Hi everyone!
I was reading a thread on The DVD Show board about the members ages. I thought it was pretty interesting. I was the youngest one who posted. I'm 12. I was wondering what ages the people on the MTM Show were. Curiousity kills the cat...but it keeps us women alive! (Line from the DVD Show).
Is there anyone on the board my age, or is it more like 20's and up?

im still nearly 47 and, offhand, id guess that youre easily one of the youngest people here.

I'm 26, so yeah, I'd say you were prob. the youngest of us "regulars." But that's OK, I know TMTMS has a few teenage fans. In fact, I was around 11 when I first started watching.

that's great, though, that more than a few younger people recognize the quality of the show!

I'm 43 and I watched the MTM show when it originally aired. Every Saturday night. Those were the days. :lol:

actually, now that i think about it, i'm so ancient at this point that it didn't hit me, but i was 10-17 when the show was on
so i was very young when i was watching the early years of TMTMS
but still, kudos to lauranamesake and all the other young fans catching up to the show on DVD

I'm 50 and I also watched the show when it orginally aired. It's great that you're enjoying the show and that it appeals to such a wide age range of viewers.

I think there is a certain point to watch certain shows. I have been watching The Dick Van Dyke Show my whole life. I have always wanted to watch The MTM Show, but my parents wouldn't let me. They said that I was too young and I wouldn't understand it. I hated that because MTM has always been my role model. Just last Christmas they bought it for me. I'm glad they waited because I wouldn't have understand more than half of it. (And I'm glad I have access to the internet on my nifty little laptop while watching, so I can pause and look up something if needed.)

29 - but I have thoroughly enjoyed the reruns and DVDs. This show is timeless!!!! :D

The Dick Van Dyke Show IS the '60s in the workplace and suburbia and The Mary Tyler Moore Show IS the working girl in the '70s with a great circle of friends...the comedy still holds up tremendously...these are shows that anybody of any age can watch and enjoy...I think the only thing that gets in the way is that there are always new shows coming out, and some people automatically get bored with the old...but if the old is as good as, if not better than, the new stuff, hey, I have no problem watching it again and often do!

Lauranamesake, I think it's wonderful that you are 12 and a fan of Mary Tyler Moore. That is a great role model to have instead of the other "role models" that are out there today. :rolleyes: It's also great that you have such an interest in the show to look things up if you aren't sure what they mean. That's a great learning experience in itself. Actually the best kind, in my mind because you're watching something you enjoy and learning about history and pop culture at the same time.

I'm 41 and I had never watched a lot of the older classic TV shows until I was well into my 20's. Of course, I watched MTM and all that, but those were on when I was younger. Nick at Night is terrible now, but when it first appeared it was a wonderful thing; my little brother (he was about your age, maybe a little older) was the one who introduced me to Dobie Gillis, Donna Reed, Mr. Ed, because he watched them on Nick at Night.
I cringe when I mention to my friends (who are in their 20's and above) about classic stars like Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart and they have no clue who I am talking about.:confused: I was reading a Lauren Bacall autobiography at work and the girl (she's 20) next to me asked me about it. I tried to explain and when she didn't understand I said "She was married to Humphrey Bogart". Then she actually said to me "Who's that? A baseball player?"

Oh my!! I have the same problem. No one ever knows who I am talking about!! For spanish, we had to write an essay on one of our heros, and I chose Betty White. NO ONE knew who she was except for one girl whos mother watched Golden Girls. That's horrible!!!
They know who MTM is usually, just because of hearing her name. None of my friends knew where Cloris Leachman even came from when she was on DWTS. I was like WHAT?! I showed my friend "The Lars Affair" and she showed me something where one of the people from DWTS was from. Good exchange (MINE WAS BETTER!).
I love learning about the pop culture history. Pop culture for me ranges from (in years like when they came out) "Gone With the Wind" and "Thin Man" series to "The Golden Palace." Along with that the Kennedys, and the were politics from the 60s pretty much. They are so interesting.
Anyone like Alfred Hitchcock movies? I'm gonna be Tippi Hedren from "The Birds" for the school thing where we get out of uniform if we dress up (are uniforms are ugly and uncomfortable). THAT WAS A SCARY MOVIE!!!

BTW: Sorry for getting so off topic. I ramble when I'm writing like I ramble when I'm talking. LOL.

I'm 22. I've watched reruns, videos and have some DVDs. I've loved this show for as long as I can remember.

I'm 20. I grew up watching TDVDS, but up until this year I had only seen TMTMS on nick at nite back when I was much younger (7 or 8) and I did not like it! Though I'm sure this mainly has to do with the fact that I didn't understand it because now I love the show. It was a sad day when I finished the 4th season with nothing else to look forward to.

I'm 18 here so I guess I am one of the younger memebers aswell, again none of my friends would have heard of any of the actors on TMTMS
