It has been announced today by tvshowsondvd.com that Universal will release The Munsters The Complete Series on DVD on Oct. 7, 2008
It will include both seasons and the three Munsters Movies.:happyface

The only way I'd even consider is if the discs are single-sided, but I'd REALLY like them to release this set in Blu-ray format :wave:

Technically, there were actually four movies: the 1966 theatrical
feature "Munster, Go Home," the 1981 TV-movie "The Munsters' Revenge,"
the 1995 TV-movie "Here Come the Munsters" and the 1998 TV-movie "The
Munsters' Scary Little Christmas." Only the first two films featured the
original cast (Fred Gwynne, Yvonne DeCarlo, and Al Lewis). Edward Herrman
took over the role of Herman in "Here Come the Munsters," while Sam McMurray was Herman in the Christmas movie. I would assume the three
movies referred to are the made-for-TV films.

P.S. Oops, my bad. I just read the link. The three films on the new disc
are "Munster, Go Home," "The Munsters' Revenge" and "The Munsters' Scary
Little Christmas." I don't understand why they skipped "Here Come the Munsters"; in my opinion,
Edward Herrman was the best Herman Munster since the late, great Fred Gwynne.

The paragraph at tvshowsondvd.com is just assuming that the three movies that were previously released would be in the set. I hope that "Here Come the Munsters" is included on that set. It's my favorite of all the Munster movies, including those with the original cast.

I'll have to think twice before buying this set, though. I bought seasons 1 and 2, but I haven't watched them in a very long time.

I would consider it if they included "Here Comes the Munsters" and included single-sided discs.

TVShowsondDVD has the prliminary artwork for the complete series set. Right now it looks like 12 single-sided discs. For all I know that image could be just for promotional purposes. Someone is going to have to purchase this and get back to me before I buy this...

That's cool! If Netflix ends up carrying them, I might rent them, since the Munsters isn't aired in my area.

I'll cross my fingers with you. It seems as if the series will be spread out on 12 single-sided discs, so I placed a pre-order last night. Does anyone know if "Family Portrait" was actually filmed in color and that's how it will be presented, or will it be colorized by hand and/or computer?

Does anyone know exactly what is this "Family Portrait" about? Is it the original pilot presentation or a documentary special?
