View Full Version : Happy Days: The Final Episodes
For many of us, the final lasting memory we have of "Happy Days" is of Joanie and Chachi getting married with Richie and Lori Beth in attendance, and Howard giving a toast while facing the camera and saying "Here's to Happy Days". That's certainly a great way to end any series and it made for a classy and fitting conclusion to this one. But guess what? That wasn't the final episode. If you check any episode guide for the series you will see 5 more episodes turn up that were originally aired after the wedding episode in the summer of 1984. I don't imagine that they were too popular because I haven't heard of any station that would have run then until now. But, in my area, Canadian channel CTS (now available in Southern Ontario as well as Calgary and Edmonton) will have all 5 of them this week. Here they are in order of appearance:
MONDAY --- Episode #253.
So How Was Your Weekend? June 28, 1984
Joanie and Marion leave to help Mother Kelp move.
TUESDAY --- Episode #254.
Low Notes July 5, 1984
Chachi lies about his job as a dance instructor.
WEDNESDAY --- Episode #255.
School Dazed July 12, 1984
Joanie tries to help a student involved in drugs.
THURSDAY --- #256
Good News, Bad News July 19, 1984
Medical news makes Chachi quit a Beach Boys tour.
FRIDAY --- #257
The REAL FINAL Episode!
Fonzie's Spots Sept. 24, 1984
Fonzie, Roger and Potsie become Leopards to help Howard.
Not exactly a great way to go out, is it? But I'm sure that "Happy Days" fans will not mind too much. If you get a chance to see them, I hope you'll enjoy. If not, there's always the wedding episode to enjoy again, but make sure you watch these ones first!
Waterston_Fan 07-21-2008, 04:20 PM Hmmm.. I never thought about that...
But I don't know....
YoliUSA 07-21-2008, 04:37 PM It's great that you'll get to see those episodes. I've seen them before in TV Land and WGN, but I don't know why they were aired after the 2-part finale.
Waterston_Fan 07-21-2008, 04:51 PM I did see some of them though...
Mr. Television 07-21-2008, 05:29 PM Yea those episodes were filmed before the wedding episode. ABC had pulled HD from the schedule during the 1983-84 season and didn't bring it back until right before the final episode. During the summer of 84 ABC aired those unaired episodes. I never watched them then because I wanted the wedding to be the last thing I saw of HD in prime-time .
anglemark10 07-21-2008, 09:41 PM It looks like CTS has a couple things wrong, there. There were only 255 episodes, yet your list has episodes numbered 256 and 257.
Anyway, I saw those episodes when TV Land used to run the series. The entire final season was one of the best, in my opinion.
spreckenzeedeu 07-21-2008, 11:15 PM Here in Germany, those Episodes were shown before the TwoPart.
We had/have an other Broadcasting TimeLine than you...so, for me, the Wedding was, is, and always will be the Final Episodes.
Wreckless 07-22-2008, 10:04 PM I knew it wasn't the last episode. The episodes after the so called finale I actually liked. The one where Roger, Fonzie and Chach get inducted into the grand puba, the one where Joanie harvests a drug dealing student of hers and tries to fix her pain killer problem. Its on the wikipedia HD episodes list, check it out. Good episodes.
Wreckless 07-22-2008, 10:05 PM Oh and I need help with somethin. I think it's Wikipedia in which it says theirs 250 episodes, but i'm pretty sure 255 episodes are the total. WTF?
anglemark10 07-23-2008, 12:05 AM There were definitely 255 episodes.
wayne 07-23-2008, 02:32 AM I always have liked the one in which Fonzie dreams about meeting a woman after buying a 55 Chevy who is supposed to be dead. I never understood why we see the purse at the front seat of the car after Fonzie wakes up from his dream.
comedyfreak 07-23-2008, 04:13 AM I remember the Good news Bad news episode, havn't seen it since it originally aired. It was about Chachi finding out he has diabetes.
Wreckless 07-23-2008, 04:16 AM Yeah I figured their were 255 episodes..

I saw the episode too and liked it.
I didn't get why we saw her purse. I would think it would be with her family or something.
faraj 07-23-2008, 03:21 PM Oh and I need help with somethin. I think it's Wikipedia in which it says theirs 250 episodes, but i'm pretty sure 255 episodes are the total. WTF?
I think the reason that it says 250 eps. is because a couple of the 2-parters and 2/3s of all 3 of the 3-parters were each an hour-long during their first runs on ABC which they count as one episode each. Here are the episodes that'll hopefully explain it:
Fonzie Loves Pinky (pts. 1 and 2)-one whole hour, one episode
Fonzie Loves Pinky, pt. 3-half hour, one episode
Hollywood (pts. 1 and 2)-one whole hour, one episode
Hollywood, pt. 3-half hour, one episode
Westward Ho (pts. 1 and 2)-one whole hour, one episode
Westward Ho, pt. 3-half hour, one episode
Home Movies (pts. 1 and 2)-one whole hour, one episode
The Passages (pts. 1 and 2)-one whole hour, one episode
Hope that helps explain this 250 ep. bit on wikipedia.
Wreckless 07-23-2008, 08:39 PM ^ Thanks Faraj, I knew there were 255 eps but I got confused lol, makes a lot of sense, thanks for clarifying it.
