Have you ever been in a store browsing the DVD's and you see something that is available on DVD? Whether it is a movie, tv show, etc. This happened the other day as I was browsing FRY'S. I seen a DVD for the kids show MIGHTY ISIS. This was a show that came on Saturday mornings right after SHAZAM in the 70's. I was shocked, especially when I think of things that I'd rather see on DVD and they haven't been released YET! Still, I might end up one day buying that ISIS DVD merely for nostalgia. :lol:

I used to watch ISIS and SHAZAM. :lol: They should come out with a whole bunch of those Saturday morning shows. I'd love to see The Kroft Supershow. :lol:

I was surprised that The Hardy Boys 13-episode series exists on DVD (the one from 1995). I actually used to watch it on tv around 2000 and bought the set :)

I picked that up and glad I did. It didnt get a lot of the classic commericals but there are some goodies in there. Only is it had too many 70's commericals for my taste.

For me it's the real oddball stuff like.......

Tabitha.....a terrible one season wonder, but was very surprised it was released.

The Hilarious House Of Frightenstein.....the 1970's Canadian produced childrens show.....A one volume dvd release in the US but a boxset was issued in Canada.

This Is Tom Jones.....and other variety shows that haven't been on since their original airings.

Lotsa Luck...one season nbc dom deluise series

Good Morning World.....one season ronnie shell series...very much like dick van dyke in color, from the same creators and writers.

but for me the most shocking was a recent release.....

The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show....the 1970's Saturday morning series that I would have bet I would have never seen again!

I agree Sonny, it would be awesome to see those Saturday kids' shows in one big set. ;) What memories that would bring back.

I did see LAND OF THE LOST on DVD as well. That was a show I always looked forward to watching on Saturdays. I seen come clips on Youtube and think "How darn corny that show was." :rofl:

I once read that Joanna Cameron was in the Guinness Book of World Records. Or that she held the record for most tv appearances as far as commercials are concerned. I can't remember, something like that. :crazy:

And to see the actors on Isis--the guy who played Alderman Davis on GT, as well as Ronalda Douglas, the second T.C. on GT. The lead guy and Joanna Cameron's teacher persona, Andrea--wow-if the show wasn't on Saturday morning, you could hear "Let's Get it On" for those two characters! :lol:

"THE BIONIC WOMAN"-not the show from the 70s, but the short-lived (EXTREMELY short-lived) revival that was on NBC last year, since there was only something like 7 episodes.

I bought Isis when it was first released.

"The Bionic Woman" doesn't really surprise me. They pretty much release all scripted network shows, especially if the show was ridiculously hyped before it premiered. "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" was bull****, and it was released.

One that never fails to amaze me is "The Doris Day Show." It hasn't been on national TV in ages, yet all five seasons were released within two and a half years.

I was surprised to see Airwolf get a release. I haven't heard a thing about that show since the 80s. My mom used to have a crush on Jan-Michael Vincent, so one of these days I'll buy her the DVDs.


Another...Danger Mouse. I grew up watching this show thinking it was Mighty Mouse. :lol: Then I thought maybe I'd made it up. I'm not even sure what channel it was on when I saw it, but that to me is like some blast from the forgotten TV shows graveyard.

MPI Home Video. They handle mainly older shows (check their page at wikipedia for a list), and if I'm not mistaken, they're one of the most respected TV on DVD companies out there. They do a really good job with quality, special features, etc. They're best known for releasing all 1,225 episodes of "Dark Shadows" on both VHS and DVD.

I just happened to remember MPI released all 5 seasons of Family Affair (in a timely manner) like Doris Day another seldom seen show that deserves to be on DVD. :happyface

I think MPI is a good company in terms of not giving up on a series!

I was surprised also that The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show got released. But unfortunately, the show just isn't very good. The main redeeming qualities are the songs performed from the superb Hollywood Situation album, the Chucky Margolis skits and the segments with Rod Hull and his crazy Emu. And also, Avril Chown is quite lovely and easy on the eyes! :D The Hudson Brothers are 70's icons, it's great the DVD's came out and nice to revisit the show and see the guys again in their prime. If only the show had been handled better, they might have had a success with it. For the most part, the comedy is very lame with poor writing.

what's next? The Harlem Globetrotter's Popcorn Machine? That was another Saturday morning/Sunday morning kids variety show.

I'm never shocked at dvds that are available as I always see it as a good sign for the rarer shows I like. I do hate how quickly current shows get put to dvd. Let's give the retro shows their time again!

I'll concur with your assessment of the writing of this show, but then again it was a Saturday morning show geared for a children's audience. One thing I noticed is that the first approx. three minutes of all 16 episodes is exactly the same, so you can fast forward about three minutes into each episode and not miss anything! The Chucky Margolis sketch was the best, and I also loved the island of Peegi-Peegi.

Now if only the Hudson's 1979 bizarre comedy sketch show BONKERS! would see the light of day on DVD!

The studio wanted to release the first season of Bewitched and Tabitha at the same time.


They figured the public would buy Tabitha right along with Bewitched.
