While reading AOL news, I found this. It is TMZ, and I know they can't be trusted. According to stupid TMZ it is being said the game PLINKO was fixed. Here is the story:
A rigged game kinda derailed "The Price is Right" last week.
Our spies tell us the show's famous Plinko game had been pre-set to hit the $10,000 slot every time for a show commercial, but some bonehead forgot to reset it.
During the next taping, a contestant began playing Plinko and racked up $30,000 when producers finally realized what was happening. They stopped tape, fixed the game (actually un-fixed it) and the woman went on to win $3,000.
The show still gave her the $30,000 as a fabulous parting gift.
But you won't see any of it on the show. It was all edited out.

I can explain this one.
It's true. TMZ's normally full of it, but this story's legit. Whenever filming commercials, have executives in town, or any other instance where they want to make sure the chips go in the top slot, they have a special wire system they install into the board that keep the Plinko chips from going into other slots. Someone forgot to remove it before a taping, leading to the incident that TMZ describes.
Someone realized what was up mid-taping, had everything stopped, and what was going on was explained. The decision was made to re-shoot the game. They removed the wire system and started tape again. Out of fairness to the contestant, she was given the $30,000 in addition to whatever she won in the proper playing of the game.
AFAIK, Plinko is the only game with a setup used for guaranteed wins as it's simply THE pricing game people associate with the show, and obviously the one used for promotions. Any attempt to manipulate a game to the point of rigging one way or another outside of off-air promotions would have standards & practices up both Fremantle's (the production company's) and CBS' collective rear ends so fast they wouldn't know what hit them.
Making sure that the games are in the proper setup for air was one of now-fired Producer Roger Dobkowitz' duties. With Roger having done it himself for so many years, it didn't occur to folks that someone else needed to make sure it was done.

Thanx Seth. I hope this doesn't affect how people view the show. You know people will take this and run with it and claim they pick and choose who wins or loses.
I agree TMZ is full of s**t and I hate to rely on what they say which is why I wanted to know. I mean, they say, "...our spies tell us..." Nothing is sacred from TMZ.

Yes it is absolutely true. It was an oversight by the usually well in tune price crew, this almost happened when I was out visiting the show recently. One of the girls fromt he insider was there & she played plinko & of course she did well & it made for a good spot on TV, but the game was being played that day About 15 mins after the rehearsal one of the crew realized the deal & it was corrected.
I assure you the game is not fixed, just it has the ability to " strengthen the odds" for promotional purposes if need be.
