So, Solomon's 'shows with cars crashing through the wall of a living room' thread had me thinking about shows that use the same storylines or situations, or as Solomon would call it, are examples of "recycled situations." LOL!

So name a show or shows which had the same storyline or situation.

I'll start:

The Fresh Prince and Full House both had a storyline where a famous singer (Tevin Campbell as Little T in The Fresh Prince, and Tommy Page as himself on Full House) was invited to a birthday party (Ashley's and Stephanie's) as a surprise to the birthday girl and ended up sweeping the birthday girls off their feet as well as making them faint.

What else?

Here's one: I Love Lucy and Bewitched both had one where the actors were working on a conveyor belt with food and it got out of hand.

An entire thread at the Brady Bunch board is comparing storylines between it and Gilligan's Island.

On the Diff'rent Strokes board, we've often compared storylines that were similar in scope to the Brady Bunch.

Taxi and Wings both had episodes where a main character had to marry an American citizen to avoid deportation.

Also, this is going way back, on an episode of CHARLIE'S ANGELS, where a boy who I believe was autistic, accidently shot Kelly in the head. The whole episode revolved around finding that boy because of the gun being used in another crime. The exact same storyline was used years before on MOD SQUAD. This was the very first time I had watched a tv show and noticed the same, exact storyline/plot was used. I would watch MOD SQUAD, so when I then seen the CHARLIE'S ANGELS episode, I was taken aback. I mean, every single detail was exactly the same! Not like some shows have some similar plot as those mentioned here, but they had to have used the exact same script as the MOD SQUAD.

That Fresh Prince episode could be a recycled plot as well. Where the character messes up (instead of becoming the hero) in a sports game. :lol: On the BRADY BUNCH, Greg gets a big head and in the end, he pitches lousy and his team loses.

TAXI: Another recollection episode (add recollections to the cliche topic ;) where cab 804 and the memories are discussed. Alex helps a woman deliver her baby.

What about fires, and things burning down? Wings did it twice, once with Joe and Helen's house, then with Brian and Casey's. LOL. But Happy Days, The Hogan Family and a few other shows have had fires at one time or another.

THE WALTONS had their home go up in flames.

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE the barn went up in flames after Mary spilled the kerosene lamp.

Also, the school for the blind went up in flames, killing Alice and Mary's newborn boy. Alice Garvery tried in vain to smash a window as the flames came along around her. One of thee most tragic episodes in all of television, I believe.

Another Little House fire was when the Garvey's barn went up in flames. Again, a kerosene lamp was to blame for that. DAMN KEROSENE LAMPS! :crazy:

There was an episode of Growing Pains where Carol's boyfriend (Matthew Perry) died in a drunk-driving accident. The Seavers also took in homeless boy Luke (played by a relatively unknown Leonardo DiCaprio).

Full House had WAY too many Very Specials to count - there was DJ going on a crash diet, Stephanie's classmate who was being physically abused, Stephanie clinging to her dad during the aftermath of the 1989 SF earthquake, Kimmy getting drunk at a college frat party, etc., etc., etc.

Thank you. Yes. Which is why I loved ROSEANNE so much. Things didn't get resolved in one episode. Hell, sometimes they never got resolved. It was reality.

Seeing Uncle Ned call AA at the end and say, "I'm an alcoholic" was just too cut and dry for me. It takes a long, long, long time for one to even admit they have a problem.

(sounding and acting like Horatio Cane at the beggining of some episodes). Then, on "C.S.I.: MIAMI" you hear a scream and the theme starts. Tonight's reruns of "That '70s Show" on the N had Kelso and Hyde fighting over Jackie.

An episode of Steve Harvey had Steve cometig w/ Romeo over this one lady, who was about Steve's age and older han Romeo, only to find out that the same lady crept around many other guys and even another gal.
