been pretty good, called "QUESTAR". It wouldn't have been as good as the pilot was, though. CBS wanted to change some things from the pilot and make it more of a "man-on-the-run" show, and that's why Rodenberry walked away from it)

I remember watching the TV series when it first ran. I even had a pack or two of the Topps trading cards ("Renegade Chimp Galen" is the card I remember best).

I thought it was an OK series at the least. As far as the movies, I thought "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" was a great sequel, though I later saw how corners were cut to reduce production costs.

It was decent, though personally I think the animated series was done far better and actually captured the feel of the original book.

Little trivia: The sets, props, and some costumes were reused from the Apes series for the Saturday morning children's series- Ark II

As for the movies, I'm a huge fan of all of them except the last one- Battle For The Planet Of The Apes. My favorite sequel was Escape From The Planet of the Apes, not only was it a great sequel, but a great scifi movie, period.
