View Full Version : Do you prefer movies to sitcoms ?
Chocolate Moose 07-22-2008, 10:14 PM I don't mean specifically, I mean in general. There are many fine movies and some terrible sitcoms, and vice versa.
In general, however, I prefer a sitcom. Most are under 30 minutes so you have less of a time constraint. I also like the way characters develop over the series; it's like having an (old) friend !
I tend to try to watch a movie, lose interest/can't keep track of/don't care about the characters, and end up deleting it or returning it.
Anyone else ?
PunkyP0WER 07-22-2008, 10:25 PM i prefer tv series - sitcoms or dramas to movies only because i'm always wanting more. after a movie, i'm always like "what happened to the characters afterward?"etc. gone with the wind is a good example of this. also i loved miracle on 34th street mostly because of the chemistry between john payne and maureen o'hara and always wished there was more onscreen time between them, but there's so little time to cover all the bases in movies that scenes have to be sacrificed because of time issues. luckily john payne and maureen o'hara were in 3 other films together which i have. anyway that is the only reason i prefer tv to movies.

Thats really a tough question considering i like them both. But i would have to go with Sitcoms for all the reasons you mentioned.

Me too. I like looooooooong storylines. Which is why a part of me is a secret soap watcher.
So no, definetly TV. Heck, many of my favorite movies have TV stars in them.
Family Ties Forever! 07-22-2008, 11:25 PM I prefer sitcoms
catlover79 07-22-2008, 11:29 PM SITCOMS!!! :D
InspectorExstead 07-22-2008, 11:53 PM tv shows, comedy or drama. i rarely have the attention span to sit through an entire movie at home, unless i REALLY like it. even then, i'll fast forward through the parts i don't like. lol.
Nighthawk76 07-23-2008, 12:07 AM Movies, by far. There are some sitcoms that I love, but overall I am a much bigger fan of movies.

i do the same. i have my very favorite movies, a select few that i've watched a hundred times over in their entirety, but when i watch them now i tend to fast forward to my favorite scenes.
tv star collector 07-23-2008, 11:49 AM For the most part, I prefer television series to motion pictures. There is more
time for character development over an entire season (of, if they're lucky,
several seasons). On the other hand, the most popular movies become
franchises; but, usually, the sequels never measure up to the original (with
some exceptions). It is sort of like comparing a novel to a short story. Each
has its advantages and disadvantages; but, over the last fifty years, I have
watched far more TV shows than movies (although I have seen a lot of both). So,
I guess, in general, I like TV better than movies.
Scoobiedoo30 07-23-2008, 02:15 PM Sitcoms
waichingliu81 07-23-2008, 04:52 PM for me sitcoms because there is generally more room for character development and potential storylines cropping up which make interesting viewing. i tend to watch less films nowadays- as i prefer sitcoms and cartoons.
there are some films which go on for around 3 hours, whilst sitcoms in general last for half an hour, which i think is good and anyway, i do think that film as a medium is rather overrated
comedyfreak 07-24-2008, 03:48 AM I prefer sitcoms to movies. I have to be in the mood to watch a movie or I won't have the attention spand to finish one.
