I am seeing this show as it comes to DVD so I am wondering about what's to come. I've read that the show focused more on Joe and Helen. What I'd like to know is, does Fay become even more underused than she is before? I find her to be my favorite character and wish they would give her more storylines and less to Brian, who frankly I find boring.

You probably won't enjoy it much then. Joe and Helen's married life is pretty focused on, not that the other characters aren't, but mostly Joe and Helen. Plus Brian and Casey's on again/off again trysts. Without spoiling, Fay is involved with a wedding; Fay has trouble parting with the George's belongings; she plays a pretty good role in the three-parter "Wingless";

But Rebecca Schull did have an illness for a time and missed appearing in a good amount of episodes at all.

Oh, that's a shame. I did not know that about Rebecca Schull.
I'm sure I'll enjoy the show still, I'm actually watching season 6 right now and Brian is finally starting to grow on me. If he is mostly with Casey then maybe his constant new girlfriends won't be such a big part of the storylines, which has always been kind of annoying to me.

Fay did seem underused at times, especially during the last two years. I'd rather have seen more of her those two seasons and a lot less of Antonio. He really started to annoy me near the end. (Although I'll gladly watch later-seasons Antonio than Monk. No offense any Monk fans here, but I hate that show. Of course, I won't watch crime shows in general, but that's me :D )
