There is just something about this show -- that people to this day buy the DVDs and remember and talk about a show that lasted only 3 seasons in the late 70's -- it obviously just has some intangible quality that makes it great.
How I fell in love with this show: I was born in '75 in San Francisco -- too young to remember the first run, but when i was about 6 in '81 they played What's Happening every weekday on KBHK 44 in the afternoons after school. I still remember turning the big metal dial on our wood-paneled Sony Trinitron TV and adjusting the rabbit ears to watch Raj, Rerun, Dwayne, and the rest of the gang. I watch an episode at least once a week religiously ever since my pre-ordered copy of season 1 arrived at my door a few years back.
So this seems like a potentially good thread -- how did you fall in love with this show?
